The WNBA complaint against the Seattle Storm: Everything we know
The Seattle Storm are the subject of another WNBA complaint, the second within the last year.
On Wednesday, iHeart Radio's Khristina Williams reported that the WNBA is reviewing a complaint that alleges that a Seattle staffer directed profanity towards a former player during a recent Storm-Las Vegas Aces matchup. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, For The Win can independently confirm a complaint was filed with the WNBA regarding a member of the Storm organization.
The latest complaint filed against Seattle is the second in as many as seven months, dating back to last year. So, how did we get here? Where did this all come from? We're here to help you out. Here's everything we know regarding the WNBA complaint filed against the Seattle Storm:
This is an ongoing story and will be updated as new information is made available.
When was the first complaint against the Seattle Storm?
In November of 2024, the Chicago Sun-Times revealed that Seattle's coaching staff was under investigation for alleged player harassment and bullying related to on-court performance and incidents during practice and games. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, former guard Jewell Loyd reportedly made the complaint against the Storm. At the time, the allegations were reportedly about incidents during practices and games and were tied to the experiences of multiple players. Although not immediately clear if related, during the same period, starting guard Skylar Diggins also shared several cryptic posts to Instagram.
What did the investigation find?
Weeks later, in December 2024, the Storm announced that a third-party investigation team did not find any violations. Here's what Seattle said via a statement to ESPN:
"The organization retained an outside investigator to conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations. The investigation has been completed and there were no findings of policy violations or any discrimination, harassment or bullying."
"To protect the integrity of the process, and to preserve confidentiality, we chose not to comment while the investigation was ongoing. The Storm will continue to provide a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect."
Was Jewell Loyd's trade request related to the Storm's investigation?
It remains unknown if the investigation into the Storm impacted Loyd's decision to request a trade, but shortly after it concluded, Loyd requested to end her time with Seattle. In January, she eventually landed with the Las Vegas Aces via a three-team trade.
What's different about this latest complaint?
Unlike the complaint from 2024, there isn't an official investigation. Still, the WNBA is looking into the matter. Following a recent Aces-Storm game, there was allegedly a confrontation. A filed complaint alleges that a Seattle assistant coach cursed at an Aces player. The league is now reviewing the incident.

Paige Bueckers' Former Teammate Sends Message After Career Move
Paige Bueckers' Former Teammate Sends Message After Career Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After winning the women's NCAA championship with Paige Bueckers at UConn roughly two months ago, Kaitlyn Chen dreamed of making it as a player in the WNBA. Advertisement She was taken with the No. 30 overall pick in the third round of April's draft by the expansion Golden State Valkyries, but she was cut on May 14 just prior to the start of the regular season. But her dream of playing pro basketball isn't necessarily over. Chen announced on X on Tuesday that she has joined 3XBA, a three-on-three women's FIBA pro basketball league that also focuses on the development of its players. She let it be known that she will be taking part in Spokane Hoopfest as part of 3XBA later this month. "Hey Hoopfest fans, this is Kaitlyn," she said. "I can't wait for 3XBA Spokane." Chen grew up in the greater Los Angeles area, where she became the all-time leader in points, assists and rebounds at Flintridge Preparatory School. As a junior and senior, she was named the All-Area Player of the Year by Pasadena Star-News, a local media outlet in the San Gabriel Valley section of the Southland. Chen became the first Taiwanese woman to win an NCAA championship, and just weeks later, she was the first to be drafted into the WNBA and play in a WNBA preseason game. Paige Bueckers' Coach Delivers Blunt Response on Disappointing Season
Paige Bueckers' Coach Delivers Blunt Response on Disappointing Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Prior to the start of this WNBA season, Chris Koclanes was hired to be the head coach of the Dallas Wings. He had been an assistant coach with the Connecitcut Sun and Los Angeles Sparks, but he had never been a head coach at either the pro or college levels. Advertisement The Wings went 9-31 last year and have struggled to be more than a middle-of-the-pack team for a long time. After losing 83-77 to the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, they fell to 1-7, which is the worst record in the league. Koclanes was asked how he has been handling the adversity he has dealt with so far this season in his first head coaching gig. "Just leaning on my support system," he said. "Leaning on that GM bucket, our coaching staff and my mentors to just trust and stay the course and continue to do the work. I need to show up consistent every single day regardless of outcome for our players and continue to exude belief and confidence in them, because that's the only way this thing is going to turn." The Wings were given a big dose of hope when they won the draft lottery, which allowed them to take UConn star Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft. Advertisement Bueckers has struggled offensively at times this season, and she has missed their last two games after being placed in concussion protocol. She had led UConn to the women's NCAA championship only about two months ago and won a slew of individual awards during her time there. Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers (5). Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images Clearly, becoming a very competitive team will be a long-term process for Dallas, and it sounds as if Koclanes has steeled himself to endure that process. The franchise has won just one playoff series since 2009, the last season it was known as the Detroit Shock. While based in Detroit, it had won three WNBA championships in 2003, 2006 and 2008.
