No medical equipment allowed into Gaza since start of war

The Director-General of Hospitals in the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Mohammed Zaqout, confirmed that Israel has not allowed the entry of any medical equipment, including X-ray machines, into the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war from October 7, 2023.
Zaqout stressed in press statements that Israel has not adhered to the humanitarian protocol despite the ceasefire last January.
'No important medical equipment has been allowed into the Strip, except for some medical supplies and missions whose benefit does not exceed 60 percent,' he explained.
During their storming of the Strip's hospitals, Israel's forces have also destroyed all MRI machines and medical tomography devices, Zagout said, which are essential for diagnosis and medical follow-up of patients.
Israel's occupying forces have destroyed 34 hospitals out of 38 in Gaza during the war on Gaza and put them out of service through 520 raids targeting the hospitals, according to the Ministry of Health.
The World Health Organization (WHO) representative in the Palestinian territories, Rick Peeperkorn, said in a previous statement that the health sector in Gaza suffered losses of about 6.3 billion dollars, with its total needs to reach over seven billion dollars divided between reconstruction costs and service delivery needs.
For the 11th day in a row, Israel continues to close crossings, prevent the entry of humanitarian and relief aid into the Strip, and tighten the siege on all supplies, including food and fuel, after the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
This closure comes at a time when the residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from catastrophic humanitarian conditions due to the shortage of food, medicine, and basic needs during the month of Ramadan.

Egypt's Health, Agriculture Ministries denies rumors of poultry epidemic

CAIRO – 29 May 2025: In a joint statement, the Ministries of Health and Population and Agriculture and Land Reclamation denied recent 'rumors' circulating on social media regarding a viral epidemic affecting poultry that would make them unsafe to eat, approach, or handle. The statement confirmed that the epidemiological situation in poultry farms remains stable, according to nationwide survey reports. It emphasized that all preventive measures and surveillance systems are functioning effectively to mitigate any potential health risks. The ministries continue to coordinate closely to monitor zoonotic diseases—those transmissible between animals and humans. The Ministry of Health has intensified monitoring through its National Infectious Disease Surveillance Program and the event-based surveillance system, which tracks and investigates health events that may affect public health. These mechanisms ensure rapid detection and response, in coordination with other government bodies. Since the beginning of 2025, the Ministry's event-based system has processed over 100,000 reported cases, all of which have been verified and addressed by the appropriate health authorities. About 3,500 of these cases were referred to the Veterinary Department at the Ministry of Agriculture for investigation. Importantly, no confirmed cases of the alleged poultry virus mentioned in recent online rumors have been recorded. Preventive teams are actively conducting field investigations—especially near poultry farms and markets—under the guidance of the Preventive Medicine Sector and the General Authority for Veterinary Services. The Ministry of Health has also enhanced medical preparedness, deploying specialized teams to hospitals and health units to manage any respiratory illness or fever cases with a history of contact with birds. The public is urged to report any unusual health cases immediately. Suspected samples are analyzed at the Central Public Health Laboratories and their regional branches. Health facilities have been equipped with necessary medications and vaccines to respond to emergencies. The Ministry of Health also continues to raise public awareness through official channels, promoting preventive practices such as thorough handwashing after handling birds, properly cooking meat and eggs, avoiding direct contact with visibly sick birds In parallel, the Ministry of Agriculture has undertaken a comprehensive inspection of poultry farms to ensure production safety. The Minister of Agriculture directed the General Authority for Veterinary Services to examine a representative sample of poultry production. To date, 3,492 farms across all governorates have been inspected, covering over 22.5 million birds, including chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, and quail. The reported infection rate remains below 3%, which is considered normal. Samples from suspected farms were sent to the reference laboratory for analysis, and results reaffirmed the stability of the epidemiological situation. Egypt's poultry sector is a key source of animal protein, with annual production of approximately 1.5 billion birds and 15 billion table eggs, reaching near self-sufficiency. Since January, over 4.5 million birds have been vaccinated in domestic and small-scale operations. Surveillance and field monitoring continue to detect any emerging diseases or variants. For inquiries or reports, the Ministry of Agriculture's hotline (19561) is available 24/7 to support breeders and coordinate rapid response efforts.

Famine Deepens in Gaza as Crossings Remain Closed, Aid Blocked

Ahmed Emam The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is escalating at an alarming rate amid the ongoing closure of border crossings and the continued blockade of humanitarian aid by Israeli forces. The situation has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and essential medicines, raising international concerns over an impending, unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. The crossings into Gaza have been closed since March 2, halting the flow of fuel necessary to operate hospitals and blocking the entry of vital medical supplies. This has resulted in the near-total collapse of the healthcare system, with many hospitals unable to provide basic services. Reports indicate that dozens of patients, particularly children and the elderly, have died due to the lack of medical care. Both local and international organizations have documented the deaths of children from acute malnutrition, as tens of thousands of families struggle to find enough food to survive each day. The Israeli blockade and use of starvation as a method of warfare have been condemned by rights groups, which argue that it compounds the devastation caused by ongoing military operations. More than two million Palestinians now face the threat of slow death under what observers describe as a policy of collective punishment, as the international community is accused of failing to act decisively in the face of growing human suffering in Gaza. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies

Ministry of Health Launches World Health Survey 2025

The nationwide data-gathering initiative will help to define the Kingdom's health priorities and services. The Ministry of Health has begun field visits as part of the World Health Survey 2025, a nationwide effort to collect data that will inform the development and improvement of health services across the country. Using the World Health Survey Plus (WHS+) methodology, the survey targets a nationally representative sample of both citizens and residents. Participants will complete detailed questionnaires covering personal and family demographics, health status, behaviors, risk factors, and experiences with the healthcare system. The survey will reach over 14,000 individuals and families across all 13 administrative regions in the Kingdom. Its findings will help strengthen Saudi Arabia's health information systems, define national health priorities, and provide a comprehensive overview of the population's well-being. Additionally, the data will support early detection of chronic diseases, help track progress toward Sustainable Development Goals, promote healthier lifestyles, and ensure that healthcare services are better aligned with the community's evolving needs.
