Panchayat Season 4: Chandan Roy teases a twist, says 'Small things are blown out of proportion'
With the release of Season 4 of the much-loved comedy-drama series ' Panchayat ' just days away, actor Chandan Roy, who plays Vikas Shukla, has offered fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the new season, which premieres on Prime Video on June 24. In a candid interview with ANI , actor Chandan Roy said the upcoming season is his personal favourite and offered a glimpse into the elements that will define the new storyline.' So, it's coming on the 24th. I think it will come till the night of the 23rd. So, just watch, and you'll know what's going to happen and what's not. But yes, I want to share one thing with all of you. Season 4… Personally, it's my favourite. More than Season 1, 2, and 3. I'm not saying this just because I want you to watch it. I'm genuinely saying it,' he said. The actor didn't hesitate to drop hints about what sets the upcoming season apart.' There's a twist. I mean, the nature of Panchayat, its essence, is that this time we're playing around a lot more. We're blowing small things out of proportion, and this is something that happens a lot, especially in North India. Under the peepal tree, near the betel leaf shop, by the tea stall. We're bringing all these elements much more into season 4. So, I hope you will really enjoy it,' he added. For fans of the show, this could mean a return to the quintessential charm of rural India, where the everyday drama unfolds under the shade of trees, at tea stalls, or during community gossip. Season 3 of 'Panchayat' concluded on a tense cliffhanger, and the stakes were raised considerably. The series had built up to a shocking confrontation between the villagers of Phulera and the goons of MLA Chandrakishore. The escalating tension between the two sides culminated in a violent face-off, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting cliffhanger featured an attack on the local leadership, with Pradhanji sustaining a gunshot wound to the shoulder, while Abhishek's preparations for the CAT examination were disrupted by the ensuing violence. The key questions that remained unanswered at the end of Season 3 included: 'Who shot Pradhanji? 'Was it the MLA or someone else? 'Will Abhishek clear his CAT exam and be admitted to IIM?' What will be the outcome of the Panchayat elections? 'Will peace return to Phulera, or will the violence escalate further?' These questions continue to dominate the minds of fans as they await the release of Season 4. Season 4 promises to pick up right from where season 3 left off, delving into the aftermath of the political violence and the unresolved questions surrounding the Panchayat elections. If the teaser trailer is anything to go by, Phulera appears to have turned into a political battleground, with campaign slogans, fiery rallies, and underhanded tactics. The contest for the Pradhan's seat intensifies between Manju Devi and Kranti Devi. The upcoming season will see the return of Jitendra Kumar as Sachiv Ji, alongside Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Sanvikaa, Durgesh Kumar, Sunita Rajwar, and Pankaj Jha–each contributing to the growing political tension in Phulera. Created by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Chandan Kumar, and directed by Mishra along with Akshat Vijaywargiya, the new season promises to bring back the show's signature blend of satire, warmth, and rustic charm.

"I'm in good head space": Rishabh Pant ahead of England Test Series
Leeds [UK], June 18 (ANI): As India prepares to take on England in the highly anticipated five-match Test series starting June 20 in Leeds, vice-captain Rishabh Pant reterirated his commitment to contribute in all departments of the game Pant spoke about his mental readiness and unwavering focus on contributing in all departments. 'Personally, I am in a good head space,' Pant said at the press conference. 'Whenever I play cricket, I look to contribute from my side, be it batting, fielding, or wicketkeeping. That is the kind of thought process with which I play cricket all the time, and nothing changes for me coming to England,' he added. Rishabh Pant announced that he will continue to stick to the number five, while newly-crowned Test captain Shubman Gill will take stalwart Virat Kohli's number four spot in the format. After Virat Kohli's retirement, speculations were making rounds around who would take up the mantle of playing at number four, a spot that the legendary Sachin Tendulkar had held. Recent reports placed Gill as the forerunner, and the rumours turned into reality. A couple of days before the series opener at Headingley, Pant confirmed that the 25-year-old will drop from number three and embrace a new role in the red-ball setup. 'I think there is still discussion going on, who's going to play three, but definitely four and five are fixed. I think Shubman is going to bat at number four, and I am going to stick to number five as of now, and the rest, we are going to keep on discussing that,' Pant said. While playing at number three, Shubman featured in 17 matches and garnered 1,019 runs at 37.74, with three centuries and as many fifties, all coming on home turf. In overseas conditions, Gill has featured in seven Tests and managed just 212 runs at 19.27. Besides captaincy, Gill will have to take the legacy of the number four spot to a new level, considering how Virat and Tendulkar made the position their own. Gill will have some experienced stars around him and Pant serving as his deputy throughout the five Tests. The explosive southpaw believes the camaraderie he shares with Gill off the field and the comfort zone they share will be 'really special.' 'I think Shubman and I have good camaraderie, especially off the field. If you are good friends off the field, it eventually comes on the field. It is better for cricket always, and that is something I have always believed. Me and him gel really well together. The kind of comfort zone we have with each other, I think that will be really special,' he added. India's squad: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana England squad for first Test vs India: Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith (wk), Ben Stokes (capt), Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.
