Two killed in safety valve incident at BAPCO Refining plant in Bahrain, 3rd person injured

DUBAI: Two workers have been killed in an incident at one of the Bahrain Petroleum Company's (BAPCO) units, the country's Ministry of Interior confirmed in a post on X.com.
Members of the Bahraini civil defense, working in cooperation with Bapco's emergency teams, dealt with the leakage the post explained.

The Bahrain News Agency later reported that BAPCO Refining had confirmed that all precautionary measures had been taken regarding the leak that happened on Friday morning in a safety valve in one of BAPCO Refining's units.
The statement added that the situation was under full control, the leak has been stopped and work had resumed.
The statement added that Bapco expressed its 'sincere condolences, sympathy, and support' to the families of the two employees who died.
The national ambulance service transferred a third person who was injured to the hospital for treatment.

These security operations resulted in the seizure of 2,756,806 amphetamine tablets, 1,944,230 tablets subject to medical circulation regulations, four tons of hashish, and 180 tons of khat. In connection with these seizures, 2,411 individuals were arrested, and they include 1,518 Ethiopian nationals; 842 Yemenis; seven Sudanese; six Eritreans; three Somalis; two Pakistanis, and 33 Saudi citizens. This comes as part of the Ministry of Interior's anti-drug mission and its efforts to monitor drug smuggling and trafficking activities that target the security of the Kingdom and its youth. The ministry urged all citizens and residents to report any information related to drug smuggling or promotion. Reports can be made by calling over the number 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province or the number 999 in other regions. Reports can be made via the General Directorate of Border Guard's number 994, the General Directorate of Narcotics Control's number 995, or by emailing 995@ All reports will be treated with complete confidentiality, the ministry said.

Gulf Air Plane Lands Safely at Kuwait Airport after Hoax Bomb Threat

Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Sunday that a Gulf Air plane made a safe landing at Kuwait International Airport after a hoax bomb threat. In a press statement, DGCA spokesman Abdullah Al-Rajhi said that while the Bahraini plane was flying to Kuwait on its scheduled flight, a bomb was reported to have been on board, adding the report was handled immediately in line with relevant security procedures and protocols at Kuwait International Airport. According to Al-Rajhi, in full collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities, and in the presence of DGCA Chairman Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, the aircraft landed safely at the airport and all passengers disembarked from the plane. He confirmed that all passengers are safe and no flights have been affected, noting that the man behind the hoax bomb threat was arrested.

Saudi Arabia deports 9,215 illegal residents in a week

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi security forces have arrested a total of 11,657 illegal residents during the last week. The arrests were made during the joint inspections, carried out by the security forces in collaboration with the relevant government agencies, during the period between May 29 and June 4, the Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday. Those who were arrested included 6,981 violators of the Residency Law, 3,190 violators of the Border Security Law, and 1,486 violators of the Labor Law. The ministry said that a total of 9,215 violators were deported while 12,122 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents and 1,435 violators were referred to complete their travel reservations. A total of 17,018 illegal residents, including 15,991 men and 1,027 women, are currently undergoing various phases of legal procedures as part of punitive measures against them. The Ministry of Interior has warned that any person, who facilitates the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom, transports them on its territory, provides them with shelter or any other assistance or service may be penalized with up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million, and that the vehicles used for transportation or houses used for giving shelter will be confiscated. The ministry urged the public to report any cases of violation by calling the number 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province and the numbers 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom's regions.
