Meta introduces Oakley AI smart glasses that start at $399
Meta is expanding its line of AI-powered eyewear through a new partnership with sportswear brand Oakley.
The new smart glasses introduced Friday, called Oakley Meta HSTN, were built for performance wear and are intended for "athletes and fans alike" according to a Meta statement. The full lineup will arrive this summer, Meta says, with glasses starting at $399.
"Built for life on the field, trail, or track, with everyday use cases, Oakley Meta is here to evolve sport and enhance performance," Meta states on its website.
The high-tech frames are part of Meta's partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear brand Meta worked with to launch its first round of AI sunglasses with Ray-Ban in 2021.
While the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses feature Oakley's typical style, the frames also include Meta's technology, with small cameras that can record videos hands-free and Bluetooth speakers so wearers can listen to music and podcasts while they are on the go.
The smart glasses also allow users to send and receive text messages and make calls.
Each pair is equipped with a personal AI assistant that answers questions after being prompted by the phrase, "Hey Meta." In a teaser video, former NBA player J.R. Smith is shown playing golf with the glasses on when he asks, "Hey Meta, how strong is the wind today?"
"The wind is blowing 12 mph from the northwest," Meta AI responds.
As the glasses are intended for athletes, Meta is leaning on popular sports figures to get the word out. The advertising campaign will be led by World Cup winner Kylian Mbappé and three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, Meta said in its statement.

The Ottawa-based software firm focuses on artificial intelligence (AI)-powered supply chain solutions for businesses. The company delivered a solid first-quarter financial performance, with its total sales rising 11% YoY (year over year) to US$132.8 million and adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) jumping 46% to US$33.1 million. Moreover, Kinaxis is doubling down on AI features through its Maestro platform and recently partnered with Databricks to bring even more intelligence and speed to enterprise decision-making. That's on top of its new tariff response solution, which aims to help global companies navigate one of the most complex issues in supply chain planning today. KXS stock has climbed nearly 34% over the last year to currently trade at $201.30 per share with a market cap of $5.7 billion. In my opinion, its consistent growth and expanding margins could be rewarding for patient investors willing to hold it over the next decade. (TSXV:TOI) is another tech stock worth considering if you're building a long-term portfolio. The tech firm mainly develops and manages specialized software for niche markets across Europe, supporting sectors like finance, education, and healthcare. In the first quarter this year, its total revenue rose 16% YoY to €355.6 million with the help of 4% organic growth. Similarly, its net quarterly profit climbed to €38.8 million. While the bulk of this growth came from new acquisitions, the tech company's consistent organic performance also signals a stable underlying business. To boost its financial growth prospects, Topicus is actively deploying capital. For example, it recently invested €168 million in Asseco Poland, which could open up new growth opportunities for Topicus. After rallying 48% over the last year, TOI stock is currently trading at $165.03 per share with a market cap of $13.7 billion. With consistent cash flow and a strong acquisition model, Topicus stock could keep compounding value over time, especially for investors focused on the long game. Rivals250 safety Joey O'Brien commits to Notre Dame
Notre Dame continues to build a strong 2026 recruiting class, as priority four-star safety target Joey O'Brien committed to the Fighting Irish on Friday. O'Brien picked Notre Dame over fellow finalists Clemson, Penn State and Oregon. He took official visits to each school, and previously had an official visit to Tennessee that he ended up canceling. Advertisement The Fighting Irish hosted O'Brien for his official visit in South Bend this past weekend, June 13 through June 15. At Notre Dame, O'Brien will suit up for head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive coordinator Chris Ash, defensive backs coach/defensive pass game coordinator Mike Mickens and the rest of the Notre Dame staff. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound O'Brien has had a strong offseason, impressing at multiple events, including being one of the top performers at the OT7 7-on-7 event in Dallas this past spring. On the first day of Week 4 action for the OT7 event, O'Brien showed off his length, range and ballhawking ability by snagging five interceptions and returning four of those picks for touchdowns. O'Brien ranks as the No. 136 prospect overall in the Rivals250. He also ranks as the No. 3 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and the No. 7 safety in the 2026 cycle. Advertisement The La Salle College High School (Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania) athlete will head to Notre Dame with his current high school teammate, four-star offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh, who committed to the Fighting Irish on Wednesday. In addition to the schools already mentioned, O'Brien received scholarship offers from Alabama, Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio State, Stanford, Syracuse, UCLA, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and others. As a junior in 2024, O'Brien compiled 36 tackles, 13 pass break-ups and an interception, as he helped lead La Salle to a 10-1 overall record. O'Brien also stars as a wide receiver for the Explorers, as he recorded 68 receptions and set a single-season school-record with 1,029 yards, while scoring 12 touchdowns. He earned PCL Red Division MVP honors, along with first-team All-State honors and second-team All-American honors. O'Brien also plays basketball for La Salle.
