Driver high on meth crashes into oncoming car

KLUANG: A 40-year-old chauffeur with a record of drug offences was arrested after crashing into an oncoming vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine in Jalan Jaya here on Friday evening.
The man is believed to have veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Proton Saga driven by a 36-year-old trader.
Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the crash happened at 5pm as the suspect, driving a Honda City, was heading to Bandar Kluang from Taman Sri Kluang.
"Upon reaching the scene, he swerved into the opposing lane and crashed into the Saga. Both cars suffered major front-end damage," he said in a statement today.
The trader, from Taman Sri Kluang, sustained cuts to his hand and body aches, while the suspect escaped unhurt.
The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine in a urine test.
Background checks showed he had three previous drug-related cases and a criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 44(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of drugs, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use.
