Unbeaten Midak to be added to the Derby mix
Midak is set to be supplemented for the Betfred Derby, where he will carry the colours of the Aga Khan Studs in a race which is this year named in honour of His Highness Aga Khan IV.
The late Aga Khan was no stranger to success at Epsom, with one of the most famous Derby winners of all, Shergar, amongst his host of Classic scorers at the Downs track.
His daughter Princess Zahra has now confirmed that Francis Henri-Graffard's unbeaten Midak will tackle the British showpiece as his next assignment after enhancing his reputation at Saint-Cloud in the Prix Greffulhe.
She told Racing TV: 'He's unbeaten in three starts, we know he gets the trip, he's got the right kind of character to be able to handle Tattenham Corner and all the noise that comes with the Epsom Derby.

'It's nice to have a runner this year because the race is being run in honour of my father and he's done everything he should to be a valid runner in the Epsom Derby.'
She added: 'When Midak won his last race, I asked Francis 'this is a Jockey Club horse isn't it' and he said 'we can't as you have another runner for that race and there is also another horse in our stable'.
'I then asked 'what are you thinking of doing' and he just looked at me and replied, 'Epsom'. We all thought it would be lovely to have a runner in the race and he has ticked all the boxes and there is no reason not to run him.'
Midak's trainer has been a regular visitor to the UK in recent seasons and landed the King Edward VII Stakes with Calandagan and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes with Goliath last year.
Calandagan will again visit British shores as part of the Frenchman's Epsom team, but it is the lure of Derby glory that is causing most excitement.
Graffard said: 'The Derby at Epsom is a dream race for me, I have walked the course and my grandfather would always talk to me about the Epsom Derby.
'We have this horse Midak who needed supplementing for either the Prix du Jockey Club or Derby, so I said to Princess Zahra 'you already have two runners in the Jockey Club, so why not give it a go in the Derby'.
'British racing has very kindly named the Derby in honour of His Highness the Aga Khan this year, so we will take our chance.'

Buick confident his Classic aces can strike again at Epsom
Having completed the 2000 and 1000 Guineas double over the Rowley Mile in early May, Buick is in an enviable position as the same two horses prepare to line up at Epsom later this week. He said: 'Every year you go into Oaks and Derby week, it is always exciting but of course I must admit this year there is a little bit more excitement as both of our Guineas winners are going to turn up. Naturally it is exciting week for all of us.' Should the Charlie Appleby-trained duo both emerge triumphant on the Surrey Downs, Buick will become the first jockey ever to win the first four Classics in the same season, but he is not getting carried away. 'We'd like to just take one step at a time, that's a big ask, it's a huge thing to do. Winning both Guineas was a big achievement in itself and we'll just take each race as it comes,' he added. 'Both horses are really well. I haven't sat on Ruling Court but I've sat on Desert Flower once. Everything they've been doing has been really routine. Immediately after Newmarket they recovered well and everyone has been very happy with them, it's been quite smooth.' Ruling Court narrowly denied the subsequent Irish Guineas hero Field Of Gold at Newmarket and he will be stepping into the unknown over Epsom's mile and a half, but Buick is hopeful the Justify colt's stamina will stand up to the test. There are so many horses that go to Epsom with those sort of credentials. Very few three-year-olds have gone the full mile and a half before the Derby, most are trying it for the first time bar a select few who run in the Lingfield Trial or the Chester Vase, so you never quite know until the day. 'They do say if you get a mile and a quarter you've a chance of getting a mile and a half round Epsom and most good horses are well balanced, do everything you ask and have a good turn of foot, which he has. I was asking him for an effort going into the dip at Newmarket and he responded – he never needed any real help. 'He's well-balanced, travels well through his races and has a good turn of foot so in that regard he ticks all the boxes. He's a high-quality colt.' Buick is similarly unconcerned about the razzmatazz of Derby day getting the better of Ruling Court, adding: 'Nothing has ever given us the impression he won't handle it, but it really is a different day. 'There's a lot of people, the fanfare, there's a lot of noise, it's a long canter down so that in itself is a challenge. We don't expect it to be a problem but you respect the occasion and try to take every precaution you can to get him to the start in a good frame of mind. 'We all still get the buzz before the Derby, it is our most important race and everyone would be of the same opinion – it's our Holy Grail.' Just under 24 hours before Ruling Court's bid for Derby glory, Desert Flower is set to line up as a hot favourite for the Betfred Oaks. Unbeaten in five career starts, the Night Of Thunder filly also has her stamina to prove, but Buick said: 'I don't want to sound like a broken record but they are similar horses in regard to distance, neither have gone beyond a mile, I'm very confident about 10 furlongs and we'll see about a mile and a half. 'Desert Flower is a high-class filly and we've always thought the world of her. She has never stepped a foot wrong. 'She's well-balanced, she travels well through her races, she relaxes, she's tactically incredibly versatile and I don't think Epsom will pose any problem to her. 'She's always been strong towards the end of her races, as you could see in the Guineas where she had to make her own running and she was strong when she hit the rising ground. I'm hopeful of her getting the trip. 'I've ridden in the Oaks a few times and never quite managed to pull it off. It would mean a lot to win it, the Classics are what it is all about, each season you set out to find a Classic horse for the Guineas, Epsom and the St Leger, they are our most important races.' While Buick is not taking for granted, it is clear confidence is high. He added: 'I feel like I'm on the two best horses. There is of course the question about the distance as neither has been beyond a mile before, but I do feel like I'm on the two best horses. 'Horses will either stay or they won't, it's as simple as that. You have to ride them accordingly but equally you can't make a horse stay. Where you find out is inside the last couple of furlongs and you won't get an indication before that. 'To be going to Epsom with two horses of the calibre of these two is a pleasure, so fingers crossed everything goes well.'

Man Utd 'confident' of landing Bryan Mbeumo in £50m deal as transfer plan clear
Manchester United are set for a busy summer in the transfer market and already a pattern is becoming clear at Old Trafford ahead of Ruben Amorim's first pre-season at the club Manchester United have moved on from Liam Delap and will now look to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo in a £50million deal this summer. The Red Devils are growing increasingly confident of being able to lure the forward to Old Trafford after the striker indicated he wanted to move to the club. United will be required to fight off interest from the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal to secure the Cameroon international. Ruben Amorim is said to be keen to make Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals in the Premier League in 2024/25, an integral member of his team. The Red Devils have returned their attention to Mbeumo after missing out to Chelsea for Ipswich Town Forward Delap. The 22-year-old former Man City youngster is primed to be announced as the Blues' newest signing after undergoing his medical, with Chelsea having agreed to pay his £30m release clause. United will hope to continue to strengthen Amorim's hand after announcing their first deal of the summer of the weekend. The 13-times Premier League champions confirmed a deal for Matheus Cunha after agreeing a £62.5million deal with Wolves. The Brazil forward was present in Manchester over the weekend before departing for international duty. The club want to replenish their front line after failing to see a member of their squad reach double figures in the Premier League's goalscoring charts. But United's attention turning to Mbeumo also appears to suggest an emphasis on targeting Premier League talent. That would appear to see the club taking a different approach to recent seasons. Last summer saw some heavy spending as the likes of Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee were brought in from abroad and the season before that saw only Mason Mount arrive from England's top-flight. And in 2022/23, the signings of Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro stole the headlines, though United did take advantage of Christian Eriksen being available for free It perhaps comes as little surprise that the club would look from within the division after struggling to 15th in 2024/25. And United's issues were all the more evident domestically, as they earned their way to the final before coming unstuck against British opposition in Tottenham. United boss Amorim has previously highlighted why he believes issues have been found when playing more familiar opposition. "When you play against any team in England, the physicality is there," he said. "If you don't have physicality, you will struggle a lot. Antony is so much better now in Spain. There are many factors, but I guarantee you it's physicality." And bringing players in who already have Premier League experience, and have thrived in the environment, such as Cunha and Mbeumo, would not only improve the team but potentially require less time to adjust. After a dismal start for Amorim, he will hope such players at least offer part of the answer.

In a marathon final game Draper saved a match point and had five break points, but was unable to take any of them. In the build-up to the match Bublik had compared Draper to a UFC fighter, but after two hours and 34 minutes it was the 6ft 5in underdog who landed the knockout blow. Bublik said afterwards: 'You know sometimes in life there is only one chance. I had a feeling that I was mine and I couldn't let it slip.
