Patriots viewed as trade fit for Dolphins All-Pro WR Tyreek Hill
NFL.com put together a list of trades they would like to see happen in the 2025 offseason.
NFL analyst and former quarterback David Carr had a very interesting trade idea that would put one of the most dynamic receivers in football on the Patriots' roster. Carr suggested that New England trade for the Miami Dolphins' five-time First-Team All-Pro wide receiver, Tyreek Hill.
The 2024 season didn't live up to expectations for Hill, who played a significant chunk of the year without Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. That led to him failing to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2019. He finished the year with 81 catches for 959 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 11.8 yards per catch.
He's only two years removed from a career-high season that saw him tally 119 catches for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Carr wrote:
"Hill has been at the center of Dolphins headlines this offseason. It actually started when he voiced his frustrations at the end of a disappointing 2024 campaign in Miami, both for the Fins (who finished below .500 for the first time since 2019) and Hill (who missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his nine-year career). ...New England has admirably overhauled the offense this offseason, and Hill would continue that trend by giving Josh McDaniels a guy who can elevate his attack to the next level due to his speed and field-stretching ability."
Carr noted the drama off the field could be a reason for the Dolphins to part ways with Hill. The eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver backtracked after initially expressing he was "out" in Miami earlier in the year.
Hill joining the Patriots would be a major acquisition. Their main receiving corps would suddenly consist of Hill, Stefon Diggs and Demario Douglas. They'd instantly have one of the top units in the league.
It would be a dream trade for the team. Of course, it's hard to envision such a trade happening with the Dolphins being the Patriots' AFC East rivals. Would they be comfortable trading Hill to another team in the division?
Nothing is impossible, especially if the Dolphins feel like they're getting enough return on their investment in trade value. But sending Hill to an improving football team that they face twice every year would be quite the surprise.

Report: Jalen Ramsey has Rams 'on his radar as a potential option' if traded
Now that the calendar has flipped to June, the Miami Dolphins are much more likely to trade Jalen Ramsey at some point soon. A post-June 1 trade is feasible financially for the Dolphins, whereas trading him in the past few months would've cost them much more on the salary cap in 2025. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler shared an update on Ramsey's situation during an appearance on 'SportsCenter' Sunday and he reiterated that the Los Angeles Rams are a viable landing spot. Advertisement According to Fowler, Ramsey has the Rams 'on his radar as a potential option,' though there hasn't been any movement yet. 'The LA Rams, Ramsey's old team, is on his radar as a potential option. Nothing moving there as of yet. He should have a new team this fall,' Fowler said. As for the timeline of when the Dolphins could move the All-Pro cornerback, Fowler says they're expected to trade him in the coming days and weeks. 'The expectation is that Ramsey will be traded in the coming days and weeks,' Fowler said. 'They can save about $10 million on their salary cap if they do so. That is not the issue. He's got $24 million guaranteed. That is the major issue here. Teams have been a little spooked by that.' Advertisement In Sean McVay's latest update on the matter, he said the Rams and Dolphins haven't had any 'meaningful, tangible dialogue' lately, seemingly putting a deal on the backburner for L.A. 'But that can always change pretty quickly as you know,' he said, adding that the Rams 'certainly haven't closed the door' on a deal. 'There are a lot of layers with something of that magnitude when you're talking about the caliber of the player, the compensation that they're looking for in return, what does that look like in terms of how they want to handle what he's actually due?' McVay said. 'Obviously, we love Jalen. We know Jalen intimately. There would be some things that we would need to be able to do if that was going to be a direction that we went.' It seems this situation is in wait-and-see mode but a resolution could come in the next days or weeks, as Fowler mentioned. Rookie TE Terrance Ferguson compared to former Rams star
Terrance Ferguson joins a crowded tight end room but could quickly emerge as the best of the group. The second-round rookie was drafted higher than any other tight end on the Los Angeles Rams, and FOX Sports NFL Draft analyst Rob Rang compared him to another great Rams tight end not named Tyler Higbee — Ernie Conwell. "... Ferguson would go a long way in legitimizing the 46th overall selection by pushing him for playing time as a rookie," Rang wrote. "Conwell offered similarly sure hands down the seam and was a better blocker. The Rams have never had a tight end voted to the Pro Bowl, but Ferguson flashes that kind of upside." Conwell, a second-round pick himself in 1996, caught 146 passes for 1,574 yards and 10 touchdowns in seven years for the Rams. He went on to finish his career with the New Orleans Saints for four seasons. Higbee is actually the Rams' best receiving tight end in team history with 3,668 yards and 24 touchdowns, but Conwell was a more well-rounded player that Rang believes fits a franchise comparison for Ferguson. The hope for L.A. is that the rookie can be the best of both worlds as a great pass-catcher and blocker for the Rams. The team has lacked a true star at the position, and Ferguson could blaze his own path as a franchise tight end for the Rams.
