Neeraj Chopra aims to set the record straight against Julian Weber at the Paris Diamond League 2025 on June 20 at Stade Sébastien Charléty.
Neeraj Chopra stands the chance to set the record straight against Julian Weber at the Paris Diamond League 2025 to be held at the Stade Sébastien Charléty in France late at night on Friday, June 20.
Neeraj's rematch versus Weber will be the biggest point of attraction for the fans after their exciting duel at two major events earlier this year.
During the Doha Diamond League in May, Chopra broke a personal barrier, overcoming the 90m mark for the first time in his career with a valiant throw recorded at 90.23m.
But Neeraj still finished runners-up after Weber, too, broke the 90m barrier, but with a throw of 91.06m that won him the Doha title.
Weber again rained on Chopra's parade at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Chorzow by making a throw of 86.12m above his Indian rival's 84.14.
Neeraj will be eyeing his first major title of the year by converting the recent runners-up finishes into a memorable championship triumph before the top rung of javelin throwers convene in Bengaluru on July 5 for the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic.
Neeraj will be the only Indian competing at the Paris Diamond League, which also marks his return to the event for the first time since 2017.
As is often the case in this era in javelin, the competition will be stiff. Apart from Weber, Neeraj will be challenged for supremacy by Olympic bronze medalist Anderson Peters of Grenada, along with Keshorn Walcott, Julius Yego, Luiz Mauricio da Silva and Andrian Mardare.
Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem won't be present at the event. Remi Rougetet will be the local representative.
When And Where will Neeraj Chopra's event at the Paris Diamond League 2025 be held?
The Paris Diamond League 2025 will be held at the Stade Sébastien Charléty in France late at night on Friday, June 20. The Neeraj Chopra javelin event kicks off at 1:12 AM IST (subject to change).

Modi, Gadkari & CM Laud Nagpur Chess Queen Divya For Historic Win Over World Women's No.1

1 2 Nagpur: Two days after the TOI exclusively highlighted Divya Deshmukh's heroics in the World Blitz and Rapid Team Championships, where Nagpur's golden girl stunned the world's best women chess player, China's Hou Yifan, in London, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the 19-year-old's historic victory. While minister of state for sports Raksha Khadse, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Nagpur MP Nitin Gadkari took inputs from the TOI report to congratulate Divya first on Wednesday, Modi and others lauded India's chess sensation's efforts on Thursday. On Monday, Nagpur's world junior no.1 and International Master (IM) Divya registered a hard-fought 74-move win over world women's No.1 Yifan in the second leg of the semifinal round in the blitz team chess championship. Overall, Divya brought home a total of three medals representing Hexamind Chess Club in both the blitz and rapid events. In an exclusive story on Tuesday, the TOI reported the face-off between the best women chess player and her junior counterpart — China's Yifan vs India's Divya. The face-off between Yifan and Divya in the shortest format of chess had similarities to the classical game played between Magnus Carlsen and D Gukesh, where the recent 'Oh My God' moment happened when the world No.1 suffered his first defeat to the youngest world champion. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like เริ่มแล้ว! ตลาด USDJPY อยู่ในช่วงขาขึ้นกว่าเดิม IC Markets สมัคร Undo When Divya recorded her first win over Yifan, the Nagpur girl got a bit emotional but controlled her emotions and went to prepare for the bronze medal match. Congratulating Divya on X, Modi said, "Divya's success highlights her grit and determination. It also inspires many upcoming chess players. Best wishes for her future endeavours." Modi's congratulatory message on Thursday made the media line up for a bite from Divya at her Shankar Nagar residence. Replying to Modi's message, Divya said, "PM Modi sir has written very nice things which are very encouraging and motivating, so it makes me feel very good and gives me a lot of inspiration to win medals for India in the future." Fadnavis wrote, "What an extraordinary moment as Divya defeats world No.1 Hou Yifan in London. Her fearless moves, sharp focus, and unshakable determination have not only secured a historic victory but also made every Indian — and every Maharashtrian — proud. This isn't just a win on the board, it's a statement to the world that young talent from India is ready to conquer global arenas. Wishing Divya many more glorious victories ahead. Indian chess has found a new queen, and she hails from Nagpur!" Following Modi's congratulatory message, the country's who's who have started lauding Divya.

'Felt strange': Kapil Dev on Pataudi Trophy being renamed Anderson-Tendulkar

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) Legendary India all rounder Kapil Dev has expressed surprise at the Pataudi Trophy for India-England Test matches being renamed as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, describing the development as "strange." The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to rename the Test series hosted by England against India to honour Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar and legendry English fast bowler James Anderson. "It feels a little strange… like, does this also happen? But that's okay, everything works in cricket. At the end of the day, there is no difference. Cricket is cricket. The cricket on the field should be the same," said Dev on Wednesday. He was speaking at an event organised by Three Sixty to commemorate his iconic 175 not out against Zimbabwe during a 1983 World Cup match at Tunbridge Wells. The earlier name, the Pataudi Trophy, was instituted in 2007 in honour of the legendary Indian batsman and captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi. The decision was questioned by many as the illustrious Pataudi family has deep ties to both Indian and English cricket. While Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi is the only Test cricketer to have played for both England and India, his son Mansur captained India and played county cricket in England. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi is rated as one of the best Indian captain of all time, and it was under his stewartship that India achieved their first overseas Test victory against New Zealand in 1967. As per reports, even Sachin Tendulkar and ICC chairman Jay Shah are attempting to convince the ECB to reverse their decision to rename the Trophy. The ECB has, however, retained the Pataudi Medal for Excellence, which will be awarded to the winning captain of the series. The five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series will commence on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. UNI RKM SSP
