Mann, Kejriwal launch Punjab portal for 45-day approval to industry

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday launched a set of 12 initiatives as part of 'Punjab Udyog Kranti' to 'revolutionise' industrial growth in state, including ensuring all required approvals to investors within 45 days of filling application, and action against officers and officials concerned in case of any delay. They also launched the 'FastTrack Punjab Portal', set up for the purpose. 'If you want to set up a new project, start a new business, expand your business or diversify business and you apply on the portal, you will get all approvals within 45 days,' said Kejriwal. The AAP national convener said all the concerned departments will inform within seven days of filling an application for a project about any shortcomings in the proposal. Thereafter, no fresh objection can be raised in connection with the proposal, he added. 'If you are not given an approval within 45 days, then automatically you will get deemed approval,' Kejriwal said. Mann said that his government had inherited a system when the industries were fed up with extortion system during previous regimes. However, Mann said, his government 'restored the faith of industrialists' by giving them a friendly atmosphere.

All development work stopped in Punjab after fund recall from 12 departments, says Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Ludhiana: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) govt of bringing development in Punjab to a halt after ordering state departments to return available funds to the treasury. The Akali leader on Tuesday described the move as unprecedented, saying it had forced a freeze on projects across twelve key departments, including agriculture, technical education, revenue, information technology, food and civil supplies, animal husbandry, water resources, taxation, public works, and the Mandi Board. Sukhbir claimed that the AAP govt had sought to borrow Rs 47,076 crore recently under the open market borrowing (OMB) limit. However, the Union govt slashed this by Rs 16,676 crore, citing Punjab's heavy borrowing over the past three years and what Badal called "poor financial management." He alleged that, unable to meet its obligations, the state govt has redirected funds meant for development and welfare schemes to service its debts. "The AAP govt has overextended itself and does not have funds to manage borrowings, so it has recalled money already released to twelve departments," Sukhbir said. "This means effectively that the govt will use funds meant for development and public schemes to pay its loans. " Sukhbir accused chief minister Bhagwant Mann's administration of bankrupting Punjab, demanding an explanation for the Rs 1 lakh crore borrowed over the last three years. "There is nothing to show for it — no new infrastructure, no major schemes, no projects. It is clear that a large portion of these funds has been embezzled and transferred to the AAP high command, with hundreds of crores spent annually on advertising," he said. The SAD president called for an independent investigation into the alleged embezzlement and financial mismanagement, and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the fund recall order. Punjab CM, Arvind Kejriwal launch 'Fast Track Punjab Portal' for ease of doing business, boost industry in state

Mohali (Punjab) [India], June 10 (ANI): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched the 'Fast Track Punjab Portal', which aims to simplify the process of starting new businesses, setting up projects, and expanding industries in the state. Speaking on the occasion, Mann alleged that earlier governments treated industrialists like ATM machines and extracted election funds from them. 'Industrialists were so harassed that they would say, 'Forget it, we won't set up industries here.' Some moved to Madhya Pradesh, others to Himachal Pradesh. But now, industrialists can identify land and apply through the Punjab Invest Portal. Within two weeks, all clearances will be granted, and the registry will be completed. You can start your industry within 24 hours,' he said. Mann emphasised that the initiative aims to boost both revenue and employment opportunities. 'We want industrialists' to grow and employment to increase. When your revenue rises, you'll set up more industries, creating more jobs. Previous governments had a share in every sector. Mandi Gobindgarh, once Asia's largest iron market, now looks like a deserted city. They always claimed the treasury was empty, but we never said that. We will fill the treasury and provide jobs,' he stated. He said industralists are 'annadatas' like farmers but some people are afraid because of previous governments. 'We have released budget for constructing 19,000 km of link roads in Punjab and are opening skill development centres to ensure you get skilled workers right here,' he added. Kejriwal said the initiative is unprecedented in India and reflects his government's distinct policy approach. 'We met traders and received their proposals. After listening and understanding their concerns, we made this decision. We want traders who left Punjab to return and work here. Our intent is clear, and that's why we are making this announcement,' Kejriwal said. He emphasised creating a business-friendly environment where industrialists can focus 90 per cent of their time on business growth rather than running around government offices. 'Simple policies, quick approvals, and an honest system--this is the identity of the new Punjab. When industries grow, Punjab will progress,' he added. Highlighting the significance of the portal, Kejriwal described it as a 'historic' move, stating, 'No government in any state has made such announcements until today. Starting a new business, setting up a project, or expanding an industry in Punjab has now become extremely easy. Just apply on the Invest Punjab Portal, and all approvals will be granted within 45 days. For projects up to Rs. 125 crore, approvals will be given in just three days. No running around, no delays, no corruption. Punjab is ready for your industry's new journey.' (ANI)
