Keep flies out of house this summer by spraying 1 natural kitchen ingredient

As summer is fast approaching, many Scots will be hoping last month's glorious weather will return. The past 31 days saw this year's first mini-heatwave and even made history by becoming the sunniest spring on record. However, despite last month's blissful weather, June has been much wetter so far.
The problem with the sunshine is that it tends to attract insects - including pesky flies - into our home. This is down to the fact windows and doors are left open for longer periods. And there's nothing worse than trying to get some fresh air only to be met with constant buzzing in your house.
But experts believe there is a simple hack to keep the annoying insects out.
Commercial fly sprays can be effective in treating the problem but they contain toxic chemicals which can pollute your home and be poisonous to breathe in so. Experts recommend using a more natural alternative and the likelihood is you probably already have it in your home, according to the Express.
Andre Kazimierski, a cleaning expert from Sophia's Cleaning, has shared you can easily keep flies away without spraying chemicals if you have cayenne pepper in your kitchen cupboard. He said: 'Mix cayenne pepper with a cup of water to make a simple spray that repels common fruit flies. To be exact, mix one tablespoon of cayenne pepper in two cups of hot water.'
It may sound bizarre, but flies rely heavily on their sense of smell to find food to feast on and also navigate an area.
However, cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, which has an incredibly strong smell and is also spicy so will really irritate flies senses.
Not only do flies find cayenne pepper uncomfortable, but it makes them less interested in lingering about as it will mask the smell of food that attracts them to homes.
How to keep flies out of your home this summer
All you need to do is boil 475ml of water in a kettle, then the water into a bowl. Add one or two tablespoons of cayenne pepper to the bowl and give it a good stir.
Wait for the water to completely cool down, then place in a empty spray bottle.
You can usually buy spray bottles in the cleaning section of most supermarkets but pounds shops, garden centres and hardware stores will also sell them.

Spray the solution around windows, doorways, kitchen and anywhere else flies are known buzz about.
Flies will naturally stay far away from the spicy scent so your home is more likely to stay insect free throughout the summer.
It should be noted that the spices in cayenne pepper can travel in the air after spraying and get into pets eyes so generally should not be used if you have a cat or dog.
However, do not worry as you can swap cayenne pepper for apple cider vinegar or even use cucumbers as a pet friendly alternative to keep pesky flies out of your home for good.
Pest expert Jordan Foster from Fantastic Pest Control also shared another hack that involves cotton balls and a scent that the insects dislike.
Jordan said: "The strong scent of essential oils such as peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender, and citronella repels flies. Using these oils in diffusers, sprays, or soaking cotton balls and placing them in areas where flies are a nuisance will help eliminate them.
"Using vinegar as a repellent for flies can be effective. Spraying a mixture of water and white vinegar around the house or using it to clean surfaces will discourage flies from lingering.
"Some herbs and spices, including basil, mint, rosemary, and cloves, repel flies with their strong aromas."

'Explosion' mystery deepens as US Air Force issues 'sonic boom' update
The mystery behind what caused a huge "explosion" which rattled windows and shook the ground has deepened. A ground-rattling "boom" was heard in the sky above Gwynedd and Anglesey on Tuesday afternoon. People ducked for cover thinking there had been a "gas explosion" or "plane crash" after the blast was heard. It sparked widespread debate as to what caused the sound. After the British Geological Survey confirmed no earthquakes had taken place, and the fire service said they were not called to any explosions, the leading theory online was that the incident had been caused by a "sonic boom". While the RAF said they had no flights in the area at the time, the theory was strengthened when the US Air Force said they were looking into the reports. However, the mystery has now deepened after the US Air Force issued a fresh statement. A spokesperson told North Wales Live: "The 48th Fighter Wing had two F-15E aircraft in the area of North Wales at the time in question, but neither aircraft had a supersonic event." Gwynedd county councillor Arwyn Roberts was in Caernarfon at the time and described it as "one hell of a bang". He said: "You could feel the ground shaking. It has got everyone talking. People are talking about it everywhere."
