'You can go from indispensable to superfluous in a heartbeat'
There will be time to debate who has had a great tournament as the Club World Cup unfolds but one player has had a nightmare.
Nicolas Jackson may not be a name to conjure familiarity for fans across the United States but he could be ready to disappear fairly soon from the Chelsea fold.

Nicolas has managed to get stupidly sent off in two of his past four games. Against Newcastle in the Premier League, it nearly cost Chelsea a top five finish, a place in the Champions League and a cool £50m to £100m in earnings. Chelsea got lucky and qualified by the skin of their teeth, no thanks to Nic.
If Chelsea lose to Tunis and go out of this tournament, the suits upstairs at Stamford Bridge will not be impressed with another £5m leaking out of the club due to his impetuousness.
On top of that, Jackson has suddenly gone from the 'go-to' number nine, to merely the back up for new boy Liam Delap. I was at a Chelsea supporters' event on Saturday night and the entire group had already written off Jackson in favour of Delap - and the latter has only played a combined 90 minutes of football for the club.
Jackson needs some love right now. He is a good striker and he was on an impressive upward learning curve before his injury earlier in the season. He is still one of the fastest strikers around, if not the most natural finisher.

The problem is, I am not sure this will be enough for Chelsea now. He could do a job for a good Italian, French or Spanish side. For Chelsea it will all come down to the money offered but it just shows the vicious nature of football. You can go from indispensable to superfluous in a heartbeat - or 90 minutes at least.

Novak Djokovic, Madison Keys, Ben Shelton, Jessica Pegula, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, along with ATP and WTA world number ones Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka, also make appearances. 'This year's Wimbledon campaign beautifully elevates the sport's rising stars and compelling narratives through a powerful and cinematic thematic,' said Rachel Epstein, Vice President, Live Sports and Audience Expansion at ESPN. 'It's a fresh and distinctive approach that not only captures the elegance and intensity of the tournament, but also underscores the depth of our coverage from day one through the finals.' Wimbledon is widely considered one of the most prestigious of all tennis Grand Slams, known for its storied grounds, rich traditions, and unique idiosyncrasies. The call of 'quiet please' comes from umpires to hush the crowd. This backdrop sets the stage for ESPN's newest installment of its 'Quiet Please' marketing campaign, which highlights the contrast between Wimbledon's timeless elegance and the high-energy play on the court. This year, from June 30 through July 13, ESPN will offer 'first ball to last ball coverage' across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes, totaling more than 250 hours of live coverage with every match on every court streaming live on ESPN+. Benfica beats Bayern Munich 1-0 to take the top spot in Group C in the Club World Cup
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Andreas Schjelderup scored in the 13th minute to give Benfica a 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich on Tuesday, sending the Portuguese club to the top of Group C in the Club World Cup. The loss dropped Bayern Munich to second place in the group. Boca Juniors was eliminated from contention by the result. Bayern suffered its first loss of the tournament as it struggled to find a rhythm ahead of the knockout stages later this week. The game was marked by high heat with temperatures reaching 97 degrees Fahrenheit (36 Celsius). Key moment Schjelderup's early goal changed the dynamic. Though insufficient, Bayern made an attacking effort that fell short against Benfica's organized defense, leaving the German champions unable to find an equalizer despite increased pressure in the second half. Key stat Bayern entered the game with only four of the players that started in their Friday night win over Boca Juniors. Despite using all five substitutions at halftime to introduce Harry Kane, Konrad Laimer, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Olise and Jonathan Tah, Bayern was unable to score. ___ AP soccer:
