Two serving members of Armed Forces admit trying to sell cannabis

Independent20-02-2025

Two serving members of the British Armed Forces have admitted to trying to sell cannabis.
The defendants, named only as X and Y, pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday to being concerned in the making of an offer to supply the class B drug between November 23 2023 and November 28 2023.
Defendant Y further admitted having cannabis on November 30 2023 with intent to supply, while Defendant X pleaded guilty to being in possession of the drug on the same date, the court heard.
Frederick Hookway, prosecuting, said the quantity of cannabis found in Defendant Y's possession was 997 grams, which had a street value of £10,000.
Defendant X was found with 33.47 grams, the court heard.
Messages between the pair showed them discussing selling the cannabis, Mr Hookway said.
They spoke of selling 2.3 kilos for £8,750, the court heard.
Defendant X also pleaded guilty to possessing articles for use in fraud relating to seven receipts for a Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41MM Jubilee watch.
He confirmed the receipts were fake and that he had intended to use them to sell a fake Rolex, the court heard.
The pair, who are involved in 'kinetic operations' within the Armed Forces, will be sentenced at Westminster Magistrates' Court at a later date.
Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring told the defendants that they could be jailed, saying: 'Custody is very much in play.'

Watch: Bridgerton actress fights off Algerian phone thief

Boulares, who has 12 previous convictions relating to 28 offences, admitted stealing her phone and assaulting another customer when he appeared at Westminster magistrates' court last week. The 18-year-old, who is an Algerian national, previously threatened to cut off Aled Jones's arm with a machete unless he handed over his £17,000 Rolex watch. He then threatened to behead the BBC Songs of Praise presenter if he continued to follow him after the robbery in July 2023. Boulares had also previously stolen a Rolex worth £20,000 from a 78-year-old man at Paddington station in west London. He was put in youth detention as a result, but released after 14 months of his 24-month sentence. In addition to the phone theft and assault, Boulares pleaded guilty to another theft after he stole a black leather bag from a customer at a pizza restaurant. He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on June 17.

Incredible moment Bridgerton star FIGHTS thief who took her phone before tackling him to cafe floor & grabbing it back

THIS is the incredible moment a Bridgerton star fought off a thief who swiped her mobile in a cafe. Astonishing footage from police shows Genevieve grabbing Boulares' shoulder as she realises her phone has been taken. She then tackles the serial thief to the ground with the help of another customer. Genevieve managed to take her phone back from Boulares before repeatedly hitting him with it in the posh cafe. She previously claimed she suffered a concussion in the horror in February and said even her dog was "traumatised". The star added: "They didn't expect me to stand up for myself – but I did." Algerian national Boulares previously pleaded guilty to stealing the phone. The teen also admitted common assault against fellow Joe and the Juice customer Carlo Kurcishi, who had stepped in to help. Boulares pleaded guilty to a separate charge of theft after he swiped a black leather hand bag from a diner at a pizza restaurant. The court heard he has 12 previous convictions for a total of 28 offences - all relating to theft. His rap sheet includes threatening to cut off Aled Jones' arm while stealing his £17,000 Rolex. The Songs of Praise presenter, 52, was out with his son Lucas when he was targeted near their home in Chiswick, South West London. Boulares - then aged 16 - pulled out 20 inch machete and repeatedly threatened Aled in a bid to steal the luxury timepiece. He told him: "Give me your f***king Rolex or I will cut your arm off." Aled handed over the £17,000 Rolex Daytona watch rather than fight with the armed robber. He and his son bravely followed the 6ft teen but when he spotted them, he snarled: "Walk the other way or I will cut your head off." Boulares was given a two year training and detention order after pleading guilty to robbery at Ealing Youth Court. But he was released from youth detention early after serving just 14 months of his 24-month sentence. He will be sentenced for robbing Genevieve on June 17 at Isleworth Crown Court. As well as Bridgerton, Genevieve appeared in historical film 1242: Gateway To The West. She is also a former professional athlete who represented Team GB at the Baku 2015 European Games in Artistic swimming events. 7 Genevieve tackled the thief to the ground Credit: Met Police 7 The actress appeared in season three of Bridgerton 7 Genevieve claimed she was left with a concussion Credit: Instagram

Jaw-dropping moment Bridgerton actress has phone stolen in Joe & The Juice

Genevieve Chenneour, who plays Miss Clara Livingston in Netflix hit Bridgeton, defended herself after Zacariah Boulares struck in a branch of Joe & The Juice in Kensington, west London These dramatic images show a Bridgerton actress bravely defend herself from a teenage thug who pinches her phone in a trendy coffee shop. CCTV captures Genevieve Chenneour, 27, fight back in front of stunned customers in the Joe & The Juice in Kensington, west London, after Zacariah Boulares, 18, had pounced. The teenage thug admitted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon and will be sentenced next month. ‌ Ms Chenneour, born in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, said: "They didn't expect me to stand up for myself – but I did. Getting a coffee shouldn't be something you need your wits about you for. I'm so grateful to the staff at Joe & The Juice – they were incredible during the incident and when I went back to see them after." ‌ It has now emerged Boulares, a serial phone thief, threatened to behead singer Aled Jones during a terrifying Rolex robbery in Chiswick, west London, in July 2023 - when the yob was just 16. He was sentenced to a two-year term at a youth detention centre, but was released after just 14 months - and able to carry out more crimes, including the one at the Joe & The Juice. Stills from the CCTV at the juice bar show the hooded Boulares lurking behind the actress, who was out with a friend walking her dog. He took the star's phone and assaulted another customer, Carlo Kurcishi. But Ms Chenneour, who has played Miss Clara Livingston in Bridgerton since season three, quickly leapt into action and took down the thief with the help of her friend. The fearless actress put her arm out to block the thief from leaving and then dislodged the phone from his hand. Retrieving the iPhone from the floor, she then used the device to strike Boulares who was left helpless on the floor. The tussle would continue for four minutes, after which the humbled yob left the café without the phone. Police were called to reports of theft and an assault on February 8. Boulares appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on May 29, where he pleaded guilty to stealing the phone and assaulting Mr Kurcishi. He also admitted stealing a black leather hand bag from a diner at a pizza restaurant in London's West End on 30 January this year. The teenager, an Algerian national, was remanded into custody and will now be sentenced on July 17 at Isleworth Crown Court in west London. A source was previously quoted as saying: "Genevieve showed real bravery throughout. It was a very shocking incident. It shows what is happening on London's streets on a daily basis." More than 70,000 phones were snatched in London in 2024, out of an estimated 100,000 thefts across the UK. Joe & The Juice, founded in 2002 in Copenhagen, has nearly 400 coffee shops across Europe, Asia and North America. The Mirror has approached the group for comment.
