Grim details as man missing for 10 days
Police are urging for public help after a young man has vanished without a trace, with his car abandoned and no sign of contact in northwest Victoria.
Joshua Bishop, 23, was last seen in Lalor Crescent at 9.30pm on 27 May by a housemate, and was subsequently reported missing by his mother on 29 May.
His phone and bank accounts remain inactive, and he has not made contact with his family or friends in the past 10 days.
Mr Bishop's mobile phone was tracked by detectives to a park in the Broadmeadows are on 27 May.
However, after a significant search by police with the aid of a dog squad and drones, on Wednesday, they were unable to locate Joshua. Joshua Bishop, 23, has been missing for 10 days, as police ramp up investigations in an increasingly suspicious disappearance. His car — a white Toyota Corolla — had been located by investigators in Ridley Street, Albion on Wednesday.
Mr Bishop's associates have told police that they believe his car was stolen from him, however, no formal theft report was filed.
His loved ones are concerned for his welfare and say his disappearance is completely out of character.
Police have not been able to rule out any suspicions based on the circumstances around his disappearance.
Although Mr Bishop has not been reported missing before and is not known to the police, they are currently investigating if he has been involved in criminal activity.
Acting Detective Sergeant Matthew Wilson-Hawe said the police have conducted extensive inquiries and searches to find Joshua in the past 10 days.
'We were able to track his phone to a park in Broadmeadows, however despite an extensive search of the area we were unable to locate any trace of Joshua,' he said
'At this stage we simply don't know what has happened to him and have increasing concerns for his welfare.'
Sergeant Wilson-Hawe said Mr Bishop's disappearance on all accounts is incredibly out of character.
'The more time passes without us hearing Joshua or getting any information about his whereabouts, the more we believe his disappearance is likely to be suspicious,' he said.
Mr Bishop has been described as Caucasian in appearance, with an average build, short hair and blue eyes
The 23-year-old was last seen wearing a black singlet and track pants.
Police are urging for anyone who has seen Mr Bishop since 27 May or who has information about his whereabouts to come forward.
They are also appealing for Mr Bishop to make contact with authorities himself, should he become aware of the public appeal.

Caroline Springs shopping centre thrown into lockdown after alleged machete argument
A shopping centre in Melbourne's west has been locked down after the second incident involving machetes in a fortnight. Victoria Police said a group of between five and six males armed with machetes were arguing inside the CS Square shopping centre in Caroline Springs about 6:40pm on Friday. The centre went into lockdown as police arrived and officers found the group had already fled the scene. No injuries have been reported and police say the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging any witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online. The lockdown came after a dramatic pre-organised gang brawl involving machetes inside the Northland Shopping Centre in Preston forced its evacuation in May. Seven people have since been arrested and charged over the Preston incident. Following the incident, the Victorian government enacted a total sales ban on machetes on May 28. However, the possession of a machete will not become prohibited until a legislated ban comes into effect on September 1. The penalty for Victorians in possession of a machete will be a fine of more than $47,000 or two years in jail.

Family ‘beyond worried' as Brisbane couple vanishes after missing flight and failing to return rental car during Tasmania trip
A Queensland couple has vanished while travelling interstate, leaving their family 'beyond worried'. Leannedra Kang, 25, and her partner, Takahiro Toya, 26, failed to board their return flight from Launceston, Tasmania to Brisbane on Wednesday. The pair is believed to have travelled to the St Helens or Scamander area in a rental car. Police said the white Toyota Corolla with registration L67GW has not been returned. Kang's sister, Cassandra, told the last time anyone spoke with her was about 8.50pm on Tuesday, which was also the last day she was seen active online. 'It would be unusual for her to go no contact, she's usually very active on social media,' Cassandra said. Another sister, Alex Andra, posted on Facebook that Kang's last known location may have been North Hobart or Goshen, an area off the route of her planned itinerary. 'Please let me know if anyone has been in contact with her or seen her,' she wrote. 'My family is beyond worried.' Tasmanian Police are urging anyone who may have seen the couple or the vehicle, or knows of their whereabouts, to come forward.
