It has appeared to be only a matter of time before Rayan Ait-Nouri was confirmed as a Manchester City player. Furthermore, the Athletic report indicated that Ait-Nouri would sign a 5-year deal with Manchester City. Rayan Ait-Nouri has completed his medical ahead of his move to Manchester City. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Rayan Ait-Nouri has successfully completed his medical with Manchester City today. Furthermore, Romano reports that the Algerian international is set to sign a 5-year contract with the club. Ait-Nouri will sign his City contract on Sunday per a separate report from Fabrizio Romano. Pep Guardiola will have a proper left-back to deploy for the Club World Cup and beyond. With the formalities now complete, all that awaits is official confirmation of Rayan Ait-Nouri's move to Manchester City. That is expected to come early next week. It should also come before the deadline of the short transfer window for clubs to sign players for the FIFA Club World Cup which expires on June 10. Barring anything exceptional, Ait-Nouri should be a part of Manchester City's squad for the tournament in the United States. Advertisement How Rayan Ait-Nouri fits into Pep Guardiola's squad at the Club World Cup will be a real subject of interest. Finally, Pep Guardiola will have a specialist left-back at his disposal. That does offer Guardiola more options in and out of possession. On the ball, Rayan Ait-Nouri is an exceptional player. He has the ability to pick out a pass and a cross, and is blessed with exceptional technical ability. Rayan Ait-Nouri has reportedly completed his medical ahead of his move to Manchester City. The Algerian international can also play as an overlapping full-back or he can invert into midfield. Both of those options will appeal to Pep Guardiola. It won't be a surprise to see him use Ait-Nouri in both roles at the Club World Cup. Playing in those two roles in the United States will also allow Ait-Nouri to get a head start on what life at Manchester City will look like. That is one positive of City playing in the tournament and signing Ait-Nouri in a timely manner. All that awaits is official confirmation that Rayan Ait-Nouri is now a Manchester City player. With his medical complete it should only be a matter of time before Manchester City confirm the signing of the left-back that Pep Guardiola's squad has been screaming out for.

2025 FIFA Club World Cup: Teams, Players, and Everything to Know About New-Look Tournament
While even-numbered years bring the world the FIFA World Cup, the Euros and the Summer Olympics, odd-numbered years are normally glossed over when it comes to soccer competitions. That may change this summer, not with a new international soccer tournament but with an enhanced version of an existing one—the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held every four years going forward, and whose organizer hopes will become a must-see event for global soccer fans, just as the FIFA World Cup is quadrennially. What's New About It? The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will run from June 14 to July 13 and will be hosted by 11 cities in the United States. The event has been around, albeit to minimal fanfare, since 2000, but this year it's both the first to take place during the summer, and it's the first to have 32 teams. Previous editions were usually held in December and had seven teams, as was the case of the last Club World Cup in 2023, won by Manchester City. The format will resemble what fans are accustomed to: eight groups of four, with the teams within each group facing off. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage with a Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and then a championship game. Who's Competing? This World Cup is for clubs, not countries. You will see top club teams such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Inter Miami. The simplest way a team qualified for this event was by winning their confederation's club championship—i.e. the UEFA Champions League or CONCACAF Champions League—over the last four years, or by being among the top-ranked teams within those confederations on a rolling four-year cycle.

The 22-year-old was a free agent after leaving Spanish third division side Real Murcia in February. Knight, whose solitary first-team appearance for Manchester City came in their 2021 Charity Shield defeat by Leicester, featured just four times off the bench for Real Murcia in his six months there. Advertisement The former Ipswich Town youth player, who also had a loan spell in League One with Crewe Alexandra in 2021, moved back to England late last season and spent time on trial at Cambridge before signing. "Although it's been a difficult period recently for me, I can't say enough about how well the club have looked after me and I am determined to repay them now with my performances on the pitch," Knight told the U's website.
