Passengers have been subjected to massive delays at Brisbane Airport following a 'breakdown in procedures' at the international terminal.
The incident, which took place on Saturday evening, led to travellers being rescreened by security and delays for 11 departing international flights.
One frustrated passenger shared a clip of the chaos on TikTok as he revealed he had been kept in the dark over the reason for the rescreening.
Sean Harcourt-Bell, who was travelling through the international terminal over Easter weekend, explained he was delayed for two and a half hours.
'So I'm currently standing in Brisbane International Airport and they've done a massive sweep to get rid of all staff and passengers,' he said.
'They're going to rescreen everyone and they're very aloof on what's happened.'
Mr Harcourt-Bell claimed he wasn't informed the reason for the delay 'officially' as passengers were forced to wait hours for the issue to be resolved.
Brisbane Airport confirmed a incident took place at the international terminal on Saturday, April 19.
A representative of Brisbane Airport told Daily Mail Australia: 'As a result of a breakdown in procedures for arriving passengers at Brisbane Airport's International Terminal on Saturday evening, there were delays for 11 departing international flights.
'Inbound international services and domestic flights were not impacted, and no flights were cancelled.
'At 6.20pm, passengers arriving on a service from Port Vila entered the sterile departure area instead of the border control level of the terminal.
'The safety and security of all passengers is our utmost priority and as a result the decision was made to rescreen all departing passengers within the International Terminal.
'Additional Brisbane Airport team members were called in to the terminal to assist and extra security screening capacity was opened.
'We apologise to all passengers who were delayed and we're thankful everyone made their flights without any cancellations.
'A thorough investigation is underway to determine how the breakdown in the arrival procedure occurred. We thank all passengers for their patience during this busy Easter travel period.'

However she quickly encountered one aspect of daily life in Spain that continues to baffle her – and it has nothing to do with the sunshine. Marta turned to her TikTok account to share her major cultural shock since moving to Spain. "One thing that will never stop surprising me about Spain is that they go to eat so freaking late," Marta said in her video. She continued to explain that she'd gone out for dinner with friends the previous evening, but that their booking hadn't been until 10pm. Even then, people arrived more than half an hour late, which she said is a common occurrence in Spanish culture. "And you know you have to think about the order, gets some starters, the main meal. And literally it took so much time," she said, explaining that they were eating until midnight. ‌ "And I'm not complaining, it was so much fun, I love it," she said. "I love to live fully with another culture where I'm living or where I'm at, like at holidays. Spain is my home now, but like, that is just so funny and I think it'll never stop surprising me." Marta went on to advise tourists: "So if you go to Spain, just don't be necessarily on time. Stick [...] with easy and chill, it'll be better for you." People quickly took to the comments to share their own experiences, with many Spanish people relating to what Marta had to say. "As a Spanish this is so true haha," one viewer wrote. This small airport in Scotland has been listed as one of the best in Europe by the Airport Service Quality Awards - one of only two UK airports recognised across all categories this year In an era of flashy global airports boasting waterfalls and amusement parks that put Heathrow to shame, there is one small UK airport that is a consistent star. This tiny airport in Scotland has been named one of the best in Europe for the past five years running, in fact. Inverness Airport has been recognised once again by the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. Inverness was listed among the top six airports in Europe which service under two million passengers annually. ‌ Airports Council International determines the best airports based on a survey measuring passenger satisfaction. The awards recognises airports with the top 20 percent overall satisfaction score - organised by size and region. ‌ Inverness was among six European airports recognised in its section, the only airport in the category in the UK. In fact, the Scottish airport was the only hub in the category not based in Spain. The only other UK airport included in the awards was Newcastle International Airport in the two to five million passengers per year category. Inverness Airport's exemplary staff also received recognition from the Airports Council International. The airport won another ASQ award for having some of the most dedicated airport staff in Europe - for the third year in a row. Graeme Bell, General Manager of Inverness Airport, said: "To win these awards for the fifth consecutive year is an incredible achievement and a proud moment for everyone involved with Inverness Airport. 'Being recognised for the third year running as the Airport with the Most Dedicated Staff in Europe as well is a testament to the hard work, passion, and commitment of our entire team,' Bell continued. ‌ Inverness Airport is located nine miles east of Inverness city centre and is a key transport hub for the Highlands and Islands.
