Feds probe disputed tip Pfizer held Covid vaccine results until after 2020 vote: WSJ
Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are probing a claim by British drugmaker GSK that Pfizer delayed announcing its COVID shot's success in 2020 until after that year's election, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The report said on Wednesday that GSK's former head of vaccine development, Philip Dormitzer, who joined the company after working at rival Pfizer, had told his GSK colleagues about the delay.
However, Dormitzer has disputed that account.

"My Pfizer colleagues and I did everything we could to get the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization at the very first possible moment. Any other interpretation of my comments about the pace of the vaccine's development would be incorrect," he told Reuters in a statement.
The WSJ report said the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, which includes Manhattan, is taking a closer look at what GSK has shared.

President Donald Trump has claimed in the past that Pfizer sat on positive data from the vaccine's clinical trials, but there has never been evidence to support the accusation.
The U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan has interviewed at least two people, including a GSK executive who took notes of a conversation with Dormitzer, the report said, citing one of the people familiar with the matter.
The prosecutors are planning to interview a third person in the coming days, WSJ reported, citing some of the people familiar with the probe.
The report said officials from Pfizer have not been interviewed.
GSK has declined to comment, while Pfizer and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comments.

Liverpool have agreed a British record fee of €136.3million (£116m) to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz. The two teams have reached a final agreement on the transfer fee following productive talks. Barclays Hires SocGen Veteran Mastrangelo to Run APAC Markets
Barclays Plc has hired Jean-Francois Mastrangelo, a 19-year veteran of Societe Generale SA, to lead its markets business in the Asia-Pacific region, according to people familiar with the matter. Mastrangelo, who was an executive at SocGen's equities and equity derivatives business in Hong Kong, will join the British lender in the coming months, said one of the people, who all asked not to be identified discussing personnel. He will report both to Adeel Khan, Barclays' global head of markets, and APAC CEO Jaideep Khanna, the person said.

Who were the British victims of the Air India plane crash?
All but one passenger is thought to have died on the Air India flight bound for London Gatwick airport that crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad in western India. There were 242 passengers and crew onboard the plane, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian. One passenger, the British national Vishwashkumar Ramesh, survived the crash and was treated in hospital for injuries. Here are some of those reported to have died: Akeel Nanabawa, Hannaa Vorajee and their daughter SaraBusinessman Akeel Nanabawa, his wife, Hannaa Vorajee, and their four-year-old daughter, Sara, were among the passengers who perished onboard Flight AI171, the Gloucester Muslim community confirmed.
