Fardeen Khan reveals he stopped having alcohol and became sober in 2020: 'It was interfering with my life'

Fardeen Khan made his comeback on screen after many years with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi'. The actor is now seen in 'Housefull 5' which also stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa among many others. Apart from his on-screen appearances, Fardeen has also been in the news for his drastic weight transformation. In a recent interview, the actor has spoken about about his journey towards losing weight. He revealed that he also gave up on alcohol and is sober since 2020. The actor said during a chat with Cyrus Broacha on his Youtube channel, "I knew I had to get in a certain shape. I was 102 or 103 kilos at my heaviest and not muscle — just good old body fat. Last week I was 78 kgs. I lost 25 kgs." Fardeen further added how he had to give up on alcohol. "I was at a stage where I just didn't feel myself. I became sober in 2020 and I stopped alcohol in one go. I needed to stop, it was interfering with my life. I took professional help to stop and it was the best decision I have made in my life. I started drinking at a very young so this was the first time the brain fog lifted." Earlier, in an interview Fardeen had spoken about taking time off from movies as he was concentrating on his personal life. Him and his wife Natasha had moved to London and they were facing trouble having children. He said during a chat with Bollywood Hungama, "We were having challenges having children, and that's when we decided to take the IVF route. That's why I needed to take some time off. It wasn't meant to be this long. I thought only for a few years… get everything settled, but things didn't happen that way. Then, when my daughter was born, my heart melted, and I thought, let's spend some time with her.' Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies . Throwback: When Shah Rukh Khan clarified Bauua Singh is nothing like Kamal Haasan's Appu Raja: This film is not about…

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) In a throwback to the time leading up to the release of Zero (2018), Shah Rukh Khan addressed growing comparisons between his character Bauua Singh and Kamal Haasan 's iconic role in 'Appu Raja' (1989). Earlier, responding to speculation after Zero's teaser launch, SRK categorically denied any similarities between the two characters, insisting that the story of Zero goes far beyond physical stature. 'It's About Incompleteness, Not Height' As reported by Peeping Moon when asked whether Bauua Singh shared any traits with Appu Raja, Shah Rukh Khan responded firmly: 'Not at all. This film is not about a vertically-challenged person. It's about incompleteness.' He clarified that while Bauua Singh happens to be short in stature, Zero is a film that delves into human flaws, emotional vulnerabilities, and how individuals find joy in spite of them. He added that the film sought to break stereotypes, especially the outdated idea that people with disabilities or differences are relegated to circus-like settings in narratives. 'One of the other things that we didn't want to have is that it's a given that if you're vertically challenged, you would be in a circus. We didn't want that in the film,' he stated. After intolerance remark, SRK plays it safe this time! SRK Praises Kamal Haasan's Vision Despite dismissing comparisons, Shah Rukh was full of praise for Kamal Haasan and Appu Raja. 'Appu Raja was fantastic. Full marks to Kamal sir to even attempt it. Only he, with his weird, intelligent way of thinking, can do it,' SRK said, acknowledging the boldness of the 1989 film and its lasting impact. He stressed that Zero aimed to shatter the myth that physical or emotional 'incompleteness' leads to negativity. 'You can celebrate life in spite of being incomplete. So, it's not about the height,' he concluded. On the work front, Kamal Haasan recently starred in 'Thug Life' which is directed by Mani Ratnam. Unfortunately the film is getting mixed reviews.
