REI's biggest sale of the year is here. That's right — the outdoor retailer's Anniversary Sale is on until May 26, meaning it'll run right through Memorial Day. Since the deals team has been searching for the best Memorial Day deals leading up to the long weekend, we couldn't pass shopping up to 30% off full-priced gear from REI.
Editor-favorite pieces at REI have received high praise when we've put them to the test on the trail, on vacation and the like. Our outdoors expert has shopped at the brand for a decade and knows what's worth buying or passing up on. That said, I guarantee you'll find at least one item you like from this list, whether you need clothing, gear, shoes or fitness essentials.

Carve Designs Women's Knox Gauze Jumpsuit
This gauzy jumpsuit looks like it's from a boutique; no one would know that it's from REI. It has roomy pockets for holding keys, wallets and more, and it has adjustable straps for a more tailored look.
Columbia Women's Skien Valley Hooded Long-Sleeve Shirt
During buggy trail runs, you'll wish you packed Columbia's lightweight polyester hoodie. It's crafted from insect-repelling fabric, features a mesh face mask and offers sun protection with its UPF 50 material.

These might look like your typical trail shorts, but they keep you cool and are made for a variety of elements. When temps get hot, you can wear these in lakes or swimming holes — you name it.
Smartwool Men's Classic All-Season Merino T-Shirt
All seven colors of this moisture-wicking tee are $20 off. It's made for all types of weather and is designed to be worn alone in the summer months or layered with jackets in the winter.
Janji Men's Sunchaser 50 Hooded Long-Sleeve Shirt
Stay cool and sweat-free all day long at the beach. This long-sleeved shirt boasts UPF 50 fabric for sun protection. Complete with a hood, it keeps you covered from the top of your head to your hip, and its seaming helps prevent chafing.
Topo Designs Men's Dirt Shorts
For the guys looking for a little extra length, these 7-inch shorts are not too long and not too short. They hit right above the knee, and their flexible fabric is designed for anything from hikes or brunches.
The North Face Wawona 6 Tent
Feel like you're in a living room versus a camping tent with The North Face's extra-large Wawona 6. Spacious enough to stand in, it fits folding chairs and beds too. Luckily, its bright orange build is on sale for a limited time.
Nemo Moonlite Elite Reclining Backpacking Chair
Nemo's lightweight chair is supportive, easy to carry and keeps you comfortable on the go. It weighs just over one pound, making it feel as heavy as a water jug in your pack. Despite its compact build, it can hold over 200 pounds, per the brand.
Big Agnes Rapide SL Insulated Tent Floor Sleeping Pad
This cushioned sleeping pad is over 4 inches and will keep you comfortable all night. It can hold up to two people and features a quilted top to mimic a mattress-like feel.
Coleman Cascade Classic Camp Stove
For nights when packaged meals and trail mixes aren't cutting it, whip out this under $100 Coleman stove. It surprisingly fits 10- and 12-inch pans simultaneously. Plus, the wind guard helps protect your flame.
Thule Urban Glide 3 Stroller
For those who incorporate children into their jogging routine, consider upgrading that hand-me-down stroller to something that can handle uneven pavements and rough terrain.
Nomadix Original Towel
A versatile towel is something that I pretty much always travel with. I like having a slim, packable towel for potential beach days, yoga sessions and other impromptu activities.
Nathan Women's Pinnacle Breeze 4 L Hydration Vest
From intense mileage runs to race days, a hydration pack is here to keep your thirst quenched, and it can even hold your energy gels. Nathan's has six pockets for your essentials, and it is constructed from mesh for added breathability.
Osprey Men's Duro 6 Hydration Vest
If you train with your significant other, consider getting them this vest for Father's Day. It's one of Osprey's bestsellers and can hold up to 1.5 liters of water. Get it for 25% off in an earthy green or muted grey.
Oofos Women's Oomega Ooahh Sandals
Take your R&R game to the next level with Oofos recovery sandals. Its updated footbed and midsole reduce stress on joints post-workout and help support your tired arches.
La Sportiva Women's TX4 EVO Approach Shoes
La Sportiva makes some of the coolest functional footwear around, and now its blue and tomato-hued pair is $42 off ahead of summer. They're best for hiking or climbing, but I'm eyeing them for everyday use.
Keen Women's Uneek Astoria Sandals
In a world full of Tevas and Birkenstocks, Keen's comfortable and uniquely stylish footwear should be getting the praise it deserves. Wear them on the town or to the beach, and sink your feet into its supportive footbed.
New Balance Women's FuelCell Rebel V4 Road-Running Shoes
These cloud-like road runners are suitable for everyday use. Those who are just getting into running or are training for a 5K will love the neutral support, foot-hugging upper and drop on these kicks.
Merrell Men's Moab 3 Waterproof Hiking Shoes
Once you put a pair of Merrell's Moab 3s on your feet, you'll quickly realize that they require no breaking in. The shoes are comfortable right out of the box and make the perfect spring-summer hiking shoe with their ankle height rise.
Saucony Men's Peregrine 15 Trail-Running Shoes
All four color variations of Saucony's grip-soled trail runners are $35 off. Its upper is made from durable polyester to keep your feet protected in rough environments, and its base provides moderate cushion when running.
Oboz Men's Whakata Puffy Low Slippers
Sometimes, getting cozy on the trail can be quite difficult. For the nights when you want to kick up your feet on the campsite, consider splurging on these quilted slippers from Oboz.
Adidas Men's Supernova Rise Road-Running Shoes
Adidas loyalists are in luck with this rare deal on a pair of its bestselling running shoes. Great for those who want a more neutral ride, this trusty pair of road runners has an almost five-star rating. While this isn't technically REI's official Memorial Day sale, the Anniversary Sale happens to coincide with the holiday weekend. Apparel, gear and shoes are up to 30% off while its outlet items are up to 60% off until May 26. This event is worth shopping because many of us need spring and summer-ready pieces. Plus, REI members can get an additional 20% off one item with code ANNIV2025.

6 Lightweight Items For Fastpacking, Hiking And Backpacking

Having good gear while exploring in the outdoors can make or break an adventure. It's nearly summer, which means it's time to dust off the hiking boots, pull out the tent, locate your hiking poles, and determine what essential items you might need or want for upcoming outdoor trips. Whether you're planning on an easy day hike, a challenging multi-night backpacking adventure, or a fun hut to hut fastpacking journey, here are some smart items worth their weight to bring along on your next romp in nature. If you're going to be out on the trail, it's important to bring along a lightweight headlamp, even if you aren't planning on hiking in the dark. Just as essential as a First Aid kit, a headlamp is an important safety gear item. Unplanned night hiking without anything to light the way, or keep you safely on the trail, can be very dangerous. For an ultralight option, bring along the Knog Bilby 400 Headlamp. It's not only lightweight, it's also powerful and perfect for all backpacking adventures. There are only so many days you can sit in the dirt while at your campsite. Bringing along a lightweight chair, which folds in a tiny package and can easily be carried, is a luxury item to be sure, but one you'll be happy to have. The smallest and most compact chair in the Helinox lineup is the Chair Zero. Weighing in at only one pound, this small but mighty comfort item has an award-winning design and can support up to 265 pounds. Your back will thank you. Choosing lightweight gear items is important when backpacking for multiple days. When hiking and backpacking, it can be cumbersome to slather on sunscreen to every inch of exposed skin throughout the day, every day. A smarter solution is a sun hoodie that can be pulled up and over your ball cap, shielding your face, neck, shoulders, and arms from harmful rays. The Nuyarn Ultralight Merino is the high-performance material that can really go the distance. Ultralight, durable, and breathable, a long-sleeved shirt is super comfortable and can be worn multiple days in a row, especially with quick drying material. Choose from the Feathertop Ultralight Hooded Long Sleeve Tee from Le Bent, or the Tern Ultralight Merino Wool Hoodie from Outdoor Vitals. Binoculars add enjoyment to wildlife viewing, especially for kids and families. For wildlife viewing, it's nice to have a pair of binoculars or a monocular to spot birds, deer, and other woodland creatures. The Nocs Provisions Zero Tube is compact, lightweight, and hard-wearing, making it easy to bring along on outdoor adventures—it's slim enough to fit in your pack without being bulky or weighty. Waterproof, fog proof, and impact resistant, Nocs has designed a perfect solution for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. We've all heard that cotton may be problematic for hiking and backpacking. It's important to wear a moisture wicking fabric that dries quickly and can keep your body temperature regulated. The ARTILECT Nuyarn Sprint Tee is not only lightweight, it's made from merino fabric, a fast drying, breathable, and durable material that feels soft to the skin. This is the go-to hiking shirt for summer, whether you're on a multi-day backpacking adventure or a gentle day hike. Adding color to your outdoor wardrobe can also brighten up your experience. From backpacks to hiking boots to the perfect sun shirt, each item has an essential role. For women, going to the bathroom in the woods can be a challenge. Who wants to be fully exposed every time they feel the urge to relieve themselves? Enter: Gnara. This company makes smart pants, leggings, and shorts with a built in zipper that opens wide enough to do your business when nature calls. The perfect adventure pants, from the perfect women owned and operated company, choose from the Go There Pants, Go There Shorts, or the Go Free 7/8 Leggings.

11 Things Olivia Munn Loves, Including An Unusual Item In Her Carry-On

Shop Like is a column in which Forbes Vetted asks some of the most stylish and notable personalities about their favorite items to buy, gift and receive. Look no further for shopping advice and inspiration. As a mom of two, a wife and an actress, Olivia Munn has a packed schedule. The Your Friends & Neighbors star is currently filming season 2 of the hit Apple TV show, but that didn't stop her from attending Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program luncheon last week in New York City. For Munn, the reaction to the show has been unparalleled. 'The response we've gotten from the first season has been so amazing; it has given everyone an extra boost as we film,' she told me. 'Since the finale, I've gotten so many texts and DMs from friends that were so surprised by the ending and never predicted it, which is what you want in a 'whodunit' storyline.' Between filming and caring for her two young children with husband John Mulaney, she's always on the go, so an effortless but elevated wardrobe is what she gravitates toward. 'My look works perfectly for me because it's an elevated version of what I wear on a daily basis,' she said of her outfit [below] from the event. 'I love denim paired with an easy blouse or tee, then paired with a classic and timeless bag and watch. I always gravitate towards timeless and classic pieces over trendy: pieces that will wear and age beautifully over time that I can pass down to [my daughter] Mei to wear one day.' Olivia Munn, wearing Chanel, attends Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program luncheon at the Greenwich Hotel on June 6, 2025, in New York City. Jamie McCarthy/WireImage Below, Munn shares her shopping essentials that help fuel her success and keep her organized—and always looking chic. 'I recently got the Celluma red light therapy device and will use that every night, which is a great time to meditate, since I have to lie down for it.' 'I will buy any vintage, worn-in Levi's that I find. I have so many, and I love each and every one. I literally can't get enough.' 'A Lego t-shirt that has pictures of Lego pieces on it. I was just at Legoland with my son, and all he wanted was a shirt with Lego pieces on it—and can you believe that not one gift shop has that? They only have ones with Lego heads on it.' 'A small, very flat mirror. Checking my makeup in my phone in selfie mode never helps because it looks distorted. A mirror is the only way I can see if I blended my makeup fully. There have been one too many times I've gone outside only for a friend to tell me to go back inside and blend.' 'If I had to pick just one beauty product, it would be Sublimage Le Masque Ultimate Mask. It leaves my skin so hydrated that I wake up with softer, dewy skin. And since using it, I've had so many compliments from friends who see a difference in my skin. A little tip I learned when layering products is to apply them in order of thinnest consistency to thickest. It helps penetrate into the skin better and then lock it in.' 'I use a squishy blanket as a pillow. It's plush and scrunches up into a pillow consistency. I wrap it halfway around my neck, so if I turn my head while sleeping, it doesn't press into my face. Lying on your side can really age your face, and this has helped tremendously. I've been doing this for years. The one I get is the Snuggle Sac.' 'I carry a hot water bottle. I'm cold on every flight. The hot water bottle has changed the flying game for me. I bring it onto the plane empty and ask the flight attendant to fill it with the hot water they use for their tea and coffee.' 'Having two children—a 3-year-old and an 8-month-old—most of my top-handle purses have moved to the back of my closet to make way for all of my crossbody ones.' 'I love my Tumi carry-on suitcase. It's the perfect size to hold everything I need for a three-day trip—it's lightweight so I can put it in the overhead compartment by myself. There are so many brands that make their luggage so heavy that by the time you add your clothes and shoes, it tips the scales into having to pay to check a bag.' 'The Nanit baby camera is my favorite. The interface is amazing, and the video quality is fantastic.' 'As a second-time mom, I made a list of items that are must-haves. The Doona stroller is an incredible invention. It converts from a car seat to a stroller, so you don't have to lug around both.

Shop My Baby Registry With Nestig CMO Sara Adam Slywka

Sara Adam Slywka started building her baby registry before she was even pregnant. That might not sound so uncommon for those who dream of welcoming little ones one day—except Slywka actually designed the products she wanted to see on her future registry by creating an entire nursery company: Nestig, makers of one of the most viral and beloved cribs. She met Gui Picciotto, her Nestig cofounder and partner, while earning her MBA at Columbia, but says she first caught the entrepreneurial spirit when she partnered with a former high school friend to run a small ethically sourced clothing line. Raised by two doctors, Slywka spent part of high school in east Africa where her mother worked for a time where she met her clothing line partner. Later, she worked in marketing at Amazon in the mega retailer's baby business thus igniting another spark that would lead to the birth of Nestig. At the same time, her brother was expecting a baby and sharing that they were frustrated by finding nursery pieces that fit with their design style. 'I felt like there was an opportunity to create more products that were both functional for everyday use, but really elevated from a visual and design perspective,' Slywka told me. 'And I also thought there was a big opportunity for a brand that celebrated the joy of getting ready to bring a new baby home.' Picciotto and Slywka founded the direct-to-consumer nursery company Nestig five years ago in the heart of the global pandemic (August 2020) with the really thoughtful and beautiful convertible Wave crib, and it's grown from there into offering nearly everything a design-minded couple might need to outfit their nursery, including additional cribs, bedding, dressers, toy storage, rugs and wallpaper. Next up for Nestig is expanding the assortment of furniture into older kids and teens. 'Our overall goal as a company is to be the most delightful place to shop for children's furniture,' she said. And now that she is an experienced mom and a favored nursery brand, I wondered what her baby registry must-haves might be in 2025. Find Slywka's picks below, including her very favorite Nestig creations. 'Living in a New York City apartment, I gravitate toward items that can convert and adapt as babies grow, so I buy—and store—things I can keep around longer. This works for bathing an infant in the sink with a mesh sling, then transitioning to an infant setting for the sink or tub, followed by a seat insert as babies start to want to sit up in the bath, and finally a toddler tub.' 'I'm biased, but the Cloud Crib made so much about being a new parent more manageable when my son was born. It's beautiful, but it's also a 3-in-1, so it started as a mini crib on wheels that could go from our room at night to his room for naps—and I could bring it into the living room if I wanted to keep an eye on him or have him be part of family time, while also making sure he was safe with lots of people around. I also loved having the mobile attached to the mini crib—it felt almost like a whole nursery on wheels! He is 2 now and still uses it converted to the full crib. I feel prepared knowing I already have everything I need to make the switch to a toddler bed once he figures out he can escape the crib.' 'My son spent his first few days in the NICU, and the doctors recommended this ready-to-serve formula. I continued using it as we transitioned home and loved that it was straightforward for anyone to feed him at any hour, anywhere, during those early newborn days. Everyone has their own feeding journey, but knowing that our formula was easy to find wherever we were gave me a lot of peace of mind.' 'I liked using these Philips Avent bottles as he got a little older. They control the pace of the milk and only release milk when he's actively drinking, allowing him to pause. They're also surprisingly easy to clean, with fewer parts than many other bottles.' 'The minute I saw the design for our Daydream wallpaper, I knew it would be the one for my son's nursery. This design is everything I love about our visual world at Nestig. The print is beautiful and botanical, with little paper planes and kites peppered throughout. The design feels completely timeless but with playful and unexpected details. At Nestig, we've found that wallpaper and murals are worth the investment, as they add so much life to a small space.' 'It's more than a camera, but I do love watching my son sleep in his Cloud Crib, and the Nanit monitor video is crystal clear. Tracking his stats, like when he went to bed and woke up, and how long it took him to fall asleep, made spotting trends easier without losing sleep. I can soothe him from another room if he's fussy without restarting the bedtime routine. Lately, when he wakes up, he talks to himself and plays in his crib, which I love to tune into.' 'The BabyBjörn was essential for us. From very early on, the bouncing soothed him when he was fussy, and it was one of his favorite places to be. Before we got the bouncer, I was struggling with things like getting myself a glass of water, and having a place to soothe him, made life much easier.' 'This is another essential my son is still using every day, two years later, and likely will still be using for a while. It starts with an infant seat that pulls right up to the table from day one. We started using it when he could sit up on his own with the five-point harness for those first solids. Now he uses it almost like a booster seat at the dinner table.' 'Is it pricey? Yes. Was the cost per wear worth it? Also yes. I started with another carrier I could never quite get on without help, but upgrading to the Artipoppe felt worth it when I felt more like myself.' Send me a secure tip.
