
Iraq Muay Thai team wins 4 medals at World Championship in Turkey
Antalya (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi national Muay Thai team proudly secured four medals (one silver and three bronze) at the prestigious Senior World Muay Thai Championship, which concluded in Antalya, Turkey, on Saturday (May 31, 2025). The ten-day event saw participation from over 75 countries.
The silver medal was won in the Muay Thai Doubles event by the distinguished duo Ali Hashim Sabah and Ali Mohammed Lutfi, following a strong and competitive performance. Iraq's three bronze medals came via Dhia Al-Din Ta'ma and Nawar Haider Abbas in Mai Muay Doubles, Ahmed Haitham Abbas in the Wai Kru discipline, and Salah Safaa Hassan in a combat category.
Mustafa Jabbar Alak, President of the Iraqi Muay Thai Federation, stated that the players showcased 'high technical levels, reflecting the development of the sport in Iraq and its honorable international reputation.' He also praised the crucial support from the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, headed by Aqeel Muftan, which contributed to the athletes' success on the world stage.
