He even faces calling off his annual Boxing Day shoot — and a long-serving gamekeeper at the Norfolk estate has been given the boot.
A source said: 'It was a total cock-up. No birds, no bang, just red faces.
"The King wasn't having it.'
Sandringham is one of the few remaining wild shoots in the country, meaning the game is reared where it is shot.
The King, who backs traditional countryside practices, has been reluctant to release birds from breeders to get numbers up.
But maintaining a more eco-friendly wild shoot has proved challenging, leaving pheasant numbers in decline.
There are now fears royals will be left twiddling their trigger fingers on Boxing Day as the annual shoot — a firm family favourite — is in doubt.
The occasion is seen as a rare chance for family bonding, despite protests from animal rights campaigners who particularly dislike children taking part.
The ousted keeper, who ran the estate's game for years, has been shown the door.
Our source said: 'Let's just say he's well and truly plucked off.'

The Haunted Palace – K-drama Episode 14 Recap & Review
Episode 14 Episode 14 of The Haunted Palace begins with Yoon Gap reuniting with a delighted Mrs. Yoon and a wary Yeo-ri. On their way to work, Yeo-ri accepts Gap's apology as he confesses to tricking her. However, she flinches when he reaches for her and he gives her back Gangcheori's bracelet. The palace is pleasantly surprised by Gap's return. The King hugs him but the ghostbane stone hurts Yoon Gap. Yeo-ri and the King deduce that the stone is reacting to Gap's corpse. Pung-san is eavesdropping via Yoon Gap's soul and realises that the ghostbane stone is their secret weapon. The inner circle gets back to work on the anti-slave reforms. The King finds Gap's enthusiasm refreshing but he also recalls how Gangcheori had cheered him when he had doubted his role as a benevolent king. Gap realises that the King misses Gangcheori. Surprisingly, even Head Eunuch Kim misses Gangcheori's impudence. Suddenly, Gap is in pain and Pung-san 'helps' him. The shaman needs Gap to destroy the King's ghostbane stone, and then the body will be permanently his. All he needs to do is pour 'alcohol' over the stone. However, the loyal Gap refuses. Meanwhile, Yeo-ri and Ga-seop search for Gangcheori. She prays for him, upset that he broke his promise of not letting her go. Surprisingly, he wakes up in Gap's body as well. Chaos ensues as Gap and Gangcheori tussle over the body's dominance. Soon, we see that it is Pung-san helping Gap suppress Gangcheori. He keeps reminding Gap of all the things Gangcheori has taken from him. The next morning, Gap is gone early and Yeo-ri has a vision of him eyeing the ghostbane stone. She rushes after him. In the palace, the King constantly praises Gap and works on the reforms. The ghostbane stone is on his table and Gap decides to pour the 'alcohol' over it. Gangcheori screams no and he throws the liquor and slips. Gap is ejected and he runs off. Both Gangcheori and Yeo-ri find him and he is disappointed in himself. Gangcheori points out that it was Gap who threw away the liquor in the end. However, Gap is afraid of what he might become and begs Yeo-ri to help him cross over to the afterlife. They arrive home and Mrs. Yoon realises that Gangcheori has returned. She cries for Gap and is in shock when she learns that he is dead. The shamans perform the last rites and Gap bids farewell to his mother and Yeo-ri. The King cries as he holds his own ritual for Gap in the palace. Gangcheori knows Gap has feelings for Yeo-ri and wonders why he never confessed. Gap refuses to hurt her as she would never be able to accept his feelings. Gangcheori is impressed and as farewell, agrees to take care of Mrs. Yoon and Yeo-ri. With Gap gone, Pung-san convinces Minister Ahn to destroy the ghostbane stones by tempting him with the Chief State Councillor position. Gangcheori and Yeo-ri move out while Mrs. Yoon mourns Gap. They head to a tavern and are forced to share the only available room. Ah, the classic only-one-bed trope! As they turn in for the night, Yeo-ri is still determined to resolve the ghost conflict for the sake of the ghost, the villagers and her grandmother. She also teases Gangcheori who is awkward about sharing a room. He 'jokingly' makes a proposition but Mrs. Yoon interrupts. She has been searching for them all night and takes them home. It cuts to D-Day as the inner circle gets ready for the ghost's 100th death anniversary. Kwak's officer/assassin, Jung worms his way into the security detail. The King gives his ghostbane stone to his pregnant Queen. Yeo-ri remembers her grandmother mentioning how a shaman can die if the reaper method fails. The caragana finally blooms and Gangcheori drinks its tea as he realises it may be time to sacrifice himself. The ritual begins but the ghost possesses Assassin Jung. He easily fends everyone off, including Gangcheori, and smiles at the King. At the end of The Haunted Palace Episode 14, he stabs the Queen in the stomach. The Episode Review The penultimate week ends with a shocking cliffhanger and while we are surprised by the route they took with Yoon Gap's storyline, The Haunted Palace Episode 14 is still pretty satisfactory. We almost wish the K-drama hadn't included the teaser for the finale since it explains how the possessed Assassin Jung is able to stab the Queen, who has the ghostbane stone. Mrs. Yoon shines as she quickly understands the situation surrounding Gangcheori and accepts him back after mourning her son. And while we'd expected the typical love triangle trope where Yoon Gap goes evil to make Yeo-ri his, his sacrifice fits his backstory as the kind-hearted little boy who stood up for her when she was an outcast. However, the King is a confusing little fellow with the writers taking way too much liberty with his character. The beginning of the show barely gives him any screentime before they make it up by having him work with Yeo-ri and Gangcheori. But his overaffection and PDA for Yoon Gap feel odd, especially when he and his court constantly insist on decorum with Gangcheori. Sure, the hug is a plot device to reveal the ghostbane stone but the King has not shown his own wife or son that much affection as he does to a loyal and like-minded but mere court examiner. The K-drama does highlight that the King is an emotional person with the way he mourns his evil grandfather and cries for the wronged Yongdam villagers. But it is not enough to fall in line for his character to break hierarchy and decorum with the way he does with Yoon Gap. He said: 'If The King wants to sing Easy like Sunday Morning with me, that's fantastic. It would be a hoot.' But despite his royal connections, Lionel admitted you might still find him in a British boozer. He said: 'I have my pub master Bernie. "He will take me to the latest and the greatest of the pubs.' And would he indulge in some of our great British pub snacks, like a bag of pork scratchings? 'Have I ever had some weird British food? Yes,' Lionel says with a laugh 'I had black pudding, I did not like it. "I was warming up on it for a moment and then they told me what it was and, psychologically, I just went off the rails. 'There will be no black pudding on tour for sure.' Charles always makes the same joke, says Lionel Ritchie as he opens up about friendship with King Opening up about going back on the road, Lionel explained: 'It's called play period. 'It's an excuse to leave the house and act silly all over again, otherwise life becomes boring. 'Going on tour is the best ever as my fans put on a show better than I can. "When I look out into the audience, I see all the afro wigs and moustaches . . . and that is just the girls. 'It is Lionel in the Seventies, Eighties, Nineties and Noughties — they put me all together in these various outfits. "It is amazing and fun to watch.' Now almost six decades into his career, Lionel travels with a small team including a physical therapist. Lionel said: 'You have to be in shape. "You might think that it's easy to walk on that stage but try two hours of that, plus running, plus singing. "You do that multiple times, well you better be in good condition. It is set up to wipe you out. 'PROTECT YOUR VOCALS' 'I have been doing it for so long now, it's like second nature. But don't take it for granted.' Another secret weapon in his touring armour is bringing along his own pillow on tour. He explained: 'I elevate the bed at an angle as that keeps the acid reflux at bay. "The most important part you are trying to protect is your vocals. 'Eating late is also a disaster because trying to sleep and digest food at the same time calls for a rough voice.' But while he has a team with him at all times, Lionel isn't dishing out a list of diva demands. "And I don't really need make-up by that point. 'I am on stage and enjoying it. "The last thing I would want is my mascara to be running. That is not a good look.' Even a pre-gig tipple is out of the question. Lionel laughed: 'Alcohol before a show? No, no, we don't do that. 'Back in The Commodores days you could do anything. You're bulletproof. 'But now, alcohol? No. Just get me out on stage with as much water and things to get the electrolytes going and that is it. 'I don't even know how we survived the Seventies and Eighties. "That phased out of my whole existence as purple teeth by the end of the tour was not going to be the way I wanted to go. 'I get a great bite to eat, lots of water and just wait for yourself to come down. 'Though I must admit, a good massage is needed. You need to just let your body come down. 'The worst thing to do is to try and jump into bed and think you are going to go to sleep. "You twitch for about four hours as your adrenaline is too high.' As we chatted in his dressing room, the rolling news channel on his TV showed King Charles, and conversation turned to His Majesty. Despite the invitation for a singalong, Lionel admitted: 'Listen, this guy is so busy. 'He is probably going to be the first royal to travel as much as you can imagine. 'I can see him moving around quite a bit but is he going to pop into the show and surprise me? You never know. 'Now Camilla, that would be possible. "She is a hoot in the kindest of respects. She is so funny and she has such a good sense of humour. "They both do. I love her sense of humour." He has seemingly spent a week at her South London home despite the legal row launched by his father Jeff, 46. Freddy, 20, was just four-years-old and his EastEnders actor brother Bobby, was five when their mother Jade Goody died from cervical cancer in 2009. The Big Brother legend passed away at the age of 27 after a seven month battle with cancer and he has since been raised by his dad. Since then, Jackiey and Jeff have clashed several times before The Sun on Sunday revealed that the former Dancing on Ice contestant took legal action for his son's wellbeing. Despite trying to keep the duo apart, The Mail reports that Freddy spent the last week with his grandmother at her home Bermondsey. A source told the publication: "Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long – they've always had a strong bond. "Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much. "They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat – where he has often stayed over the years. "Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn't worked."
