Steel businessman, wife, daughter & driver killed in car crash on Jhansi-Kanpur highway

Lucknow: Four people, a steel businessman, his wife, their daughter, and the driver, were killed in a high-speed car crash on the Jhansi-Kanpur highway near Khilli village late Wednesday. The businessman's father and three children were seriously injured in the accident and are currently undergoing treatment. The accident occurred when an XUV700 vehicle, travelling at an estimated speed of 80–90 km/h, lost control and rammed into a divider before overturning. The family was returning to Maharashtra after celebrating Bakrid in their hometown Siddharthnagar. The deceased have been identified as Ubaidur Rahman (43), a Maharashtra-based steel businessman, his wife Ashma (40), their daughter Usna Parveen (15), and their driver Amir (45). According to eyewitnesses, the impact was so severe that the vehicle was crushed, leaving all eight occupants trapped inside. Local residents, alerted by the cries for help, rushed to the spot and attempted to rescue the family. Driver Amir was found critically wedged between the steering wheel and bonnet. Despite frantic efforts and the arrival of a JCB machine to break open the car, Amir succumbed after nearly an hour of being trapped. Meanwhile, the injured — Ubaidur's father Shahbuddin (70), sons Abdullah Bahadur Rahman (10) and Aneedur Rahman (8), and daughter Eshya (6) — were rushed to a nearby Community Health Centre (CHC). Their condition is stated to be serious but stable. The bodies of the deceased were kept at the hospital morgue awaiting the arrival of family members. SP, Jhansi, BBGTS Murthy, said that preliminary investigations suggest the accident may have been caused by driver's fatigue. Ubaidur's friend Mahbulla, who was travelling in a separate vehicle towards Mumbai, said, "I was ahead of them in my car. I suspect the driver might have dozed off. I've informed the family — they're on their way." Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Cops arrest 41, seize bomb raw materials

1 2 3 4 Kolkata: Forty-one people were arrested and a large amount of explosives were seized on Thursday, a day after the Maheshtala violence, in which 15 cops were injured, 10 from Kolkata Police and the rest from Bengal Police. While police imposed prohibitory orders in the area, they reached out to community elders, seeking to initiate confidence-building steps. With indications of "planning" involving "outsiders", police said on Thursday they were geared up for quick interventions amid inputs of a possible repetition of Wednesday's template as the 2026 assembly polls drew near. The modus operandi, they claimed, would be to "carry out a sudden act of instigation". "The aim is to instigate a community or locality and amplify it. External sources will be used," an officer. The explosives recovered were a pointer at the "intent and planning". "Around 8.45 pm on Wednesday, police recovered large amounts of sodium powder, 10 kg aluminium powder, phosphorus dust, red sulphur and iron dust, usually used to make bombs," said SP (Diamond Harbour police district) Rahul Goswami. We will see if cops were negligent as the incident took place near a police station. We will take action if we find the role of any Muslim fanatic —irrespective of political affiliation. The third focus is on Hindu fanatics, trying to flare up the issue." Bengal Police registered three cases and arrested 29 people. Kolkata Police filed four cases and arrested 12. Multiple raids are on in the port area, Maheshtala and Budge Budge. "The situation is now peaceful. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Rabindra Nagar PS area, where members of political parties are advised not to visit. We urge all to keep calm and ignore rumours. Those trying to cause unrest will be dealt with," said ADG (law & order) Jawed Shamim. "The cases at Nadial were based on complaints of injured cops. 12 men accused of murder during 2020 riots acquitted

New Delhi: A court acquitted 12 people accused of killing a youth during the 2020 riots in northeast Delhi, citing a lack of evidence and contradictions in the statements of witnesses. The court of additional sessions judge Pulastya Pramachala said on June 5 that the investigating agency failed to prove the charges of murder, rioting, criminal conspiracy to murder and destruction of evidence against the accused. According to the prosecution, 12 men who were part of a rioting mob on Feb 25, 2020, killed Aas Mohammad and threw him in the drain at Bhagirathi Vihar/Johripur pulia. He was coming on foot from the Loni border side in Ghaziabad. The chargesheet was filed on the charges of murder along with rioting, arson, criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between different religious groups and statements conducing to public mischief under Indian Penal Code. The prosecution also alleged that as per the chats of a WhatsApp group, the accused and their associates conspired to teach Muslims a lesson for attacking the Hindus. They equipped themselves with lathis, dandas, sticks, etc., by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? The court gave the benefit of doubt to all accused. "In the absence of some concrete evidence laying down the foundation, no presumption can be raised that some persons identified as part of some mob at some place at some other time period would also have been part of a mob, and such mob was involved in the incident of murder of Aas Mohammad," the judge noted in the 62-page judgment. The acquitted people are Lokesh Kumar Solanki, Pankaj Sharma, Sumit Chaudhary, Ankit Chaudhary, Prince, Rishabh Chaudhary, Jatin Sharma, Vivek Panchal, Himanshu Thakur, Tinku Arora, Sandeep Thakur and Sahil alias Babu. However, the court convicted Solanki of promoting enmity, doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony and statements conducing to public mischief for inciting communal violence during the riots. "Accused Lokesh was a member of this group since the beginning. Some of the messages posted by him in this group are already reproduced in this judgment. I have gone through the messages posted in this group by different members. As the name suggests, the central focus of messages in this group has been to unite the persons from the Hindu community. However, on that pretext, messages started pouring in to the effect of abusing the Muslims. Messages were posted to call upon the members to assemble together, so as to counter the Muslims," the judge said. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
