New Details Emerge in Fatal Crash Involving Francis Ngannou: Report

Yahoo23-05-2025

Francis Ngannou made headlines over Easter weekend following reports of his involvement in a fatal motorcycle accident in Cameroon. The incident was widely covered across media outlets and stirred intense speculation online. In response, TMZ Sports obtained a statement from the MMA superstar, who said, 'From the very beginning, I have been by the family's side, offering support, comfort, and deepest condolences during this time. I carry their pain with me, and my unwavering thoughts and support remain with them as they face this heartbreaking loss. I've met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way.'
This morning, French combat sports media outlet La Sueur—a well-followed Instagram account known for its consistent MMA and boxing coverage—shared an update based on an official release from the Yaoundé High Court. The release shifted focus from the accident itself to potential medical malpractice. It read, 'A serious medical error was made while taking care of Ms Tsama Manuella in hospital, including an overdose of anesthesia, which directly contributed to her death. We ask that all light be shed on the responsibility of the hospital establishment and the nursing staff.'
La Sueur (@lasueur on Instagram) has become a notable source for French-speaking MMA fans, often breaking exclusive news, conducting fighter interviews, and sharing behind-the-scenes content from UFC and other global promotions. Their platform regularly covers high-profile stories with in-depth regional insight.

As of now, there are no confirmed updates regarding Ngannou's fighting future. He has yet to book another bout following his PFL debut, and the focus remains firmly on the legal and ethical proceedings tied to the tragedy in Cameroon. His next move inside the cage remains unknown, and it's unclear how this ongoing situation might impact his standing with PFL or any potential future crossover opportunities. For now, the former UFC champion remains under scrutiny as more details unfold.

Ian Machado Garry: Leon Edwards should retire, clearly doesn't have love for it anymore

Ian Machado Garry: Leon Edwards should retire, clearly doesn't have love for it anymore Ian Machado Garry doesn't think former UFC champ Leon Edwards can hang with the rising contenders anymore. After going on a 13-fight unbeaten streak, Edwards (22-5 MMA, 14-4 UFC) has dropped back-to-back fights – losing his welterweight title to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304, followed by a submission loss to Sean Brady at UFC Fight Night 255 in March. Judging by the dominant nature of his loss to Brady, Machado Garry (16-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) questions Edwards' fighting spirit. "If I was Leon, I would be retiring," Machado Garry told talkSPORT MMA. "He clearly doesn't have the love for it anymore, clearly doesn't have the talent for it against the best young youth in the division. Just kick it in, say you were a world champion and go off into the streets of Birmingham and tell the people the story of what was, not what is." As for his own career, 27-year-old Machado Garry remains confident that he will realize his goal of becoming UFC champion. "It should have come back in UFC 315 in Canada. That's the truth: It should have," Machado Garry said of a title shot. "But they decided to go with a guy who's been out for a year and coming off a broken arm and not being active for a year. But that's up to them as a business, and they can do what they want. All I know is I was present for the world title fight between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena in Canada, and had I fought that night, I would have a belt wrapped around my waist. That's what I fully believe."

Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy arrested in Texas for alleged assault of family member

Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested in Texas on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a family member, according to online jail records. The six-year pro, who spent the majority of his career with the Carolina Panthers, was taken into custody by the Richardson Police Department at around 2 p.m. local time. He was arrested on one charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member, according to jail records. He is currently in police custody. Hardy, 36, was drafted out of Ole Miss in the 6th round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons with the Panthers, but he was placed on the commissioner's exempt list in 2014 while a domestic violence case against him played out. FOX 4 reported that in 2014, Hardy's ex-girlfriend alleged that the NFL player assaulted her during a fit of rage. He was initially convicted of assault, but those charges were later dismissed after the victim in the case failed to appear for a second trial. Despite recording 34 sacks and 203 tackles with the Panthers, the decision not to re-sign Hardy was made. He was then signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent in 2015, but he only played in 12 games that season after being issued a four-game suspension for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy as it related to his case in North Carolina. He was not re-signed the following year. Following his football career, Hardy made his debut in MMA in 2018.
