'Jasprit Bumrah is like Mumbai housing prices': Hardik Pandya
It was a night that saw
flex their championship mettle once again. In a record-breaking IPL Eliminator in Mullanpur — where both teams combined for a staggering 436 runs, the highest ever in playoff history — MI held their nerve to beat Gujarat Titans by 20 runs and march into Qualifier 2.

While the scoreboard lit up with sixes and boundaries, it was Mumbai's ability to win the clutch moments that stood out. Skipper
, facing his former franchise in a high-pressure knockout, was full of praise for his team's temperament and timing.
'At one point of time the game was even-stevens,' Pandya said after the win. 'I thought the wicket got better in the second innings. It started to come on well, they got into rhythm and we realised we need to hold our nerves and back our boys.'
He singled out Jonny Bairstow's explosive debut knock and
's composed 81 as pivotal. 'The way Jonny batted and started... for him to make his debut for us, it's a special franchise, coming in and playing the way he played. The way Ro batted — he took his time and once he got into rhythm, it was beautiful.'
Pandya also praised his bowling unit, particularly Richard Gleeson's final over under injury duress and
's clinical spell.
'The way Gleeson bowled. Jassi being Jassi. Ashwani... everyone chipped in well and we held our nerves. I would've liked couple more (big hits). The little margins help. We wanted to push in batting and I think we were able to do that.'
Asked when he decides to bowl Bumrah, Pandya smiled: 'It's very simple. Whenever you think the game is going away, just bring him. When you have that it's a luxury. It's like Mumbai housing prices – he's that expensive.'

The final overs were tense, but Pandya had it planned. 'I was just watching the scoreboard and I thought if we can keep extra runs at the end, I had the bowlers to bowl it. It was important that Jassi comes and bowls that over so that the margin becomes longer (the 18th over). Very important to recover well. Looking forward to the next game.'
With this victory, Mumbai Indians set up a Qualifier 2 clash against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on June 1. The winner will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 Final.

RCB vs PBKS Ahmedabad Weather Forecast IPL 2025 Final: Will inclement rain delay crowning of first-time champions?
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings are gearing up for a high-stakes IPL final, both aiming to break their long-standing title drought. Despite being part of the league since its inception, neither franchise has managed to lift the coveted trophy—making this clash a golden opportunity to finally rewrite their history. The two teams finished in the top two after the league stage, with Punjab leading the charts with 19 points and Bengaluru right behind them with the same points but an inferior Net Run Rate. However, the win in Qualifier 1 will give Rajat Patidar and Co. a big boost over Punjab Kings, whom they have already beaten twice this season. However, the weather forecast might hamper both teams' plans, as it doesn't look all that pleasant at the moment. According to AccuWeather, there's a 66 per cent chance of rain in Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon, casting some concern over the final for both teams and their fans. Temperatures are likely to hover around a sweltering 38 degree Celsius with high humidity levels. However, conditions are expected to ease by evening, with rain chances dropping to just 5 per cent. Despite that, a lingering 33 per cent cloud cover could still keep both camps on edge. Meanwhile, according to the IPL Final conditions, an additional hour to the playtime, extending the duration to 120 minutes and having a reserve day in the final are the measures in place to ensure the contest is completed. Rain had also disrupted the start of the PBKS vs MI Qualifier 2, causing a delayed kickoff. However, once the match got underway, there were no further interruptions, and Punjab Kings delivered a commanding performance to secure their spot in the final. Iyer, who had led Kolkata Knight Riders to a title triumph in 2024, produced a stunning 41-ball unbeaten 87 against MI as Punjab Kings reached their first final in 11 years. RCB and PBKS have already clashed three times this season. Punjab Kings took the upper hand in their first meeting, but RCB bounced back emphatically, winning the next two encounters—most notably a dominant performance in Qualifier 1 that will have boosted their confidence.

"Mad proud of the boys": Ranveer Singh sends uplifting message for Mumbai Indians players post heartbreaking loss to Punjab Kings
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 2 (ANI): Actor Ranveer Singh, who is an avid cricket follower, penned an uplifting message for the Mumbai Indians team after they lost to Punjab Kings in IPL's Qualifier 2. Taking to Instagram Story, the 'Band Baaja Baaraat' star wrote, 'Not ours this time but still mad proud of the boys. Showed our might and mettle in a hard-fought tournament. Still the most feared team in the league. Unbreakable spirit. Indefatigable Indians.' Five-time champions MI ended their IPL campaign with a crushing loss to PBKS by five wickets at Ahmedabad on Sunday night, booking a title clash between PBKS and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl first. After losing Rohit Sharma early, a 51-run stand between Jonny Bairstow (38 in 24 balls, with three fours and two sixes) and Tilak Varma (44 in 29 balls, with two fours and two sixes) pushed MI forward. A 72-run partnership for the third wicket between Tilak and Suryakumar Yadav (44 in 26 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes) helped MI keep a healthy run rate. All MI needed was a final push from Naman Dhir (37 in 18 balls, with seven fours) to take MI to 203/6 in 20 Omarzai (2/43) was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS. Kyle Jamieson, Marcus Stoinis, Yuzi Chahal and Vijaykumar Vyshak took a wicket each. In the run chase, PBKS had some stumbles initially despite a blitz from Josh Inglis (38 in 21 balls, with five fours and a six), who took down Jasprit Bumrah for 20 runs in an over. An 84-run stand between Nehal Wadhera (48 in 29 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes) and skipper Shreyas Iyer helped PBKS maintain the required tempo for the chase. After quick dismissals of Wadhera and Shashank reduced PBKS to 169/5 in 16.4 overs, a ruthless Shreyas (87* in 41 balls, with five fours and eight sixes) took down pace to guide his team to five-wicket win with an over left. Ashwani Kumar (2/55) was the top bowler for MI. Trent Boult (1/38) and Hardik Pandya (1/19) took one wicket each. Bumrah was wicketless for 40 runs in four overs. Iyer was given the 'Player of the Match' honour for his clutch knock. The final between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru is set for Tuesday at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. (ANI)

Sunil Gavaskar Lauds Shreyas Iyer's Smart Captaincy After Rohit Sharma Falls in IPL 2025 Qualifier 2
In a crucial moment during Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, Sunil Gavaskar heaped praise on Shreyas Iyer for his sharp tactical move that led to the dismissal of Rohit Sharma. The former India captain was visibly impressed in the commentary box after Marcus Stoinis got Rohit out in the third over, crediting Iyer's spot-on field placement. Punjab Kings had won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, setting the stage for a high-voltage knockout match. Mumbai Indians started cautiously after being put in to bat, but Rohit Sharma's early departure in the third over tilted the momentum slightly in Punjab's favour. The MI skipper attempted to take on Stoinis by going aerial over deep square leg, but mistimed the shot and was caught right at the boundary. The fielder barely had to move, a testament to the precision in field placement from Shreyas Iyer. 'Big boundary that and unless you middle it, you are going to get into trouble, Let's have a look at whether he middled it or not. Maybe, toe end of the bat, but you are always taking a chance and the fielder did not have to move an inch here or there. Brilliant captaincy. Brilliant field placing by Shreyas Iyer," said Gavaskar on air. Punjab Kings made a key change going into this game, bringing back Yuzvendra Chahal into the XI. Mumbai, on the other hand, had to make a forced change, with Reece Topley replacing Richard Gleeson, who was ruled out due to a niggle. Rain had delayed the start of the match briefly, but luckily no overs were lost and play resumed on time. With both teams eyeing a spot in the final, Punjab Kings entered the contest with a slight edge, though MI had the confidence of a dominant win over Gujarat Titans in the previous game. The winner of this clash will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on June 3, at the same venue. RCB had already sealed their place after defeating Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1.
