UAE-based Digital Ink partners with AI specialist Smart Elephant to drive innovation across GCC and North America

Ras Al Khaimah-based Digital Ink, a leader in next-gen marketing, and UK-based Smart Elephant, an AI and development solutions specialist, have announced a strategic commercial partnership focusing on the GCC region and North America.
The alliance will bring together creative strategic expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver more innovative, more impactful brand solutions. For the past two years, both companies have been active members of the Dscoop community, building relationships, sharing ideas, and discovering a mutual drive to improve things.
'We didn't stumble into this,' said Chris Minn, Founder and CEO of Digital Ink.
'Smart Elephant shares our hunger to challenge the status quo. I've always taken pride in being a positive disruptor, pushing boundaries, building value, and creating campaigns that move people. This partnership reflects that mindset only now; we're combining our energy with serious tech firepower.'
This has been in the works for some time. 'Harrison Bailey, the founder of Smart Elephant and his team visited me in Dubai some months ago,' Minn added. 'We spent days mapping out how we could align our companies, our values, and our goals. This partnership isn't just strategic, it's intentional.'
Smart Elephant brings more than technical power to the table; it brings vision. The company has made a name for itself by integrating rising student talent directly into real-world projects, offering a rare blend of cost-efficiency and future-ready thinking.
'It's a win-win,' said Harrison Bailey, Founder of Smart Elephant. Companies get access to the sharpest minds of tomorrow, and students get meaningful, career-shaping experience.'
Bailey's connection to the Dscoop community deepened during his time as a Business Analyst intern, where he worked at the 2024 Indianapolis event and with the academia program. That experience helped shape the Smart Elephant ethos: invest in people, build boldly, and keep pushing forward.
'We have the technical expertise, proven methods, and scalable solutions across marketing automation and app development,' Bailey added. 'But what's exciting about this partnership is the chance to fuse that with bold creative energy. Together with Digital Inc., we're not just building smarter tools, we're creating experiences that truly connect.'
The partnership will also focus on AI development and driving AI adoption across key industries. Initial efforts will center on innovation in the print sector, with a strategic expansion into education in the GCC a space both companies see as ripe for transformation.
And there may be a small visual cue of this new alliance. 'When you see us operating in partnership with Digital Inc., you might notice our elephant has a slight orange tinge,' Bailey said. 'It's a subtle nod to our alignment and shared mission in those regions.'
This collaboration marks more than growth; it signals a shared commitment to innovation, relevance, and results.

World Bank expects 4.9% growth for UAE economy in 2026, 2027

The World Bank has projected that the UAE's economic growth will continue on an upward trajectory, reaching 4.6 per cent in 2025 and stabilising at 4.9 percent during 2026 and 2027. The World Bank confirmed that the UAE's non-oil sectors continue to play a key role as a main driver of growth, with an expected growth rate of 4.9 percent in 2025. According to the latest edition of the Gulf Economic Update (GEU) issued by the World Bank, which is based on information available as of 1st June, economic growth in the GCC countries is expected to rise in the medium term, reaching 3.2 percent in 2025 and 4.5 percent in 2026. According to the World Bank, strong expansion in non-oil sectors is contributing to the growth achieved by Gulf economies. According to the latest edition of the GEU, the region witnessed notable economic growth of 1.7 percent in 2024, compared to 0.3 percent in 2023. The report noted that the non-oil sector continued to demonstrate its resilience, with a 3.7 percent increase. This growth was significantly driven by private consumption, investment, and structural reforms implemented in GCC countries. In Bahrain, growth is expected to stabilise at 3.5 percent in 2025, while economic growth in Kuwait is expected to recover significantly and reach 2.2 percent in 2025. Growth in the Sultanate of Oman is expected to gradually accelerate to 3 percent in 2025, compared to 1.7 percent in 2024, 3.7 percent in 2026, and 4 percent in 2027. The report expects economic growth in Qatar to remain stable at 2.4 per cent in 2025, compared to 2.6 percent in 2024, before accelerating to an average of 6.5 percent in 2026–2027. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the World Bank report expects economic growth to continue recovering to 2.8 percent in 2025 and reach an average of 4.6 percent in 2026–2027. The World Bank report also highlighted the challenges associated with uncertainty surrounding global trade, noting that the risk of a global economic slowdown continues to negatively impact the region. It recommended accelerating reforms aimed at diversifying economic activity and enhancing regional trade to mitigate these risks in GCC countries. Safaa El Tayeb El-Kogali, Division Director for the GCC countries at the World Bank, said 'The resilience of GCC countries in navigating global uncertainties while advancing economic diversification underscores their strong commitment to long-term prosperity.' She added, ""Strategic fiscal policies, targeted investments, and a strong focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation for youth are essential to sustaining growth and stability." The report titled "Smart Spending, Stronger Outcomes: Fiscal Policy for a Thriving GCC', discusses the effectiveness of fiscal policy in ensuring macroeconomic stabilization and encouraging growth. The topic is particularly relevant as oil price fluctuations strain budget balances in several countries across the region. The report finds that government spending in the GCC region has effectively stabilized economies, especially during recessionary episodes. The findings show that a 1-unit increase in fiscal spending can boost non-hydrocarbon output by 0.1-0.45 units in the region. WAM

UAE attracts $45.6 billion in FDI in 2024, ranks in world's top 10

The UAE ranked among the world's top 10 destinations for foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2024, as inflows surged by nearly 49 per cent to reach $45.6 billion (Dh167.6 billion), up from $30.68 billion the previous year, according to a United Nations report. The World Investment Report 2025, released on Thursday by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), revealed that the UAE climbed from 13th place in 2023 to 10th place in the latest global ranking. The UAE accounted for a dominant 55.6 per cent of total FDI inflows into the Middle East, which received $82.08 billion in 2024 – an increase from $78.39 billion the previous year. Other major recipients in the region included Saudi Arabia ($15.73 billion), Türkiye ($10.59 billion), and Oman ($8.68 billion). 'A strong rebound of flows in the UAE helped lift sub-regional figures, even as flows to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries declined,' the UN report stated. The UAE's outward FDI also saw moderate growth, rising by 4.8 per cent to reach $23.4 billion in 2024. Globally, FDI rose marginally by four per cent to $1.51 trillion, up from $1.45 trillion in the previous year. However, UNCTAD noted that this figure was inflated by volatile flows through conduit economies. When adjusted for these factors, global FDI declined by 11 per cent – marking the second consecutive year of decline. 'Productive FDI fell by 11 per cent in 2024, continuing a downward trend,' warned UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan. 'This is not just a downturn – it's a pattern.' Despite the overall decline, the United States remained the largest global recipient of FDI and led in both greenfield project announcements and international project finance (IPF) deals. Other top destinations included Brazil, Egypt, the UAE, Mexico, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Greenfield investment activity was especially strong in India and the UAE, while IPF deals were concentrated in a few mature markets and large emerging economies, the report added.
