'We Honour Daughters': Chandrababu Naidu Slams Offensive Remarks Against Amaravati Women

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his deputy Pawan Kalyan on Sunday condemned derogatory remarks allegedly made by a couple of journalists against women of Amaravati.
Mr Naidu referred to alleged offensive statements made by a journalist in a vernacular news channel who allegedly made highly disparaging comments against the women of greenfield capital city Amaravati.
The women in Amaravati on Sunday took out a protest march condemning the remarks made by journalists.
"Ours is a culture that honours daughters. We revere women as divine, especially among Telugu people who hold mothers and daughters in highest esteem," Mr Naidu said in a post on 'X'.
The Chief Minister said that people had already rejected this toxic mindset through the democratic mandate, yet derogatory narratives still persist against women in the capital region of Amaravati.
Mr Naidu termed the silence of opposition leader and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy over the alleged remarks as "deeply troubling".
The Chief Minister further said that the offensive remarks are not just political attacks. They are assaults on every woman's dignity and pride, he said, demanding accountability and apology.
He assured that strict action would follow, emphasising the NDA government's commitment to uphold women's respect. We will not let such culture prevail, he said.
Similarly, Pawan Kalyan said Amaravati, a land enriched with the legacy of Gautama Buddha, stands as a historic symbol of peace where Buddhism once thrived and spiritual traditions flourished.
"This (Amaravati) is a land sanctified by Gautama Buddha and Acharya Nagarjuna. Such remarks demean the legacy of Amaravati and insult the dignity of its women," said Kalyan in a post on 'X'.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Telangana Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan is scheduled to visit 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' (VKSA) programme sites in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana on Monday. The visit intends to facilitate interaction with farmers and provide strategic guidance to enhance the campaign's impact, an official release said. During the visit, the minister will interact with the farmers in Mansanpally and Ramachandraguda villages of the district. About 1,500 farmers and farm women from across Telangana are expected to participate in the scientist-farmer interaction session to gain insights into sustainable practices, improved technologies, and integrated approaches to agriculture and aquaculture, it said. NDA govt redefined women-led development in 11 yrs: PM

In all sectors, including science, education, sports, startups and the armed forces, women are excelling and inspiring several people, Modi said on X. He cited a number of welfare programmes which, he noted, have benefitted women immensely. Various initiatives, from ensuring dignity through Swachh Bharat to financial inclusion via Jan Dhan accounts, the focus has been on empowering the women, he said. If 'Ujjwala Yojana' brought smoke-free kitchens running on gas cylinders to the poor households, 'MUDRA' loans enabled lakhs of women entrepreneurs to pursue dreams on their own terms. Houses under the women's name in PM Awas Yojana too have made a remarkable impact, Modi added. 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' (save daughter, educate daughter) programme ignited a national movement to protect the girl child, he said. The Prime Minister shared a thread of a government-run citizenship engagement platform, which listed benefits brought to women by several government schemes. It said the maternal mortality ratio declined to 93 per lakh live births in 2019-21 from 167 in 2011-13, and the households with tap water connections zoomed to 15.64 crore in May 2025 from 3.23 crore in August 2019. Over 10 crore cooking gas connections were given under the Ujjwala scheme, it said, while highlighting several other welfare measures targeting women. In the run up to the anniversary, Modi has been highlighting his government's work for different sections of society, including the poor, farmers and youths.

Revanth expands Cabinet
Hyderabad: The much-awaited State Cabinet expansion took place on Sunday, with three Ministers taking oath and being inducted into the Cabinet. G Vivek Venkataswamy (Chennur), Adluri Laxman Kumar (Dharmapuri), and Vakiti Srihari (Makthal) were sworn in as ministers by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, his Cabinet colleagues, Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud, and senior officials attended the ceremony. Vivek Venkataswamy took oath in English, while the remaining two were sworn in Telugu. This is the first expansion of the Cabinet, which was formed on December 7, 2023, with the swearing-in of the Chief Minister and 11 ministers. The long-delayed expansion took place after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) cleared the names of the three ministers. Although there are still three more vacant berths in the Cabinet, the party leadership has decided not to fill them for now. The state can have a maximum of 18 ministers, including the Chief Minister. With this expansion, the Telangana cabinet now comprises 15 members. The current cabinet composition reflects a somewhat lopsided mix of social groups, including four members from the Reddy community, four SCs, three BCs, and one each from Velama, Brahmin, Kamma and SC communities. Meanwhile, reports suggest that another cabinet expansion may be undertaken soon, with several sulking aspirants and new ones vying for a chance to join the ranks of ministers.
