Scientists test unbelievable robot with the potential to revolutionize food production: 'A fantastic achievement'
Roboton Farmer is a new robot designed to improve and automate agricultural practices, beginning with apple orchards in Washington State.
The Roboton is an intelligent machine that helps conserve resources while nourishing apple trees. It uses artificial intelligence and algorithms to carry out an array of tasks. The robot can seed, water, weed, fertilize, irrigate, and more. Delivering precision farming, it operates using a combination of GPS, cameras, sensors, and simulations.
Roboton's ability to work 24/7 addresses worker shortages in the agro-industry. Its environmentally conscious design also preserves resources to make farming more cost-efficient. The solar-powered design means no fuel is necessary. And it produces no harmful pollution. This saves around 105 gallons (400 liters) of diesel yearly. Its advanced design also conserves up to 83% more water.
This robot is designed for 100% organic farming, reducing the use of pesticides and herbicides. Terrain adaptability and monitoring reduces soil damage and disruption, allowing crops to grow in peace. It can be controlled via mobile and web apps, making it a convenient solution for many farmers.
One of Roboton's most impressive features is its targeted fertilizing. Rather than fertilizing a whole orchard, Roboton can customize fertilization for individual trees. This saves fertilizer while helping each tree thrive.
Roboton is not the only device making waves in agriculture. The Wall Street Journal reported on numerous innovations. Researchers at Washington State University are testing robotic pollinators in regions lacking bees. Washington State and Oregon State University teams are experimenting with advanced pruning systems.
All these inventions can make farming greener. AI algorithms find ways to use fewer resources without sacrificing results. These machines can also eliminate repetitive, labor-intensive work for farmers. Farmers can focus on more nuanced and progressive tasks.
The improved efficiency means healthier crops and higher yields. The robots can prevent crop shortages and help reduce grocery prices. Consumers benefit from the efficiency, and Earth benefits from the eco-friendly design.
Roboton is now available to farmers. While it has proved itself in orchards, it can be used for various crops. The company says its modular design makes it adaptable to other industries. It has potential in fields like construction, humanitarian aid, space exploration, and emergency services.

Trump reportedly plans to extend the pause on the TikTok ban yet again
President Donald Trump plans to extend the pause on enforcing the TikTok ban once again, The Wall Street Journal reports. Trump previously extended the pause on April 4 to give TikTok, its potential US buyers and the Chinese government more time to reach an agreement, but the deal has made little progress since then. The current pause on enforcement is supposed to end on June 19. Given the state of the negotiations between the US and China, the odds of a deal being reached before then seem highly unlikely. The issue hasn't been helped by the fluctuating tariffs the Trump administration has attempted to levy on goods manufactured outside of the US, which started on April 2 and at one point included a 125 percent tariff on everything shipped from China. The two countries are expected to restart trade negotiations at some point in the near-future, according to The New York Times , but there's been no public mention of a TikTok sale being a key part of the discussion. A number of investors are still looking to own a piece of the US version of the app, including the software company Oracle, which has a pre-existing relationship with TikTok as a cloud provider. The TikTok ban went into effect on January 19. TikTok tried to appeal the ban beforehand, but the Supreme Court ultimately decided to uphold it, prompting Trump's first executive order pausing the ban on January 20, 2025.

Trump seeks to weaken Senator Lindsey Graham's devastating Russia sanctions bill
The administration of US President Donald Trump has urged Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to soften sanctions against Russia in the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, which has strong bipartisan support in the Senate. Source: The Wall Street Journal, as reported by European Pravda Details: The Wall Street Journal reports that White House officials recently contacted Graham's office pressing for changes to the bill's sanctions provisions. Aides to the senator, who asked to remain anonymous, said that among other things, the Trump administration proposed adding provisions to the draft that would allow the US president to decide whom or what to sanction. The White House also suggested replacing the word "shall" with "may" throughout the bill, removing the mandatory nature of the sanctions, the WSJ reported. Graham's team expressed frustration, arguing that diluting the mandatory sanctions would render the bill ineffective and noting that Trump already has discretionary powers to impose sanctions. Previously: Senators Lindsey Graham (Republican) and Richard Blumenthal (Democrat), supported by 82 co-sponsors, introduced the bill to impose economic sanctions on Russia for obstructing ceasefire efforts in its war of aggression against Ukraine, particularly by imposing a 500% tariff on goods imported from countries that purchase Russian oil. The bill also has bipartisan support in the House of Representatives, where a companion bill has 33 co-sponsors. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump would make the final decision on any potential tightening of sanctions against Russia. Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Trump looks to unload red Tesla he bought from Elon Musk in March amid titans' nuclear fallout
President Donald Trump is thinking of getting rid of the red Tesla that he bought from Elon Musk earlier this year as the feud between the two continues, according to reports. Trump is considering either selling the Model S electric vehicle, priced at around $80,000, or giving it away, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a senior White House official. The car was pictured Friday parked outside the West Wing between the White House and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, a picture taken by Reuters news agency showed. Trump purchased the Tesla in a show of support to the former 'first buddy' after the cars were being targeted by vandals following sweeping layoffs Musk was making via the Department of Government Efficiency. He also said that he had bought a Cybertruck for his granddaughter Kai Trump. The president turned the White House lawn into a Tesla showroom in March when the friendship was blooming. The president wrote on Truth Social at the time that 'the Radical Left Lunatics' were boycotting 'Tesla, one of the World's great automakers, and Elon's 'baby,' in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for.' 'In any event, I'm going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American,' Trump said. 'Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???' Tesla took a hit during Musk's time at the White House and did so again Thursday when he started publicly feuding with Trump on X. In April's report, Tesla's quarterly profits of $40 9million contrasted starkly with last year's $1.4 billion figure for the same three months - and the 71 percent drop represents the company's lowest quarterly profits since 2020. And on Thursday, the argument wiped $138 billion off Tesla's valuation. Shares recovered Friday, rising nearly 5 percent. Musk lost $34 billion in net worth when the feud ramped up. Some Tesla stock investors had already begun pulling their investments before the fight after Musk insulted Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' and made a swift exit from his 'special government employee' position.
