Delineation Between Putrajaya, Selangor To Be Finalised By Year End
SHAH ALAM, May 27 (Bernama) -- The delineation exercise between Putrajaya and Selangor is nearly completed and is expected to be finalised by the end of this year, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
"So far, the delineation process in Putrajaya is nearly completed (involving) areas such as Sepang and Kuala Langat, while areas (near) Kuala Lumpur like Ampang, Petaling Jaya and Subang will take a little more time because it involves more a complex delineation exercise,' he said after officiating the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) Teacher's Day celebration here today.
He was commenting on a meeting between a delegation led by him and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa at Menara Seri Wilayah, Putrajaya yesterday.
At the meeting, Dr Zaliha raised the issue of resolving the delineation between Kuala Lumpur and Selangor as well as Putrajaya and Selangor to ensure a more integrated border enforcement could be carried out.
Amirudin said that at the meeting, the Selangor government requested that 10 per cent of an Islamic cemetery land area in Hulu Semenyih, Selangor, which is owned by the Federal Lands Commissioner (PTP), be opened up for local residents who wish to be buried there.
He hopes that this effort will resolve cemetery land management issues under the administration of the Federal Government but located near Selangor residential areas.
Yesterday, Dr Zaliha said the opening of a new Islamic cemetery in Hulu Semenyih could meet the need for Muslim cemeteries in Kuala Lumpur for another 28 years.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said the proposal to raise the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65 is still at the preliminary stage, adding that the matter needs to be further scrutinised.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said had previously proposed that the government consider raising the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65.

Putrajaya Tasks amir Hamzah To Handle follow-up On woodlands Land Acquisition
PUTRAJAYA, June 5 (Bernama) -- Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has been tasked with taking further action following the announcement by Singaporean authorities regarding the acquisition of two plots of land owned by the Malaysian government in Woodlands. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was discussed during today's Cabinet meeting following media reports yesterday about the actions of the republic's authorities. 'The Cabinet discussed this issue, and the Finance Minister II has been assigned to undertake several follow-up actions,' he said at a weekly press conference here today. Yesterday, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) announced plans to acquire two plots of land owned by the Malaysian government for the redevelopment and expansion of the Woodlands Checkpoint (WCP). In a joint statement, the SLA and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the two plots, with a total area of about 0.79 hectares, are located near the central area of the redevelopment site and will be acquired by the Singapore government. According to the statement, both plots are overgrown and unused. The SLA and ICA said they will work closely with the Malaysian government throughout the acquisition process. In another development, Fahmi said the issue of drone mobility is being followed up by the Transport Ministry (MoT) to formulate clearer policies and guidelines on their use. He said the matter was raised by Transport Minister Anthony Loke during today's Cabinet meeting.

Amirudin moots Selangor Rail project to boost aerospace development
SEPANG: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has mooted the idea of the proposed Selangor Rail project to complement the Selangor Aero Park (SAP). Amirudin in his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of SAP said the proposed rail network is the missing link that would connect key infrastructure and unlock the full potential of the state's aerospace development. "The proposed rail line, initially presented to the Transport Ministry several months ago, would serve to integrate the state's industrial zones, communities, and major transport hubs across Selangor and the Klang Valley. "Moving forward, if we are able to realise the full potential of SAP, there is one missing link which can join the dotted lines to connect industry, people, and the major transport infrastructure in Selangor and the Klang Valley, and that is the Selangor Rail. "It would connect Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Subang Airport, the existing seaports in Port Klang, and the upcoming third port in Carey Island, subject to the approval of the federal government," he said. Amirudin also said that despite the financial complexities involved, Selangor is ready to extend its full intellectual and technical support to turn the proposal into reality. In February, Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the proposed 210km rail line is expected to take 10 years to complete once it receives the go-ahead from the government. Ng also said that the proposed line could reduce travel time by an hour for those travelling from Sabak Bernam to KLIA as compared to those travelling by road.
