Telfar's Joyful, Shoppable Declaration of Independence
Two and a quarter hours is a long time for any superstar to ask fans to wait for a show to start. But on Saturday night in Cortlandt Alley, a somewhat grimy passageway between Broadway and Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan, hundreds of people, including Solange Knowles, seemed perfectly happy to wile away the evening in expectation of what was to come.
Namely, Telfar Clemens's 20th-anniversary fashion show, which was the first official show of his namesake label in almost three years, though 'fashion show' was something of a misnomer for the event. Yes, there were clothes involved, and yes, there was a catwalk (or at least the street), and yes, there were people seated on either side along with photographers.
But the parade that finally started at 8:15 p.m. bore about as much resemblance to a traditional fashion show as Mr. Clemens's signature tank tops — twisted, asymmetric, backless, upside-down — do the standard undergarment. Instead, it was a celebration, a happening and a collective shout of triumph in the face of the current political climate.
Not to mention a reflection of the way Mr. Clemens, who founded his brand on the premise of inclusivity long before D.E.I. was a corporate calling card or a political lightning rod, has redesigned American basics — cutting pants to play peekaboo with the thigh; making athletic shirts into the equivalent of royal robes. Rejecting the traditional system, he built his empire his way, transforming a logo into a not-so-secret password to a world that defines luxury not as a sign of material success, but as being seen. There is a reason he held his show not during the usual ready-to-wear season in September or February, but on the weekend after Juneteenth.

JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH Director Says Ridley Scott's KINGDOM OF HEAVEN Helped Shape the Look of the Sequel — GeekTyrant
When you think of Ridley Scott's influence on modern filmmakers, your mind probably jumps to Alien or Blade Runner . But for Jurassic World: Rebirth director Gareth Edwards, it was Kingdom of Heaven , Scott's 2005 historical epic, that helped define the visual tone for his upcoming dinosaur-adventure thriller. In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Edwards opened up about his creative process and how that medieval drama unexpectedly became a major source of inspiration for the new Jurassic sequel. Specifically, he praised the film's cinematographer, John Mathieson, whose work with Scott goes all the way back to Gladiator . 'John Mathieson was the director of photography, and the more and more I looked at it, the more I was like, 'This is perfection.' There's not a bad frame in this movie. I've always had this love for his work.' Mathieson has built a long-running collaboration with Scott, having also shot Robin Hood , The Man in the High Castle pilot, and the upcoming Gladiator II . His style is rich, elegant, and painterly, which are traits you wouldn't typically associate with a movie about dinosaurs, but Edwards clearly had a vision. The director said he was determined to work with Mathieson, but it required some careful maneuvering through studio preferences and the approval of executive producer Steven Spielberg. 'When you start a film like this, you have a group of names you'd like to work with, and the studio have a group of names they would trust. Then there's Steven [Spielberg] as well in the middle of that. There was this one little overlap where they all intersected, and everyone agreed on Mathieson.' That overlap turned out to be a win for Edwards.. While the movie may not feature knights and siege towers, the visual tone of Kingdom of Heaven will be there in the atmosphere, the lighting, and the framing of a world where dinosaurs are going around terrorizing people. Jurassic World: Rebirth hits theaters on July 2, 2025.

'Snow White' actress Rachel Zegler is unconcerned about how her views on Gaza could affect her career
Print Close By Rachel del Guidice Published June 23, 2025 Actress Rachel Zegler, who starred in Disney's "Snow White" live-action reboot, said she is not concerned about how her views on Gaza affect her career in an interview published Monday. "My compassion has no boundaries, is really what it is," Zegler told culture outlet i-D. "And my support for one cause does not denounce any others," she added. "That's always been at the core of who I am as a person. It's the way I was raised." 'SNOW WHITE' STAR RACHEL ZEGLER BLUNTED DISNEY'S 'MAGIC' WITH OUTSPOKEN POLITICS, 'NO FILTER' HOST SAYS "Snow White" became Disney's worst-performing wide-release live-action remake in almost 10 years. The 2025 remake of the original 1937 movie opened March 21 in the United States and Canada, and struggled at the box office, earning barely $200 million worldwide. Zegler, the film's lead actress, faced backlash on social media for comments she made that were critical of the 1937 version of "Snow White." "I mean, you know, the original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so," Zegler said during Disney's D23 Expo in 2022. "There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird. So we didn't do that this time." Zegler also became a lightning rod for controversy when she expressed her views on the Israel-Gaza war. In an August 2024 X post talking about the official trailer for "Snow White," the actress wrote, "And always remember, free Palestine." She also lashed out at people who voted for President Donald Trump, saying in an Instagram post, "May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace," adding, "F--- Donald Trump." She later apologized, saying in part that "Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding." 'SNOW WHITE' ACTRESS RACHEL ZEGLER'S OLD TWEET CURSING OUT TRUMP RESURFACES AS FILM FLOUNDERS In the interview with i-D, Zegler said she will take the risk of being "outspoken." "There are obviously things that are at stake by being outspoken, but nothing is worth innocent lives," Zegler said. "My heart doesn't have a fence around it, and if that is considered my downfall," adding, "there are worse things." In the interview she talked about dealing with the film's poor reception and that she saw a psychiatrist and got on anxiety medication. She also said that she rejects a "victim mindset." "I think a victim mindset is a choice, and I don't choose it," Zegler said. "I also don't choose nastiness in the face of it. I don't choose negativity in the face of it. I choose positivity and light and happiness. And I do believe at times, happiness is absolutely a choice, and every day I wake up, and I think I'm very lucky to live the life I live."
