The Jia Le Xin 3 Socket USB Hub sold through TikTok has been urgently recalled due to an electric shock risk
Credit: Gov.uk
The Jia Le Xin 3 Socket USB Hub has a "serious risk" of giving users an electric shock as it has a "noncompliant plug", according to the recall notice filed with the Office for Product Safety and Standards.
Sold on TikTok, the bottom two pins on the item's plug are less than 9.55mm away from its edge, which is "less than the minimum permissible distance".
This means that if users plug in the device without the pins fully entering the socket, they could be at risk of an electric shock if they try to remove the plug by using their fingers close to the base of the pins.
The notice explained that since the product did not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994, it had been recalled.
TikTok has said it has also removed the listing of the product from its online marketplace.
The specific product affected has a barcode of 6952640500010, product number F001U, and was made in China.
It is described as a Black USB hub with space for three sockets.
The recall notice states: "The product presents a serious risk of electric shock because it is supplied with a noncompliant plug.
"The bottom two pins are less than 9.5mm from the periphery of the plug, less than the minimum permissible distance.
"If the user plugs in the device without the pins fully entering the socket, and they then try to remove the plug by placing their fingers close to the base of the pins, they may receive an electric shock."
'Fecal contaminated' butter recalled with millions of shoppers urged to check label – it was sold at Walmart
The notice added: "The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994."
This comes as an investigation found popular money gadgets were still being sold online despite them being subject to multiple government recalls.
So-called energy saving eco plugs have appealed to Brits desperate to keep spiralling bills down.
These scam plugs claim to save households money on their electricity by "stabilising" voltage and "balancing" electric current to "optimise" the performance of household appliances.
However, Which? tested eight such devices bought from AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, Shein, Temu and TikTok Shop and found they failed basic electrical safety standards, meaning they are illegal and potentially dangerous.
The consumer watchdog said the platforms all removed the listings it reported to them, but many identical-looking devices were still available to buy weeks later.
Popular hair brush is urgently recalled in UK over 'high risk of electric shock' – as shoppers warned 'stop using NOW'
AN URGENT recall has been issued over a popular hair brush that poses a "high risk of electric shock
Shoppers have been warned to "stop using this product immediately" and to "safely dispose of it."
The TP-5+1 Hot Air Styler sold via Wowcher is being urgently recalled over electric shock risks.
It happens to be supplied with a three-pin "clover" style unfused plug.
Unfused plugs pose a fire risk in the UK due to their dimensions.
This means its possible for users to touch the live pin when plugging in or unplugging it from the socket.
For this reason, the product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Shoppers have been advised to stop using the product immediately and dispose of it.
In 2022, researchers tested near-identical devices from Amazon and eBay twice and reported them to the platforms, which then delisted them.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards officially recalled four similar devices on AliExpress, eBay and Wish the same year, citing a "serious risk of fire and electric shock".
One device Which? said was available on AliExpress claimed to "reduce" line loss and "improve" power factor, with around 260 buyers.
Another sold via eBay by a third party seller claimed to use 'a capacitor system to store electrical energy, allowing it to be released more smoothly'.
The one sold on Shein was branded as a 'Magic Electricity-Saving Box'.
Experts at Which? found that the items they tested had poor quality soldering, contained too much lead - which is tightly regulated due to potential health side effects - and had unmarked non-standard capacitors indicating they were not manufactured in the UK and therefore potentially unsafe.

Dog owner with six pets shares 10 things every owner needs - and one is 'lifesaver'
From grooming products to items that will make your home cleaner, these are the essentials every pet parent needs. An American dog lover with a pack of six has shared her top ten must-haves for fellow canine carers. Owning a pet, particularly a dog, requires dedication and thoughtfulness to ensure they lead a happy life, encompassing everything from basic needs like sustenance to enrichment items such as playthings. Regular walks are part of the routine for many dog owners to ensure their furry friends get the exercise they need. Typically, dog owners equip themselves with essentials like leads and collars to maintain control over their pets in public spaces, including parks. It's common for them to also invest in food and water dishes, comfortable bedding, and grooming necessities like shampoos, clippers, and brushes. Tracy Fosterling from Jacksonville, Florida, not only has six dogs and two cats but also champions dog fostering. She's an avid "rescue advocate" and utilises social media platforms to document her experiences as a foster dog mother, inspiring others to take up fostering, reports the Express. In a bid to assist other dog parents, she uploaded a TikTok video stating: "Here are the ten things that every dog parent needs, let's go. And this is coming from someone who has six dogs. I use all of these things, none of it is sponsored, they're just lifesavers." 1. Mudbuster Tracy mentioned that it "cleans up perfectly." The product description on Amazon reveals that the Mudbuster uses soft silicone bristles to effectively cleanse dirt and mud from a dog's paws. 2. K.O.E cleaner "It's amazing and this bottle will last forever." K.O.E., which stands for Kennel Odor Eliminator, is designed to eliminate smells from cages, kennels, floors, tables, walls and other large areas. 3. Good de-shedder She commented: "It's amazing. I swipe it through my dogs once and a huge clump of hair comes out." The foster dog mum revealed that she tries to brush her dogs with this product every day. 4. Dental water additive The additive aids in reducing plaque and giving dogs fresher breath. It serves as an easy method to enhance dogs' oral hygiene. 5. Slow feeders "I absolutely love slow feeders." Slow feeders make it more challenging for dogs to get their food, providing enrichment. 6. Air purifiers Tracy disclosed that she has air purifiers in her bedroom and all the main areas of her house. Air purifiers clean and filter the air in a room by removing airborne particles, pollutants and allergens. 7. Snout Soother "This is for dry skin on dogs, on their nose, on their feet." The dog parent said she applies Snout Soother on areas of her dogs that are dry or red, and it "works really well." 8. Handheld vacuum She described it as a "lifesaver" as she uses it constantly. Handheld vacuums are perfect for cleaning hard-to-reach areas. 9. Mr. Sticky "You just clean it with water and roll it and obviously, I used mine recently and it's full." The Mr. Sticky rollers can be utilised to remove pet hair from surfaces, like walls and floors. 10. Patience It's crucial to exercise patience when training a dog and managing their behaviour. This not only builds trust but also fosters positive relationships between dogs and their owners.

The 3 hidden iPhone settings that are draining your battery & the quick fixes to make that will save you hundreds
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IPHONE users have been warned that there are three hidden buttons that are drastically reducing your devices battery life. Mobile batteries are known for getting worse over time - in worst case scenarios, users have to carry portable chargers around and give their gadgets battery boosts throughout the day. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 iPhone batteries dwindle over time, but there are three simple fixes you can do to improve battery health Credit: Getty This can be incredibly stressful for users, who might need Google Maps to get home or send an urgent text to a family member. However, even if your device is a few years old, you shouldn't need to replace it just because the battery life has dwindled. Instead, you should be able to improve its ability to hold charge with just a few simple clicks. 1. Turn Off Widgets The widgets on iPhone lock screens, such as the weather or calendar updates, all run in the background and are constantly using data to keep them updated. This means that they are draining power, even when you are not using your phone. Turning off your widgets completely is the best way to save power, and the easiest way to do this is to switch to another lock screen, that doesn't have any widgets on it. 4 Click on your lock screen and then press 'customise' to remove widgets Credit: Supplied To do this, simply press your finger down on your existing lock screen, and then scroll across to a lock screen that doesn't have any widgets. Or, if you want to remove the widgets from your existing lock screen, you can hold it down, click on customise, tap on the widget box, and then delete any widgets that you don't want. Reduce The Motion Of Your iPhone User Interface The iPhone user interface uses animations, such as the pop of colour that appears when you activate Siri and the 'slam' effect that makes text messages seem to pop out of the screen. Whilst these can be fun and entertaining, they are very draining for your battery. 'Supersonic' new battery fully charges phones in less than five minutes & users cry out to have that 'insane speed' now If you want subtler animations, that use less power, you can use this by heading to Settings, clicking to Accessibility and then Motion and Reduce Motion. 4 Click on 'reduce motion' to improve your battery life Credit: Supplied Switch Off Keyboard Vibration iPhones have a feature called "haptic feedback" which gives each key a vibration. This feature was added to iOS 16 to give users a more immersive experience. However, according to the Apple support page it "might affect the battery life of your phone." 4 Turning off haptic feedback helps to conserve battery Credit: Supplied Apple does not explain why this drains battery, but its best to turn this feature off if you're keen to conserve your battery. Haptic feedback is not enabled by default, but if you have turned it on, you can easily disable the feature. iPhone tricks to try today Here are some of the best... Instead, head to the Apple store, and you can replace your iPhone battery for a much cheaper cost.

Cover ugly walls or fences with a beautiful, fast-growing flower – it also adds privacy to your garden
IF your garden has an ugly wall or fence that needs brightening up, there's one flower for the job. You can cover the eyesore and help to elevate your garden's privacy in one go. 2 Gardening experts recommend adding a flower to your garden walls and fences (stock image) Credit: Getty The experts at Gardener's World named the best plant for the job, and detailed how to grow and prune it. They recommended adding trumpet vines, officially known as Campsis, to your walls and fences. The deciduous woody climbers feature red, orange, or yellow tubular flowers that bloom from late summer through to autumn. Give these plants a large space to grow, ideally on a south-facing wall or a pergola in direct sunlight. They will quickly cover a framework, but experts advise annual pruning to control growth. Trumpet vines are known to cause skin irritation, so always wear gloves when handling. Plant these vines against a large wall or fence, or you can train them up a trellis or pergola, They can also be grown in large pots placed in a warm sheltered spot against a wall or fence. While they are frost hardy, they thrive in warmer conditions, with full sunlight helping to ripen the new wood. This improves hardiness and promotes prolific flowering, with the plants often growing to 12 metres with wall support. I transformed my garden patio into summer haven for less than £100 with cheap B&M buys including gadget to keep bugs out They are ideal for adding privacy to your space and can spread for up to four metrese in width. But be warned, trumpet vines can be invasive so be sure to grow them in containers to help restrict their spread. TikTok garden pro Michael (@themediterraneangardener) also recommended the climbing plant for quick coverage of walls and fences. He described the flower as "fast-growing", explaining "it will quickly cover a wall or a fence". Trumpet vines are best planted in spring or early autumn and need to be watered thoroughly. How to create privacy in your garden CREATING privacy in your garden can be achieved in a number of ways depending on your budget, and the size of your space. Here are some effective ways to enhance privacy in your garden: 1. Fencing Install a tall, solid wooden or vinyl fence. This is one of the most straightforward ways to gain immediate privacy. Or use lattice panels, trellis, or slatted fencing to add a decorative touch while still offering privacy. 2. Hedges and Plants Fast-growing evergreen shrubs or trees like Leylandii, Thuja, or Bamboo along the boundary of your garden can help with privacy. Grow a dense hedge using plants like Boxwood, Privet, or Laurel. It may take time to grow, but it provides a natural and green privacy screen. Use climbers like Ivy, Clematis, or Wisteria on fences or trellises to create a lush, green privacy barrier. 3. Outdoor Curtains Hang outdoor curtains around pergolas, gazebos, or patios for an easy-to-adjust privacy solution. 4. Sound Barriers A water fountain or small waterfall can help drown out noise, adding to the sense of privacy. Or install fencing designed to reduce noise if privacy from sound is also a concern. For the best results, mix organic matter such as garden compost into the planting area. Dig a hole at least twice as wide as the pot and around the same depth. This should be placed approximately 45 centimetres from the base of the wall or fence. Loosen the soil at the edges of the hole and remove the plant from its pot, teasing out the roots. Place the vines in the hole levelling the top of the rootball with the soil. Then refill the hole and gently firm the soil around the plant, removing any air pockets. As well as watering the plant, you should mulch with compost or chipped bark. You can also tie the shoots into supports to start training the vine.
