First we had the track-only Ferrari 499P Modificata, then the road-going Glickenhaus 007s, and just last week the (sort of) road-going Porsche 963. And now this : the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM. No prizes for guessing what the initials stand for. Launched to celebrate Aston's tilt at Le Mans glory this weekend – its first since the DBR1 conquered La Sarthe in 1959 – the Hypercar-derivative bandwagon has come full circle, because the LM is a track-only plaything. Only 10 will be built. Advertisement - Page continues below Like the AMR Pro, the LM goes without the, er, standard Valkryie's hybrid system and makes do with that piffling 6.5-litre Cosworth V12. Except the aim is to make it 'fully accessible to amateur drivers', so Aston's stuck with the regulation 697bhp and not the full 1,001bhp we know that engine's capable of. Yep, it's a My First Valkyrie… In fact, the goal is to change as little as possible from the homologated Hypercar without giving you a back door into the Le Mans 24hr itself. So ballast and FIA-mandated electronics have been thrown out, and a 'user-friendly' open-loop torque control system replaces the competition-style closed-loop sensors. You might like Meanwhile the V12 has been recalibrated for fuel you can actually get hold of, and… erm, that's about it. Like the racecar you still get a seven-speed sequential transmission with semi-automatic paddleshift, and the suspension remains insanely complex: double wishbones front and back, plus pushrod actuated torsion bars with adjustable side and central dampers. Aston says the setup has been optimised for track day driving, and it's fitted bespoke performance boots from F1 shoemaker Pirelli. Advertisement - Page continues below Ah, the cockpit's been tweaked actually; for better safety, access and visibility, says Aston, and all customers get their own custom carbonfibre race seat featuring an FIA-grade six-point harness. Just as well you won't be dealing with toll booths in this. The steering wheel integrates shift lights and a driver's display. Doubt it'll run Apple CarPlay, that. Those 10 lucky owners have the option of taking full possession of the LM themselves, or you can let Aston look after the car and enrol in a tailored development programme complete with driver coaching, simulator sessions and classroom prep to get the most out of your (likely very expensive) machine. Aston will even supply you with a helmet, HANS device, overalls, gloves and racing boots, moulded earpieces (because V12) and… fireproof undies. Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. Tesla registrations in the EU have declined by 46.1 percent through April 2025, with a 52.6 percent year-over-year decrease in April alone. In the same period in 2024, Tesla registrations (sales) were 77,314 units. If this downward trend continues, Tesla will be one of the five worst-selling brands in the EU by mid-2025. In April alone, Tesla only sold 5,475 vehicles in the EU. Though the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association didn't break out its data by month, it's easy to conclude Tesla sales have been in decline since the beginning of the year. If April were a 'normal' month, Tesla would have sold about 22,000 vehicles in the EU. Expanding the scope doesn't help much. In the EU, the UK, and across the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which includes Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, Tesla sold 61,320 vehicles compared to 100,255 in the same timeframe in 2024, representing a 38.8 percent decline. EV sales in the EU are up Battery-electric vehicle sales in the EU from January through April 2025 are up 26.4 percent, which is the same percentage decline for ICE vehicles, suggesting that Europe is embracing the concept of replacing combustion engine vehicles with EVs. France and Estonia were the only countries to experience a decline in EV registrations year over year. EVs account for only 15.3 percent of the market in the EU, trailing behind petrol vehicles (28.6 percent) and hybrids (35.3 percent). Though total car sales dipped 1.2 percent year to date, EV sales were up 3.3 percent. Diesel and petrol sales have dropped over ten percent year over year. Less than ten percent of overall Tesla sales occurred in one out of four months in 2025, which is an indicator that Tesla is a brand non grata in Europe and sales are declining sharply every month. Upstart Chinese automaker BYD, a brand some consider Tesla's main existential threat, outsold Tesla in the EU in April by about 60 cars, according to data from analyst firm JATO. BYD doesn't have a vehicle in the top 10, according to JATO, but both of Tesla's main vehicles – the Model Y and Model 3 – saw sales decline 49 percent and 41 percent, respectively. Always wanted to own an *actual* Le Mans hypercar? Get your order in for the new Aston Martin Valkyrie LM...
Aston Martin has launched the Valkyrie LM as a screaming V12-engined, Le Mans-spec track toy that could be the world's ultimate automotive plaything. Unlike the Valkyrie AMR Pro, a track-only version of the Valkyrie road car, the Valkyrie LM is based on Aston's LMH hypercar that will race at La Sarthe this weekend. That means it draws 697bhp from the same 6.5-litre Cosworth V12 and drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed semi-automatic sequential gearbox. But Aston Martin has made a number of modifications to tailor the Valkyrie LM to track day use, starting with making the V12 compatible with readily available fuel. It has also removed the ballast and FIA-regulation electronic systems, along with the racer's torque sensors. Otherwise, though, this is a top-class Le Mans car that can be run around a track of its owner's choosing. It still has a carbonfibre race seat with six-point harness, a fire suppression system and bespoke track tyres from Pirelli. Adam Carter, Aston Martin's head of endurance motorsport, said: 'It is important to emphasise that the Valkyrie LM is close to identical to the race car that is currently competing in WEC and IMSA, with only a few minor deviations to ensure it is a non-homologated variant and is accessible for customers to experience and enjoy. "Valkyrie LM represents the most authentic hypercar track experience that is now available.' Similarly to Ferrari's original XX track car programme, Aston Martin will store and transport the cars as part of a support programme for owners that aims to offer the "ultimate top-flight motorsport experience". Included as part of that, the company will also supply a team of engineers to set up the car and maintain it during the track days. It will also provide professional driver coaches and simulator sessions to ensure customers can "explore the limits of a machine designed to operate in excess of 200mph on the fast, flat-out kinks of the most famous race track in the world". Owners will be able to drive their cars for the first time at an "exclusive handover event" in the second quarter of 2026, before being invited to track days at Formula 1-standard circuits later in the year.
