Jamie Lever recalls getting cruel comments about her skin tone, being called ‘chudail': People told me to become fair
Johnny Lever's daughter Jamie Lever, who is an actor and comedian, recently opened up about growing up with insecurities about her body, as she was an obese child. In an interview with Hauterrfly, Jamie also revealed receiving comments about her skin tone and being called a witch. (Also Read: Jamie Lever recalls being traumatised as a 10-year-old by inappropriate men: 'Creep masturbated, conductor touched') Jamie talked about receiving criticism for her skin tone and said, "I get so many comments. Kaali hai (she's dark), chudail lagti hai (she looks like a witch), chudail jaise hasti hai (she laughs like a witch), you are ugly, you won't get work in the industry, tu marr kyu nahi jaati (why don't you just die), you are not getting work because of the way you look... Aisi shakal waali ladkiyon ko film nahi milti (girls who look like this don't get films). I have received such messages all my life. Colourism is such a huge issue here. Growing up, people would ask me to apply ubtans, turmeric masks, all of this to 'become fair'... Colourism is a major problem in our country." Jamie recalled that growing up, she had many insecurities about her body as she was a plump and obese child. She added, "There was a phase when I used to cover up my body with long kurtas. Even my family asked me to cover my posterior because I have a bigger hip. I have a pear-shaped body, so what do I do about it? I was told to do something about my body, so I didn't like myself. My body was an embarrassment for me, and it is only much later in life that I learnt how to own my body and my curves." She further recalled how her mother encouraged her to lose weight, as women in the industry are expected to look a certain way. After that, she started working on her body and posting her workout videos on social media to encourage other girls like her. Jamie started her career as a comedian on the show Comedy Circus Ke Mahabali on Sony Entertainment Television in 2013. In 2015, she made her Bollywood debut with Kapil Sharma's film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. She then featured in several movies like Housefull 4, Bhoot Police, Yaatris, and Crakk among others. She was last seen in the Telugu film Aa Okkati Adakku. Apart from this, Jamie has also gained popularity for her mimicry videos on social media.

Padmini Kolhapure reveals how niece Shraddha Kapoor chooses her roles with family support
Veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure recently opened up about the thoughtful approach her niece, Shraddha Kapoor, takes when selecting film roles. According to Padmini, the 'Stree' actress doesn't make decisions in isolation; instead, she carefully considers advice from her close family members before finalising her choices. Speaking to IANS, Padmini shared that Shraddha often discusses potential projects with her mother, Shivangi Kolhapure; sister, Tejaswini, father Shakti Kapoor, and even Padmini herself. The senior actress mentioned that this collective support system helps the young actress weigh the pros and cons of each opportunity, ensuring that she makes well-informed decisions that align with her career goals and personal values. Padmini revealed that despite taking input from her family, Shraddha ultimately trusts her own instincts. The 'Vidhaata' actress shared, 'Advice, in the sense Shraddha discusses. like with my sister Tejaswini, her mom Shivangi, me, her father, and, of course, also my husband. So, because she hears everybody, she kind of weighs the pros and cons, and then she goes ahead with her decisions in picking the films.' Padmini Kolhapure is Shraddha Kapoor's aunt. Padmini's elder sister, Shivangi Kolhapure, who was also an actress, is married to veteran actor Shakti Kapoor and is the mother of actors Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor. Speaking about guiding her son Priyaank Sharma, Padmini Kolhapure admitted she is her son's toughest critic. When asked about her approach to supporting her son, who debuted in the 2019 film 'Sab Kushal Mangal,' the veteran star revealed that her family never pushed him into acting. Instead, they encouraged his genuine interest while preparing him for the tough realities of the industry. 'The film came out in 2019, and then COVID happened, so things stalled for him,' she said. 'My husband is a producer, I'm an actress, but we never had those typical dreams of forcing him to be an actor. He showed interest gradually, and we supported him.' Padmini stressed the importance of independence and hard work, sharing that her son was sent to Strasbourg to understand the challenges beyond glamour. 'I keep telling him this job isn't easy. It's blood, sweat, and tears,' she remarked, referencing her own experiences and the hard work she's seen from other actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Anil Kapoor.

Vikrant Massey REACTS To Prithviraj Chauhan Show: 'He Was Never Truly Defeated'
Last Updated: Vikrant Massey praises Sony TV's Prithviraj Chauhan show, calls the king a timeless hero and questions misleading historical narratives about his defeat by Ghori. Actor Vikrant Massey, known for his powerful performances in both television and film, has recently opened up about his deep connection with Indian history—especially the legacy of warrior-king Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. Inspired by the promo of Sony TV's upcoming historical show Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Massey took to Instagram to express his thoughts on the misunderstood narratives around one of India's greatest rulers. Massey, who began his acting career with TV shows like Balika Vadhu and has since transitioned into acclaimed films such as 12th Fail and The Sabarmati Report, revealed that history has long been a personal passion. 'Very few people know that history has always been my favorite subject," he shared. 'Even today, I read history books simply out of interest—because to understand the present, it is essential to understand the past." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Vikrant Massey (@vikrantmassey) Commenting on the promo of the new series, Massey addressed the long-contested story of Prithviraj Chauhan's conflict with Mohammad Ghori. 'Who says that Prithviraj Chauhan was defeated by Mohammad Ghori?" he questioned. 'Chauhan defeated Ghori multiple times and spared his life every time. It was only when Ghori used deceit that he succeeded. He captured Chauhan, blinded him, and had him killed in an inhumane manner." The actor went on to challenge commonly accepted historical narratives. 'Books may say, and our neighboring country may believe, that Ghori defeated Chauhan. But that's not the full truth. A nation or civilization doesn't fall in a day—it takes centuries. And even now, nearly 1,000 years later, India thrives. On the other hand, Ghori's own land, Ghor, is among the most underdeveloped in the world." With great pride, Massey concluded, 'Prithviraj still lives on. We are proud of him. But in Ghori's country, no one even speaks his name." Massey's impassioned reflection has added to the anticipation around Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, which promises to bring alive a defining era of Indian history. Airing Monday to Friday at 7:30 PM on Sony TV and streaming on Sony LIV, the show offers a compelling look into the life, battles, and undying spirit of the legendary Rajput king. First Published:
