NP slams injustice against Balochistan
Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi, a central leader of National Party, on Friday lamented that Balochistan's long-standing democratic commitment continues to be repaid with betrayal and silence.
He accused the federal system of treating the province like a "stepchild of the state".
Speaking at the Lahore Press Club, Buledi vehemently blasted the historical and ongoing injustices faced by Balochistan, adding that people of the province have made a prolonged and sincere contribution to democratic development in Pakistan, but they remain neglected.
"This democracy we see today is the outcome of decades of political struggle," he said. "But our federal system has failed to respect the political, economic and cultural rights of the nations that reside in this region."
Buledi said a particular mindset in the country has repeatedly attempted to suppress and deny the existence of different national identities, their languages, cultures and history. "This very mindset led to the disintegration of Pakistan in 1971," he added.
He pointed out that successive civilian governments, operating under a majority-rule mindset and a bureaucratic system unwilling to accommodate diversity, have further alienated Balochistan.
"Our establishment believes a presidential system is more suitable and even wants to divide the country into 32 or 48 provinces. This is a long-standing battle," Buledi said, accusing the military of repeatedly undermining democracy during its stints in power.
"If Pakistan is to remain stable and united, the existence of its nations must be recognised, their control over natural resources respected, and the country must be run within constitutional limits," he stressed.
Buledi noted that while parliament exists and a parliamentary system is in place, neither the media nor the public enjoys true freedom of speech. "The PDM was formed to end institutional interference and ensure free and fair elections, and that remains the only way to resolve issues, including those of Balochistan."
He also criticised politicians for making compromises once in power. "The Baloch issue has become so chronic that it has reached a critical state. Baloch leadership has tried time and again to explain the province's concerns to Islamabad, but we're seen only as 16 seats in the assembly."
"Two days ago, a political market was held in Islamabad where Balochistan was sold," he said about recent political developments.

Seven Indian-sponsored terrorists killed in Balochistan operations
At least seven terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan, were killed by security forces in two separate operations in Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday. 'An intelligence based operation (IBO) was conducted in general area Mach, Kachhi District on reported presence of Fitna al Hindustan terrorists,' the ISPR said in a press release. After an intense fire exchange, five Indian sponsored terrorists were sent killed, said the statement. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities. 'Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace Indian sponsored terrorism from the country, and reaffirm the nation's unwavering resolve to bring the perpetrators of Indian sponsored terrorism and their facilitators to justice,' the ISPR concluded. Earlier, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said that Indian sponsored proxy war is no longer hidden, and is an open malicious act of terrorism waged 'on our people, our progress, and our peace£. During his interaction with the tribal elders, the army chief said that Pakistan has concrete proof of India's hand behind terrorist networks operating in Balochistan. 'These nefarious attempts of the enemy will fail,' he said. The COAS affirmed that the Pakistan Army, with the unwavering support of the nation and the brave Baloch people, will confront and crush every enemy, foreign or domestic, 'that dares to challenge our sovereignty'.

No power can detach Balochistan from Pakistan: DG ISPR

'Balochistan is part of Pakistan and will always remain so,' he declared, adding, 'No one can separate it.' Addressing educators during the Hilal Talks 2025 programme organised by the military's media wing on Monday, the DG ISPR dismissed the narrative of Balochistan's separatism as baseless, asserting that the province is deeply integrated into Pakistan's economy and society. 'The propaganda that Balochistan can be separated is unfounded,' he said. 'Baloch, Sindhi, Pashtun, Punjabi, Kashmiri, and Balti – we are all brothers and united. No one can divide us,' he affirmed. The military spokesperson warned that India and its proxies pose a grave threat to regional peace, providing full financial support from New Delhi to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army, locally referred to as 'Fitna al-Hindustan'. 'There is no idea or ideology behind the terrorism in Balochistan – it is entirely India-sponsored.' He added that India alone bears responsibility for the destabilisation across the region. He also highlighted the enduring bond between the people and the armed forces, calling it a 'timeless relationship of love.'

While interacting with tribal elders during a Grand Jirga at the Zehri Auditorium in Quetta, the chief of the army staff lauded the bravery and resilience of security forces and the law-enforcement personnel operating in Balochistan, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Munir jointly addressed the Jirga, which was organised to interact with the tribal leadership and discuss the evolving security situation in Balochistan, with particular focus on the ongoing proxy war fuelled by India. "This Indian sponsored proxy war is no longer hidden, it is an open malicious act of terrorism waged on our people, our progress, and our peace. We have concrete proof of India's hand behind terrorist networks operating in Balochistan," Field Marshal Munir said. "These nefarious attempts of the enemy will fail. The Pakistan Army, with the unwavering support of the nation and the brave Baloch people, will confront and crush every enemy, foreign or domestic, that dares to challenge our sovereignty." On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted that Indian-sponsored proxies operating in Balochistan had intensified their efforts to undermine peace, destabilise the province, and disrupt development initiatives led by the government and the armed forces. He said that terrorist groups like the Fitna al-Hindustan sought support of the locals which must be denied to them. He stressed the need for engaging at the grassroots level and ensuring that terrorists found no social space. Praising the leadership and constructive role of the elders, Shehbaz reiterated that denying social space to terrorists was crucial for the success of counter-terrorism efforts and for the long-term peace and stability. He vowed that the enemies of peace would find no space to operate within Pakistan. "Our message to them is clear: the government, armed forces, the LEAs and the administrative apparatus," with the complete support of the people, would take the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion and defeat terrorism in a decisive manner. Highlighting a series of monumental developmental packages for prosperity in Balochistan, the prime minister emphasised the need to ensure that people at the grassroots level benefited from the government's initiatives. He praised the people of Balochistan for their historic role in safeguarding the national unity and urged them to remain vigilant against foreign-backed subversion and sabotage orchestrated and sponsored by India. Prime Minister Shehbaz and Field Marshal Munir lauded the bravery and resilience of security forces and the LEAs operating in Balochistan. Shehbaz assured the families of Shuhada of full cooperation and support, and vowed that terrorists, their abettors, and facilitators would not be spared. The Jirga concluded with a unanimous pledge from tribal elders to stand shoulder to shoulder with the government of Pakistan and the armed forces, reaffirming their commitment to the security, stability, and development of Balochistan, the statement said. Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz visited the Command and Staff College in Quetta and addressed Students and Faculty of the college. His address reflected the government's commitment to strengthening Pakistan's defence institutions amid the evolving regional and internal security dynamics. Shehbaz underscored the importance of professional excellence, operational readiness, and strategic foresight in the face of emerging and hybrid threats, especially in sensitive regions like Balochistan, where Indian sponsored proxies target "our people and aim to disrupt our progress and prosperity".
