And they could use the sale of Cyriel Dessers to help fund the move.
Reports claim the Nigerian hitman has agreed a £30,000-a-week deal with AEK Athens.
The Greek giants held initial discussions with the Ibrox side earlier this week and they now believe they finally have their man.
Dessers joined Gers in a £3m move from Cremonese two years ago.
And despite netting 51 goals in 109 games he remains a divisive figure among the Gers support.
AEK are willing to offer him a fresh start in the Greek capital, with Dessers sold on the move.
Rangers' new American owners are set to demand £5m for his services, with AEK willing to spend big to land their man.
A fee has yet to be agreed.
Robin Propper is another player edging ever closer to an Ibrox exit.
It's understood a verbal deal with FC Twente is in place that would see the Dutch defender return home after a single season in Glasgow.
Rangers fans react to news Russell Martin is their new manager
Twente are prepared to pay £1m for their former skipper, who will hold talks with new Gers gaffer Martin to determine his future.
It's expected Propper will be given the green light to head back to Holland.
US owner Andrew Cavenagh and his San Francisco 49ers backers have vowed to inject £20m of additional funds into the Ibrox coffers.
Last week, CEO Patrick Stewart vowed a 'decent amount' would be ring fenced for recruitment.
Leicester City defender Conor Coady remains a target as Martin bids to bolster Gers' backline.
And the Ibrox side remain very much in the hunt for £4m-rated Israeli striker Dor Turgeman.
Talks with Maccabi Tel Aviv are ongoing as Gers seek to pair him with Frigan next season.
Reports in Croatia claim the Light Blues are leading the race for the 22-year-old striker, with HSV and Hull City also showing an interest.

Cyriel Dessers Rangers transfer exit splits the Jury as Celtic urged caution over Evan Ferguson

Cyriel Dessers has agreed a deal with AEK - but should Ibrox chiefs really consider selling a striker who has fired 50 goals in his two years in Glasgow? ANDREW NEWPORT: If the fee is big enough then of course. Rangers have let far too much money slip through their fingers by failing to sell when the price is right. Dessers scores plenty - but misses more. He's 30 and his value will only decline from here. SCOTT MCDERMOTT: Only if the price is right. I'd keep Dessers to be second choice striker at Ibrox because of his excellent goal return. But he's 30 years old and is a high earner so if Rangers can make a profit on him with a sale of around £4million they have to consider it. MICHAEL GANNON: If Rangers can make a profit then it's worth taking the dosh. Dessers is on top dollar and he has delivered goals. He's still unreliable in big games, on big money and the wrong side of 30. Take the dosh and invest it. Is Ireland ace and rumoured Celtic target Evan Ferguson a better bet than countryman Adam Idah to lead the line for Brendan Rodgers' team? ANDY: He looked a proper prospect when he burst onto the scene with a hat-trick against Newcastle a couple of years back but he's only scored three goals since November 2023. Idah isn't the finish product either but at least he's been a regular contributor for Celtic. SCOTT: With both players playing at their best, I think Ferguson is a better striker. He has more natural ability, as well as being a powerhouse up front. But he's toiled for two years now in the Premier League and Rodgers sees real potential and development in Idah. MICHAEL: The Ferguson of 12 months ago would have been a good option but it's more uncertain now after a poor season. A loan deal late in the window could be an option but Celtic should be looking at cheaper targets before then. Ian Maxwell has shelved contract talks with Steve Clarke while the Scotland boss focuses on turning around his team's worrying form - but should Clarke stay on even if he leads the nation to the World Cup? ANDY: Maxxy is right to put negotiations on hold as breaking our World Cup duck is all that matters. If Clarke can do that job he'll get the keys to Scotland, never mind a new deal. SCOTT: If he gets us to the World Cup, that will solely be Clarke's decision because of course the SFA would want to keep him on after reaching three major tournaments. But with current form, the question is - will he still be in charge by the end of the campaign if it goes pear-shaped in Copenhagen? MICHAEL: Clarke has earned the right to do what he wants. If he leads the nation to the World Cup, he can do what he likes, even if he might be tempted to walk away on a high. Motherwell have gone foreign again after appointing Jens Berthel Askou as Michael Wimmer's replacement - but should they have looked closer to home? ANDY: You might have thought they'd have had second thoughts about going down that route given the way Wimmer left them in the lurch. But the German did a decent job in his short time and Fir Park and Well bosses will hope Askou can pick up where his predecessor left off. If he doesn't, a Robbie Neilson or Tony Docherty should be their next call. SCOTT: We don't know enough about Berthel Askou yet to make a judgement. But for what Motherwell wants to achieve in the Scottish Premiership, it's hard to not to feel that a manager like Robbie Neilson or Tony Docherty couldn't have done an excellent job there.

Russell Martin needs to build Rangers revolution around Ibrox 'work horse' who is the exact type he will want in his side

Nico Raskin has been making waves with the superstars of Belgium and Kyle Lafferty says he is a must keep in Govan He's now mixing it with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku for Belgium. And that's got Rangers fans wondering whether it might be a good time to cash in on Nico Raskin. ‌ That will be up to new gaffer Russell Martin and the Ibrox hierarchy should big bids come in for the 24-year-old midfielder this summer. ‌ But former Gers striker Kyle Lafferty is having none of it. Instead of selling off their prized asset, the Northern Irishman says Martin should be building a new-look side around him. Lafferty spent three years with the Rangers manager at Norwich City where Martin was skipper. And if he's got one piece of advice to his ex-team-mate, it's to do everything in his power to keep Raskin in Glasgow. Lafferty is excited about what Martin can achieve at Ibrox if he's given the right tools to work with. He believes that to implement his trademark style of play at Gers, he'll need the Belgian's dynamism in the engine room. ‌ Lafferty said: 'Some of the players who are already at Rangers are outstanding and Russell will do well to hold on to them. 'Raskin falls into that category. For me, he's one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership so keeping him is a must - especially the way Russ wants to play. 'We have to keep Raskin at Ibrox but it's going to be hard because of how well he's performed recently. ‌ 'There will be teams in for him after making his international debut for Belgium. That's been massive for him. 'But Russ should be looking to build the team around him. 'Raskin is a work-horse and exactly the type Russ will want at Rangers. ‌ 'The team will press high up the park and Raskin can do that. 'If we keep him and add a few more quality players, it's going to be an exciting season for the club. 'Russ will have to sign players because we don't have the depth of quality in the squad to go and win trophies at the moment. ‌ 'But Russ will have a few names already who he wants. 'And if he gets the backing, I think it can be a pretty good season for Rangers.' ‌ When Philippe Clement was sacked at Ibrox and the manager's job became available - Lafferty was torn between two men he knows well. He either wanted to get his old gaffer, Steven Gerrard back at Ibrox. Or give Norwich pal Martin a shot at restoring to the club to its former glories. He feels Rangers lost their identity under Clement and is convinced they'll get their DNA back under Martin. ‌ Lafferty said: 'I'll be honest, I had my heart set on either getting Steven back - or Russell getting the job. 'What Gerrard did at the club was incredible. From the day he arrived until he left - it was night and day. 'He got us out of the hole we were in and eventually won the title. ‌ 'But with Russ, he'll bring new ideas and a freshness. At Southampton, he exceeded expectations. 'I don't think many people thought he'd get them promoted to the Premier League when he took over. And he did it with a clear style of play. 'If the Rangers board backs him, I think we've appointed the right person. ‌ 'When Clement arrived he didn't know anything about the Scottish league. I don't think he realised how big Rangers or the fanbase is. 'When that's the case, it affects you - whether you're a player or manager. 'Because you're suddenly hit with this wave of support and expectation. And they might not be able to handle it. ‌ 'At Rangers, you need to win every game and get trophies. 'I don't think Clement had a clear game-plan or style of play. That's one of the things Russell will definitely bring. 'He will only be looking for the type of player who can strengthen the club and fit his style. ‌ 'Rangers will have a real DNA now under Russ. And he knows what the club means because he's been there as a player. 'The fans' expectations won't affect him because he's felt it before. I think he'll do really well.' ‌ Lafferty got close to Martin at Norwich a decade ago along with another former Ibrox star, Steven Whittaker. The new Rangers boss was the Carrow Road captain who led by example. And even when he did things a bit differently, Lafferty admired his humility. ‌ That's why he's delighted that he's ended up in charge of his boyhood club. Lafferty said: 'I got on really well with Russ at Norwich. We had a wee tight group, which included the two of us, Whitts and Wes Hoolahan. 'Russ has been a captain at almost every club he's played for. That says it all about his leadership qualities. ‌ 'He's a guy who will always look to help you whenever he can. A lot has been said about his Buddhism and other stuff. 'And obviously in a dressing-room there's a lot of banter flying around. 'But at Norwich, if he did something which he thought might affect people, he'd come and apologise. 'He didn't have to but that's just the type of person he is. He's a gentleman. I'm really glad he's now in the hot seat at the club I support.'

I tried an angelic café in North Wales city centre and found a little taste of heaven

Heaven Coffee Shop on Lord Street has become very popular with visitors to Wrexham, since Adam and Malgorzata took over the cafe in 2018. Adam and Malgorzata moved to the UK in 2004 and started their new life together in Wrexham. Malgorzata used to work at the former Lord Street Café and enjoyed it so much, that they made the decision to take over and open the café doors as 'Heaven Coffee Shop'. The café is near the arc sculpture landmark on Lord Street. The statue portrays a miner and a steelworker on brick plinths, feet astride two steel arcs. They are at full stretch, each trying to bend the arc to meet at the top. The statue represents the toil and collectiveness of manual work. With the closures of the mines, these self-sufficient communities had to find a new role in the world. Wrexham has seen a lot of cafes and pubs open up via the leisure industry in the last few years and there are a lot of food and drink options in the area. In 2021, the café was doing so well that they took over the lease of the shop next door to give 'Heaven' more space. Yes, you will always need a bit more space in heaven. This heavenly coffee shop was really busy when we popped in through its pearly gates for a bite to eat. The owners were chatting and hugging a few returning locals, giving the place, a close community feel. Adam and Malgorzata have created a small friendly vibe so that people feel comfortable. They have even added a children's corner, which has been a popular hit with parents. This homely feeling spills out into Lord Street, with outdoor seating areas amid colourful potted plants. The plant theme continues inside the café, with greenery on light fittings with hanging plants draped all over the walls. We chose a spot near the window, the perfect place to people-watch whilst perusing the menu. The coffee shop seems to offer light snacks such as jacket potatoes, sandwiches and sweet and savoury crepes. The dessert menu looked fabulous with sweet waffles and American style pancakes with ingredients such as Nutella, Tutti Frutti and Haribo. No wonder families with children like this place so much. There are a lot of affordable 'meal deals' such as two burgers for £19,99 and all- day breakfasts starting from a small breakfast for £5.50, a large for £7.50 or a big monster fry up, which included three sausages and all the works for £11.50. There were plenty of veggie or vegan options available as well. Of course, the coffee shop has a vast array of drink options such as white-hot chocolate, the usual coffee options along with milkshakes and bubble tea. There was even good old 'Wrexham Lager' on draft behind the counter, if you fancied something a little bit stronger. We decided to take the two paninis for £12 offer as it seemed really good value. I went with one of my favourite simple fillings of brie and cranberry, whilst my wife went for a chicken, cheese, pesto and red onion version. The seared grill marks on the outside of Italian bread, opened up to reveal a gorgeous messy melted cheese. The gooey brie was topped with a tart cranberry sauce, with the toasted bread giving off a satisfying crunch. The Panini was well presented on bakery decorated greaseproof paper with cucumber, tomato and lettuce leaf on the side. My wife enjoyed the contrast of the strong red onion alongside the tang of the pesto and succulent chicken. Her hot-pressed sandwich was accompanied by a small side salad, which had a dark balsamic glaze squeezed artistically over the top. I ordered a super nutritious banana and strawberry smoothie for my drink option, which was thick, fresh and really refreshing. I sipped it slowly through a straw, as we watched the world, slowly drift by outside. My wife washed her tasty chicken panini down with a simple americano with hot milk. When I went over to pay the bill at the counter, I saw some heavenly and devilish looking cakes, such as red velvet, caramel cheesecake and some absolutely huge boulder scones packed with fruit and raisins. We somehow managed not to fall into temptation, but I was thinking about those lovely looking cakes all the way, on my journey home. It's no wonder that the angelic cafe is so busy, with high ratings from the loyal customer congregation, who keep returning for a little taste of heaven on Lord Street. The Facts Price - Panini offer £12, americano £2.50 and smoothie £3.99. The total price of the meal was £18.49 Atmosphere - Community family friendly vibe Car Parking- The island green car park is probably the nearest Service - Order at the counter but try not to look at the cakes
