‘Smalltima, Talltima, Recalltima:' Man Says All Nissans are ‘Altima-Based.' Then He Reveals Why

As summer approaches, this man says you need to beware of Nissan Altimas hitting the road. He may have a point.
While sedans have dwindled in popularity, Altimas have remained at the top of Nissan's bestseller list and are generally popular due to their fuel efficiency, comfort, and price.

Despite their popularity, it's unclear if the company will continue producing one of its best-selling products. It's rumored that Nissan will discontinue the
Altima
in 2026. Altima haters everywhere are rejoicing at the thought of having fewer of these vehicles on the road.
But how did the Altima become so notorious?
A Punchline With Four Wheels
In a Facebook
Reel
, car lover Shadetreemotors jokingly accuses Nissan of lacking creativity in its designs.
'Watch out, everyone, it's springtime. That means the Altimas will become more aggressive and numerous,' Shadetreemotors jests while showing clips of broken down and damaged Altimas.

To help people stay safe out there, he compiled a list of all the Nissans you should look out for on the road. Fair warning, his list is highly unserious.
'Remember, Nissan doesn't make any car that isn't Altima based,' Shadetreemotors says in the reel.
As images of various models of damaged Nissans flash by, Shadetreemotors describes them as the Smalltima, Talltima (pickup truck), Crawltima (bigger truck), HVACinstalltima (white cargo van), Beckywe'regoingtothemalltima (pink SUV), and Recalltima (Nissan with a deployed airbag).
'Stay safe out there,' he warns.
One of the Most Dangerous Cars on the Road
Shadetreemotors may have been joking, but he does have a point about Altimas being dangerous.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an independent nonprofit dedicated to making vehicles and roads safer, conducted a study of driver deaths that occurred from 2018 to 2021. It found that the Nissan Altima has among the worst death rates. The Altima comes in at number nine for driver death and 14 for other driver death.
In contrast, the Nissan Pathfinder 2WD and Nissan Murano 2WD were among the safest for driver deaths. According to the study, the vehicles with the highest rate of driver deaths are:
Mitsubishi Mirage G4
Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback
Dodge Challenger 2WD
Hyundai Accent
Chevrolet Spark
Kia Rio sedan
Dodge Charger HEMI 2WD
Chevrolet Camaro convertible
Nissan Altima
Kia Forte
The study found the vehicles with the highest rates of other-driver deaths are:
Ram 3500 Crew Cab long bed 4WD
Dodge Charger HEMI 2WD
Ford F-350 Crew Cab 4WD
Ram 2500 Mega Cab 4WD
Kia Optima
Kia Rio sedan
Ram 2500 Crew Cab short bed 4WD
Ford F-250 Crew Cab 4WD
Dodge Charger 2WD
Ram 1500 Crew Cab short bed 2WD
Why the Bad Rep?
The consensus on Altima drivers being reckless is so clear that there's even a term for it: 'Big Altima Energy.'
And despite having good safety ratings, from 2020-2022,
The Autopian
reports that Altimas had a
crash claim rate
45% above average and more than double the average rate of personal injury and medical payment claims for midsize sedans.
One Redditor shared
why they think
this may be the case. They think it has to do with the drivers, not the car.
'Nissans are heavily used in the rental market and resold cheaply—who buys cheap cars?' they wrote. 'Poor people and those with bad driving records who can't get financing. People working delivery jobs, or multiple jobs—both with an elevated risk for accidents. I mean—any other vehicle could slot right in if used the same way.'
Commenters React
People were highly amused by Shadetreemotors' take on Nissans.
'I saw this a year ago and always laugh to myself whenever I see an HVAC Installtima,' a top comment reads.
'My dads Altima is called the Assaultima. I named it,' one person shared.
'I'm a dealer, the one and only Altima I got had a bullet hole in it,' another wrote.
'Nissan Altimas always have the right of way…. Whoever is less afraid to get into an accident will always have the right of way,' a commenter said.
Via direct message, Shadetreemotors told
Motor1, "
Nissan is a terrible car company and all their cars are based on one terrible car."
"As a mechanic I can confidently say not one of their current cars is remotely reliable."

2025 Ford F-150 Lobo Is the Street Truck We've Been Waiting For

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo is a performance-oriented street truck in the vein of the original SVT Lightning. Along with a 400-hp V-8, the Lobo treatment includes a lowered ride, a body kit, a unique grille with illuminated elements, and exclusive 22-inch wheels. The F-150 Lobo starts at $59,995, and Ford says it will go on sale this fall. Ford's full-size pickup truck offers multiple off-road-ready variants, from the Tremor to the Raptor. However, the F-150 has lacked a model that prioritizes performance on the street—until now. Enter the 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo. It's essentially the spiritual successor to the SVT Lightning from the '90s. Lobo Life Ford has since used the Lightning moniker on its electric pickup, which makes up to 580 horsepower but otherwise lacks the features that define a street truck. Josh Blundo, Ford's lead exterior designer on the F-150 and Maverick Lobos, says those definitive features include a dropped ride height, assertive styling, and—in the case of the F-150—a V-8 and dual exhausts. View Photos Ford That's why every F-150 Lobo includes a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 that makes 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard (sorry, rear-drive fans), and it has an upgraded automatic two-speed transfer case. The Lobo isn't just a show truck, either. It can handle a payload of up to 1450 pounds, and it's rated to pull a trailer that weighs as much as 7900 pounds. Sure, you can get the same V-8 on other F-150 models, but only the Lobo looks this distinctive. Blundo says a revised suspension dropped the rear end by two inches, and the ride height looks even lower with the addition of a 10-piece body kit. Unfortunately, the Lobo doesn't sit nearly as low as its gas-powered Lightning predecessors. The new street truck also rolls on exclusive black-painted 22-inch wheels. They're cushioned by a set of Bridgestone Alenza all-seasons, which aren't as grippy as summer rubber but measure 275/50. Ford View Photos Ford The exterior dressings don't end there. No, sir. Ford also fitted the Lobo with a muscle-car-like cowl hood, and it has black-painted hood vents too. Black badges on the front fenders, black barrel-like exhaust tips, and a black rear bumper extend the sinister color scheme. The Lobo's face is another facet that separates it from the F-150 your contractor drives. Along with a body-color front bumper that contains a wide lower grille, the upper grille has a unique mesh that's bisected by lighting elements that connect with the headlamps. Inside, the Lobo has cloth seats with yellow contrast stitching, a leather-wrapped center-console lid, and a dash topped with a racy-looking material. The driver faces a digital gauge cluster, and there's a sizable 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system like you'll find in other F-150s. Ford didn't say what options are available on the Lobo, other than it's available with five paint colors: Agate Black Metallic, Atlas Blue Metallic, Carbonized Gray, Oxford White, and Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. View Photos Ford The Lobo is a package that's available on the F-150's STX trim. However, turning the latter into a street truck requires the crew-cab (a.k.a. SuperCrew) body style, the 5.5-foot cargo bed, and the aforementioned V-8, all-wheel-drive configuration. Pricing for the 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo starts at $59,995. It'll be built at Ford's factory in Dearborn, Michigan, and it's slated to go on sale sometime this fall. 'Make Sure Your Manager...Doesn't See It:' Man Says His Boss Retaliated Against Him After Seeing His 'Nice Car'

One of the downsides of having nice things? Haters start watching you. That's the PSA TikToker John Jihe (@johnjihe) is sharing in a now-viral video, where he claims his manager secretly resented him for driving a nice car. In his video, Jihe says the experience taught him a hard truth: Some people just 'don't wanna see you win.' The message hit home. As of this writing, his video has racked up more than 1.2 million views. What Happened? Notably, Jihe doesn't say where he worked or spell out what exactly his manager did, but he made it clear that, after a while, the workplace turned hostile. He said the shift came in small, petty ways that added up over time. 'If you drive a nice car to work, make sure your manager … doesn't see it,' he warned in the video. 'Once they see it, it's over.' If they do, he added, they 'might cut your hours or try to fire you.' According to Jihe, that's exactly what happened. He claims that after his boss clocked his Dodge Challenger, she started chipping away at his hours and nitpicking him over minor issues. He said it all started when she spotted him behind the wheel and 'made a face.' From there, things went downhill fast. 'That same month, I was gone,' Jihe said. A Challenger Makes a Statement Texas Car Direct calls the Challenger 'a modern classic' that continues to win over both first-time buyers and die-hard muscle car fans. And according to Kelley Blue Book , a 2023 model can easily top $30,000, with high-end versions pushing $90,000. Of course, those are just ballpark figures. It's unclear how much Jihe paid—or whether his manager assumed the car was brand new, overly expensive, or simply too nice for someone in his position. Either way, the optics alone seemed to stir the pot. Challengers, for what it's worth, are generally seen as more budget-friendly than true luxury brands like BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes. Many don't consider them luxury cars at all. They fall squarely in the muscle car category—more about power and performance than plush interiors or prestige. Sure, some trims come with leather seats, upgraded infotainment systems, and other premium touches. But those features are designed to amplify the drive, not necessarily compete with a luxury sedan. Viewers Say They've Dealt With Hater Bosses, Too Commenters flooded Jihe's video with their own stories, saying they too had dealt with bosses—or other authority figures—who couldn't stomach someone else's success. 'I went to a job interview with a designer bag and she said 'you must have money,'' one woman shared. 'I haven't received a call back yet.' 'This actually happened to me, but it wasn't even my car, it was my mom's car cause mine was getting fixed,' another wrote. 'It was a 2024 Genesis GV70 Prestige. They all kept giving me weird looks.' 'I drive an Audi, and every job starts treating me unfairly after they see my car,' a third chimed in. 'Like it's just a [expletive] car.' 'I hid my BMW in the garage away from everyone for a month,' a fourth commenter added. 'As soon as my coworkers saw it… My work was nit-picked to death.' Others pointed out that it's not just bosses you have to watch out for. The haters, they said, could be anyone: neighbors, fake friends, even family. 'It's not just the managers,' one viewer said. 'Colleagues, too.' 'Jealously everywhere, be wise and discreet,' another warned. 'Neighbors are haters, too,' someone else echoed. Motor1 has reached out to Jihe via a TikTok comment.
