
Abu Dhabi's infrastructure excellence showcased at Spanish event
Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) highlighted the emirate's strategic approach to infrastructure development at the Global Leadership Forum held in Madrid, Spain.
Organised by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), it is an exclusive, invitation-only gathering for 100 of the world's most senior infrastructure leaders.
It serves as a platform for C-suite executives from government, finance, consulting engineering, construction, and related sectors to address critical challenges and opportunities facing the global infrastructure community.
In his key address, ADPIC Director General Eng. Maysarah Mahmoud Eid highlighted infrastructure's crucial role as a strategic enabler for achieving Abu Dhabi's social, economic, and environmental objectives, thus emphasising its commitment to fostering global collaboration and sustainable innovation.
His address underscored Abu Dhabi's dedication to enhancing liveability and creating thriving communities through strategic infrastructure investments, including Public-Private Partnerships.
Eid also stressed upon the importance of ensuring access to essential services, attracting new industries, and fostering innovation while prioritising environmentally responsible practices and sustainable transport solutions.
"Abu Dhabi is committed to developing infrastructure that transcends immediate needs, focusing on creating a sustainable, diversified, and resilient foundation that delivers lasting value for generations," he stated.
"We believe that by embracing technology, sustainability, and collaboration, we can not only address current challenges but also pioneer solutions that will shape the global infrastructure landscape. Abu Dhabi aims to lead with purpose, ensuring that every initiative supports global sustainability, enhances liveability, and improves accessibility to essential services and opportunities for all," he added,
He further outlined ADPIC's strategic approach to impactful, large-scale initiatives, highlighting investments that prioritise enhancing the quality of life through housing, education, healthcare, and community spaces.
"We also play a key role in economic diversification, with strategic investments in both tourism projects and transportation initiatives focused on sustainable mobility," said Eid.

Cash, celebration and a grand prize
TDT | Manama Al Baraka Islamic Bank marked Eid Al Adha with a celebration of loyalty and good fortune, awarding its June Grand Prize worth USD 120,000 and naming 50 additional winners of Eid cash rewards under its Al Barakat Investment Account programme. The headline prize, structured as a monthly salary of USD 10,000 for one full year, went to Mr. Sayed Hadi Mohsen Alawi. His name was drawn in a public raffle held at the bank's Bahrain Bay headquarters, where customers, auditors, and officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce were present. Branch visitors also took part in the process by helping randomly select winners. Banking with rewards Alongside the main winner, 50 Al Barakat customers received Eid Al Adha cash prizes of USD 500 each. The festive timing and scale of the draw underscored the Bank's message of inclusivity, customer appreciation, and community celebration. Chief Retail Officer Mazin Dhaif noted that the Al Barakat Account continues to turn clients' savings into opportunities. Bahrain imports over 30,000 livestock ahead of Eid Al-Adha
More than 30,000 animals have arrived in Bahrain ahead of Eid Al-Adha, along with thousands of tonnes of imported meat, as traders move to meet seasonal demand. Asim Abdul Latif Abdullah, Undersecretary of Agriculture and Animal Wealth Affairs, said the country had received 30,630 sheep, 91 cattle and 34 camels. A further 17,000 animals are expected to arrive in the coming days. Alongside the livestock, Bahrain has brought in 1,541 tonnes of chilled and frozen red meat and 5,299 tonnes of frozen poultry. A total of 228 import licences have been issued for meat shipments, covering both red meat and poultry. Full plan Preparations for Eid include a full plan to keep licensed slaughterhouses running smoothly. Veterinary surgeons will be stationed on site, working with abattoir doctors to examine livestock before and after slaughter. Only inspected meat is cleared for market, with carcasses stamped to show they have passed the checks. Al Hamala Slaughterhouse and the Bahrain Livestock Company facility in Sitra are among the authorised centres.
