Following the relentless rain, the Internet was flooded with hilarious memes depicting the city's battle with waterlogging and disturbances to daily life.

Mercury to rise by 2-3C in next 2-3 days: IMD

1 2 Bhubaneswar: Day temperature would rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the state during the next three days from Saturday with no relief from continuing hot and humid conditions in several coastal districts for at least four days, IMD said on Friday. Manorama Mohanty, scientist and head of the regional IMD centre here, said that little change in prevailing wind pattern supported the rise in day temperature. Mohanty said there are no signs of further advancement of monsoon in the coming one week. "Southwest monsoon, which arrived 15 days before its scheduled date, has only covered parts of south Odisha," Mohanty said, adding that monsoon generally arrives in the state after June 10. However, she said thunderstorm activity with lightning or gusty surface wind would continue in some districts. Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm continued in some districts on Friday and in the last 24 hours. Chandbali recorded highest 75.6 mm of rainfall, followed by Jagatsinghpur with 39.4 mm on Friday. The city recorded 1.2 mm of rain. Similarly, Purushottampur in Ganjam district received the highest 46.8 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. On Saturday, thunderstorm activities are likely in five south Odisha districts. Hot and humid conditions would continue in the 11 coastal districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati, the IMD forecast said. Southern part of Bihar to remain dry for next 3 days: Met office

Patna: The state's capital on Friday received light rainfall. However, as per the forecast of Indian Meteorological Department, Patna, the city including the other districts of southern Bihar is likely to remain dry for the next three days. On the other hand, most of the districts of northern Bihar are likely to receive pre monsoon showers on Saturday and Sunday. Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnea and Katihar may receive rainfall at one or two places on Saturday and Sunday, while Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Sheohar and Samastipur districts are likely to experience isolated rainfall on Sunday. IMD had earlier predicted the arrival of monsoon in the state as per its usual time, between May 14 and 16. However, the depression over the Bay of Bengal that brought heavy rainfall to the northeastern region, weakened after it reached Sikkim. Furthermore, "westerly winds became strong enough in Bihar to weaken the easterly wind," said an official. On Friday, Patna recorded 1.5 mm of rainfall, Bhagalpur 3.4 mm, Darbhanga 31 mm, Gopalganj 23mm, Motihari 2 mm, Madhepura 2.5 mm, Vaishali 7 mm, and Rajgir 4.5 mm of rainfall. The maximum temperature of the state was recorded at 38.5 degrees celsius in Buxar, whereas the minimum in Vaishali was recorded at 19.6 degree celsius. No major change in the maximum or minimum temperature is expected in the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 36-38 degrees celsius for the next two days in the capital, along with most of the southern and north western districts, while the minimum temperature will range from 26 - 28 degrees celsius on Saturday and 28-30 degrees celsius thereafter. When Raj Kapoor predicted that Dilip Kumar would pursue acting: ‘You should go into films, we both will go into films'

The camaraderie between actors Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor dates back to their early years, long before they became titans of Indian cinema. Not only did the two work in the same industry and support each other throughout their careers, but their connection began in childhood, rooted in a shared heritage and deep mutual respect. In an old interview with Lehren Retro, Dilip reminisced about their childhood in Peshawar and how Raj Kapoor was instrumental in encouraging him to pursue acting. In the interview, Dilip Kumar said, 'We come from the same town. I was born in Peshawar, he was born in Peshawar. Our families knew each other. And he was the one who always used to say, when we used to play the game of soccer, he was good goalkeeper and a very good referee, particularly when we used to play against British army teams he used to assert himself… all as a little boy. So he used to tell me you go into films, we both will go into films. But I said no, because that was not the thing in those times you would aspire to do. So I used tell him that you go, your father also does the same, so you should follow his footsteps.' Also Read | Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor asked Jawaharlal Nehru about his relationship with Lady Mountbatten; he 'blushed' and said, 'I love all these stories about me' Years later, when Dilip Kumar visited a film set for the first time, it was Raj Kapoor who recognized him immediately, reaffirming a moment he had seemingly foreseen. Recalling that meeting in the same interview, Dilip said, 'He said I told you you will be here,' describing Raj's reaction with evident fondness. Reflecting further on their bond, the actor added, 'We had a lovely relationship.' Despite being close, it may come as a surprise to many that the two legends only acted together in one film: Andaz. Released in 1949, the movie was both a critical and commercial success, becoming a milestone in Hindi cinema.
