Forbes Middle East has revealed its Top 100 Arab Family Businesses 2025 list, featuring eight Qatari families recognized for their lasting influence and financial success across industries like hospitality, retail, and manufacturing. This highlights Qatar's growing impact on the regional economy.
The list showcases 33 companies from Saudi Arabia, 32 from the U.A.E., and eight from Qatar.
#9 - Al Faisal Holding - Founder & Chairman: Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani
Al Faisal Holding was established in 1964 to trade in automotive parts. Today, the group operates across various sectors, including real estate, hospitality, trading, and construction. Its subsidiary, the Al Rayan Tourism Investment Company, owns over 35 hotels across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and North America. In November 2024, the company established Al Faisal Al Baladi Holding Group to operate in distribution, retail, manufacturing, F&B, and hospitality. Al Faisal Holding's chairman, Al Thani, had a net worth of $1.8 billion as of April 2025.
#10 - Power International Holding (PIH) - Group Chairman; President & Group CEO: Moutaz Al Khayyat; Ramez Al Khayyat
PIH has over 400 companies across 19 countries operating in energy, concessions and construction, healthcare, professional services and contracting industries, agriculture, and food industries, among others. Its subsidiaries include UCC Holding, Estithmar Holding, Baladna, Assets Group, Aura Group, and TMT Group. In November 2024, PIH began the Zliten Power Plant Project in Libya by URBACON HOLDING, in partnership with Elsewedy Electric and the General Electricity Company of Libya. In January 2025, it completed the full acquisition of Mobile Telecom-Service LLP from Kazakhtelecom in Kazakhstan.

Darwish Holding was founded in the early 1900s in Qatar. Today, the group encompasses nine divisions, including real estate, stock market, retail, wholesale, malls, and technology. In 2024, the group expanded its real estate portfolio with new commercial and residential projects across Qatar. Fifty One East, the retail arm of Darwish Holding, is among the largest department store chains in Qatar, housing luxury brands such as Rolex, CHANEL, Boucheron, L'Oréal, and Sony, some of which have been represented by the group since the late 1940s.

Founded in 1954 by Hussain Ibrahim Alfardan, Alfardan Group has grown into one of the most prominent family conglomerates in the GCC, it operates in jewellery, exchange, property, automotive, hospitality, investment, marine services, medical, and agriculture. In September 2024, it launched Athar, its first Group-wide sustainability strategy.
#74 - AbuIssa Holding - Chairman: Ashraf Abu Issa
AbuIssa Holding was established in 1981 by the late Abdul Rahim Abu Issa. The group operates over 100 retail stores and more than 10 distribution firms. It holds majority stakes in over 30 companies spanning sectors such as contracting, electronics, ICT and security, interior design, hospitality, and marketing. The group's portfolio includes developments like Kinza, a beverage launched in January 2024, and major distribution expansions through Palais Royal and Unipharm. Its auction arm, Al Bahie, recently broke a global carpet sales record.

Almuftah Group began selling gramophone records in 1963 and now spans manufacturing, trading, contracting, international schools, services, and F&B. In October 2024, it started construction of an Almuftah Jewellery showroom, and in November 2024 inaugurated its Aqua Plastic Factory.

Founded in 1960 in Qatar, Almana Group operates in 10+ sectors, runs 30 businesses, and represents 100+ international brands, such as Coca‑Cola, Ford, Jeep, and Hertz. In 2024, Qatar Galvanizing, an Almana subsidiary, painted sections of the $22 million North Field expansion, and Saudi Arabia's $25.6 million Neom Project. In January 2025, Insulation Engineering Company JV'd with Al Tamimi Contracting to form an industrial‑services firm.
Founded over 50 years ago by Mohamed Bin Hamad Abdullah J. Al Thani, MBHH operates in healthcare, hotels, real estate, travel & tourism, petrochemicals, F&B, and facilities management. MBHH also has Doha Clinic Hospital, one of Qatar's first fully-integrated private hospitals. In March 2025, its travel and tourism arm, Trans Orient, signed an agreement with Somon Air to launch Qatar–Tajikistan flights.

Qatar reiterates firm support for Syria's unity, sovereignty
QNA Doha Qatar has reiterated its firm and supportive stances on the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as on the realisation of the aspirations of its fraternal people for a dignified life and the building of a state of institutions and law. This came as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received a high-level Syrian ministerial delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic HE Asaad Hassan Al Shaibani, accompanied by seven ministers, in Doha on Tuesday. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening the solid fraternal relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. At the outset of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates conveyed the greetings of President of the Syrian Arab Republic HE Ahmed Al Sharaa to His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wishes for the State of Qatar, its government, and people, continued progress and prosperity. The Syrian minister also expressed Syria's deep appreciation for the State of Qatar's initiatives and continuous efforts in support of the reconstruction process in Syria, praising Qatar's firm stances toward supporting the Syrian people. In turn, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir to the president of the Syrian Arab Republic, and His Highness' wishes for continued health and happiness for His Excellency, and for continued progress and prosperity for the government and people of the Syrian Arab Republic. The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasising the depth of fraternal ties that unite them and their mutual commitment to strengthening and developing cooperation in various areas of common interest. The meeting also discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the energy, economy, trade, finance, tourism, communications, information technology, higher education, development, and other sectors, including: • Support and supply the Syrian Arab Republic with electricity. • Settling the Syrian Arab Republic's debt to the World Bank, jointly by the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. • Providing joint financial support from the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the salaries of public sector workers in the Syrian Arab Republic for a period of three months. The Qatari side reiterated the State of Qatar's firm and supportive stances on the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as on the realization of the aspirations of its fraternal people for a dignified life and the building of a state of institutions and law. It also categorically rejected any attempts to undermine Syria's unity or undermine its national sovereignty. QC explores cooperation with Sialkot Chamber of Pakistan

The Pakistani delegation includedMuhammad Imtiaz Khan, Executive Director of Med Ask, a healthcare company; Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, CEO of DRM Pharma & Diagnostic; andKhawaja Masood Akhtar, Chairman of Forward Group, a leading manufacturer and exporter of footballs. During the meeting, the two sides discussed avenues for enhancing trade and economic cooperation between Qatar and Pakistan. Discussions also focused on strengthening institutional collaboration between the Qatar Chamber and the Sialkot Chamber to support private sector engagement and boost bilateral trade and investment. Al Mansouri praised the close relations between the two countries, particularly in trade and economic fields. He noted that the total volume of trade exchange reached approximately QAR 12.7 billion in 2024, with QAR 12.2 billion representing Qatari exports primarily petroleum gases and gaseous hydrocarbons while imports from Pakistan amounted to about QAR 500 million. He also highlighted the presence of more than 2,000 Pakistani companies registered with the Qatar Chamber, operating in partnership with Qatari firms, in addition to 37 companies that are fully Pakistani-owned. He affirmed that the Qatari market remains open and welcoming to more Pakistani investors. Ikram ul Haq expressed appreciation for the strong bilateral relations and emphasized that the delegation includes key representatives from Pakistan's healthcare and sports manufacturing sectors, who are keen to forge strategic alliances with Qatari businesses. Muhammad Imtiaz Khan highlighted the diverse investment opportunities available in Sialkot, particularly in the healthcare sector. He noted that Pakistani firms are eager to collaborate with Qatari counterparts in establishing joint ventures in hospitals, pharmacies, and medical laboratories. Khawaja Masood Akhtar remarked that his company manufactured the footballs used during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and is currently producing footballs for the 2026 tournament. He expressed interest in building partnerships with Qatari companies to further expand their international presence.
