Watch: Creatures escape in spaceship crash in 'Alien: Earth'
June 5 (UPI) -- FX and Hulu released the first full-length trailer for the eagerly awaited Alien: Earth series on Thursday.
The sci-fi show is set to premiere on Aug. 12.
Noah Hawley is its creator, executive producer and director.
The Alien prequel will star Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
"In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans," a synopsis released in May said.
Thursday's 2-minute preview showed the residents of the futuristic Neverland Research Island facility on Earth trying to find and neutralize the predatory alien monsters who escaped in a space ship crash.
Many of the characters share names with those that appear in the classic fairy tale Peter Pan, such as Wendy, Nibs, Tootles, Slightly and Smee.

The Weeknd releases 'Baptized in Fear' music video
June 6 (UPI) -- Abel Tesfaye, known as The Weeknd, released a music video for his song "Baptized in Fear" Friday. The visuals show images of an apparent church, dark except for the pews. The Weeknd is the only person in the space. Statues dissolve as Tesfaye sings. "Voices will tell me that I should carry on," he sings. The song appears on his album Hurry Up Tomorrow, which dropped Jan. 31 and inspired a film of the same name starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The movie premiered in theaters in May. Within hours, the video had accumulated thousands of comments. "Some artists drop music. The Weeknd drops atmospheres," one fan said.

Evanescence, K.Flay release 'Fight Like a Girl' from 'Ballerina'

The song plays over the end titles in the film Ballerina, in theaters now. Ballerina is a spinoff from John Wick. Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) trains at the same Ruska Roma ballet school that trained John Wick (Keanu Reeves) to be an assassin. They cross paths in a scene set during John Wick: Chapter 3 -- Parabellum. Eve's trainer, Nogi (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) tells Eve to fight like a girl, meaning figure out what advantage she has over male aggressors. De Armas discussed her training with UPI, including how the film's behind-the-scenes trainers incorporated her unique skills into the action. UPI praised Ballerina's outrageous action scenes in its review, including a battle between Eve and villains wielding flame throwers. The video for "Fight Like a Girl" shows Eve boxing, using her skills against bad guys, and encountering Wick again in the film's climax. Evanescence singer Amy Lee also recorded the song "Hand That Feeds" with Halsey for the film. PREDATOR: BADLANDS Director Talks About The Hunter Becoming The Hunted in His New Film — GeekTyrant
Hot off the heels of Predator: Killer of Killers , the brutal animated anthology now streaming on Hulu and Disney+, director Dan Trachtenberg is talking about his next live action film in the franchise, Predator: Badlands , which is going to shake up the franchise in a fun way. Instead of following a new group of humans being stalked, this story centers on a Yautja named Dek, an outcast from his own kind who ends up being the one running for his life. Talk talking about this aspect of the story, Trachtenberg told GamesRadar+: 'I've always been interested in characters trying to prove themselves. The real special of Badlands is that it is not just another Predator movie, and we're not just doing the thing where you cut to the Predator and it kills people one by one. 'Every chapter [in the series] brings its own special engine to the franchise, and the fun of Badlands is really the inversion of it all—that this time, the Predator is the one being hunted, and he is the one needing to prove himself. Badlands is thematically linked to the entire franchise in that way.' The Predator franchise has always thrived on a core idea… survival of the fittest, but Badlands asks what happens when the apex predator is no longer at the top of the food chain, and what he's willing to do to climb back. Dek (played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) teams up with a synthetic android named Thia (Elle Fanning), who appears to be a creation of the Weyland-Yutani Corporatio from the Alien universe. Together, the unlikely pair sets out on a journey to find what's described as 'the ultimate adversary,' all while other Predators are tracking Dek down like prey. The hunter has become the hunted. The script was written by Patrick Aison, with Trachtenberg also on board as producer alongside John Davis, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O'Connor. If you've been following Trachtenberg's journey through this universe, this marks his third time playing in the Predator sandbox. His first, Prey , was a prequel set in 1719 that became Hulu's biggest hit on launch. Then came Killer of Killers , which takes the franchise into adult animation territory, featuring three different warriors facing off with the galaxy's deadliest hunter in three differnet periods of time. But Badlands is a redefining take on the franchise. Instead of repeating the familiar beats, Trachtenberg seems intent on cracking the formula open and seeing what else the franchise can be. The decision to center the story on a Predator character, and an outcast at that, is a very cool, interesting, and unique move for the franchise. Predator: Badlands hits theaters on November 7, 2025.
