Pornhub, YouPorn, RedTube owner to suspend content in France
The firm behind Pornhub, YouPorn and RedTube is suspending access to the adult content platforms in France from Wednesday, in a move that media said was in protest against a requirement for porn sites to verify that their users are 18 or older.
"I can confirm that Aylo has made the difficult decision to suspend access to its user-uploaded platforms (P-rnhub, YouP-rn, RedTube) in France. We will be using our platforms to directly address the French public tomorrow," a spokesperson for Pornhub said on Tuesday.
Aylo owns the affected platforms, as well as several other adult entertainment brands.
Arcom, France's digital and audiovisual communication regulator, can request that porn websites are blocked and levy fines if it deems their age verification systems are insufficient.
"If Aylo would rather leave France than apply our laws, they are free to do so," Clara Chappaz, France's junior minister for artificial intelligence and digital technology, wrote in a post on social media platform X.
Arcom has said that 2.3 million minors access porn websites every month even though legally they should be blocked from them.
Adult content platforms have come under fire elsewhere in the European Union. EU regulators said last month that several sites, including Pornhub, would be investigated for failing to comply with rules to protect children.

TSX adds to weekly gain as tech and energy shares climb
TSX ends up 0.3% at 26,429.13 For the week, the index gains nearly 1% Energy adds 1.4% as oil settles 1.9% higher June 6 - Canada's main stock index rose on Friday to a new record high, led by gains for energy and technology shares, as oil prices advanced and U.S. and Canadian jobs data eased investor concerns about a possible recession. The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index ended up 86.84 points, or 0.3%, at 26,429.13, inching past its record closing high on Tuesday. For the week, the index was up nearly 1%. Canada's economy added 8,800 jobs last month, compared to an expected decline of 12,500, while U.S. job growth also beat expectations. "Jobs are slowing down but still not falling off a cliff and I don't think a recession is imminent as many people are fearing," said Allan Small, senior investment advisor of the Allan Small Financial Group with iA Private Wealth. U.S. crude oil futures settled 1.9% higher at $64.58 a barrel, helped by the U.S. jobs data but also optimism about trade talks between the U.S. and China. U.S. President Trump said three of his cabinet officials will meet with representatives of China in London on June 9 to discuss a trade deal. "The pressure is on the U.S. to make some of these deals," Small said, adding that tariffs are unlikely to return to previous sky-high levels proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The energy sector rose 1.4% and technology ended 1.9% higher. Heavily weighted financials also posted gains, rising 0.6%. Consumer staples were a drag, falling 0.9%, and the materials group, which includes metal mining shares, ended 1.7% lower as gold and copper prices fell. This country has fought maximum wars in the world; not US, Russia, UK, Germany, it is..., India has...
(Representational image/AI generated) New Delhi: If we look back at history, it is full of armed conflicts and wars as wars would decide the survival or dominance of one side over other sides. In fact, the world has witnessed massive loss of life and infrastructure during the two World Wars. Wars have and still play an important role in a person's life and in shaping the world's politics. Wars have been fought to establish and destroy civilizations, and for the expansion of states. There have been so many wars and battles fought that many of them might not have been documented. The same applies to the number of people killed in them. Here, we are talking about a country in the world which has fought the most wars and where India ranks on this list. Many reports mention that France is the country that has fought the most wars. France has a significant colonial history, having enslaved many countries around the world during which several battles were fought. Up until now, France has fought 13 wars in the 20th century. According to a report by 247wallst, in these 13 wars, France participated in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021 as a member country of NATO. The French military has also been entangled in the struggles in Maghreb in Africa for a long time. France participated in the civil war in Ivory Coast. There has also been participation of French forces in the civil war in Chad. France has also engaged in the Somali civil war. Additionally, the French military has openly participated in battles against Boko Haram, the Libyan civil war, warfare in Mali, the Syrian civil war, and the Iraqi civil war. Where does India stand When it comes to the wars of the 20th century, India has fought wars with both Pakistan and China. The major wars include those fought in 1947, 1962, 1965, 1971, and 1999, in addition to occasional skirmishes between the Indian Army and the forces of China and Pakistan. Based on participation in wars, India is considered to hold the fifth position globally, although this number could be doubtful.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said the Delhi government will set up 7,000 smart classrooms in its schools by the end of the year. She added that 175 digital libraries and 100 A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said the Delhi government will set up 7,000 smart classrooms in its schools by the end of the year. She added that 175 digital libraries and 100 A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Language Labs offering foreign language instruction in English, French, and German will also be made operational in the Delhi government-run schools. The CM made the announcements following a meeting she chaired with the principals of Delhi government schools in her Assembly constituency of Shalimar Bagh. 'Intimidating parents' In a social media post later in the day, she spoke about the 'alarming reports of schools employing bouncers to intimidate parents and students'. 'Education is a right, not a business. Our children deserve compassion, not coercion. Schools must remain spaces of learning, values, and nation-building,' the CM said. Her comments come a day after the Delhi High Court expressed dismay at the 'reprehensible practice' by Delhi Public School, Dwarka, of allegedly hiring bouncers to block the entry of the students who had not paid the increased fee. Ms. Gupta hit out at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for engaging in 'propaganda about improving education' while 'failing to provide' basic education infrastructure despite being in power for 11 years, citing the state of a government school in her constituency's Haiderpur village. 'The area neither has an English-medium school nor a higher secondary school where science is taught,' she said. The CM added, 'Their much-celebrated school buildings were structurally weak — one built in 2018 deteriorated within just two years. This exposes their 'education model' and shows that it was merely a facade.' She said that many government schools lack proper sports grounds, face hygiene and security issues, and suffer from acute staff shortages. 'Ad hoc hirings' 'Many still do not have full-time principals and are run on ad hoc arrangements,' said Ms. Gupta. 'We are ensuring recruitment for all vacant positions, appointment of permanent principals, and deployment of adequate security and sanitation employees in our schools,' said the CM. She also criticised the Delhi Board of School Education, which was started by the previous AAP government, saying, 'This parallel board could pose issues for students seeking college admissions and may affect the recognition of their certificates in India and abroad. Such decisions [to create a new board] endanger the future of our children.' Ms. Gupta also inaugurated a water cooler at a school in Shalimar Bagh and said that plans are being made to instal such machines in all the nearly 1,000 schools run by the Delhi government as well as in other parts of the city. AAP did not issue any response to the allegations levelled by the CM.
