Leaks from Indian lab drop bombshell on Olympic boxer Imane Khelif's biological sex

Newly leaked documents from a reputed Indian lab have claimed that Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif is biologically male. However, She was permitted to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where she won OFFICIALS DISMISS TEST RESULT At the Olympics, the officials dismissed the test, questioning its legitimacy. They stated that there is a possibility of Russian interference aimed at damaging Khelif's reputation and improving their own athletes' chances. The Olympic committee denied any biological concerns, saying there was no valid reason to prevent Khelif from competing in the women's boxer Angela Carini faced Khelif during the Paris Olympics in a match that ended in just 46 seconds. After the match, she said, "I feared for my life during that fight."Mexican boxer Brianda Tamara Cruz, who fought Khelif in 2022, echoed similar feelings. Adriyan, a new shooting star on the rise

Kolkata: Adriyan Karmakar was seven when his father Joydeep missed an Olympic medal narrowly by finishing fourth at the London Games in 2012. Having watched that event on television, the youngster grew up with a legacy to carry forward. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Last week, the 20-year-old made a statement by winning two medals — a silver in the 50m rifle prone event and a bronze in the 50m rifle 3 positions — at his maiden ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. Interestingly, Adriyan shot with the same weapon that his father had used at the Olympics. "I started shooting with a different weapon. But shifted to this gun since it is lighter," he stated. "It was a big stage. I am happy, but there's still room for improvement. It was challenging too as I had to adjust to the cold and windy conditions there," Adriyan told TOI on return to the country on Sunday. Wearing a new attire, Adriyan struggled as the leather and canvas of his jacket shrunk in the 2 degrees Centigrade on the match day. The India junior No. 1 shooter put up a good fight against French Olympian Romain Aufrere, who went on to win gold in the 3P event final. "I only came to know about him (Romain) being an Olympian when the competitors were introduced in the final round. But I shot with an open mind," he stated. Shooting came naturally to Adriyan, who picked up the game watching his father at different tournaments and national camps. According to Adriyan, being an Olympian shooter's son has both its pros and cons. "Yes, being my father's son, there's high expectations, but it was also because of him (Joydeep) that the game came naturally to me," he pointed out. Joydeep felt Adriyan's advantage is that he is technically very sound. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Adriyan used to listen to all that I used to discuss with my father when he was a kid. He is strong with that knowledge now," Joydeep said. Adriyan himself is also a keen learner. "I have interacted with (Abhinav) Bindra sir, (Jaspal) Rana sir who are all my father's friends. At the same time at Suhl, I went up to talk to coaches of other teams also to learn whatever I can," he stated. A Khelo India gold medal winner in 2022 and 2023, Adriyan aims to make the India side for the Olympics. "Definitely that's the dream, but I have to keep performing," Adriyan said looking ahead.

Olympic Gold medallist Gabby Thomas harassed at Grand Slam Track

Three-times Olympic gold medallist Gabby Thomas said she was verbally abused at the Grand Slam Track meet in Philadelphia last weekend, the latest incident of harassment the American has reported this year. Thomas, who won gold in the 200 metres, and 4x100m and 4x400m relays in Paris, said in a post on X that a man followed her around the track while she took pictures for fans and signed autographs, shouting personal insults at her. 'Anybody who enables him online is gross,' wrote Thomas. Thomas' post was in response to another on X which contained a video of a person heckling Thomas while she was on the starting line, shouting 'you're a choke artist - you're going down, Gabby'. 'I made Gabby lose by heckling her. And it made my parlay win,' the social media user wrote, with a screenshot of two multi-leg bets on the FanDuel sportsbook platform. Grand Slam Track did not immediately respond to a request for comment. One of American track's brightest stars, Thomas catapulted to mainstream fame after her breakout performance in Paris, gracing the cover of American 'Vogue' magazine and appearing on U.S. talk shows. The incident at Grand Slam Track also reflected a growing link between sports betting and harassment, with female tennis players including Caroline Garcia pointing to 'unhealthy betting' as a key culprit. Major tennis governing bodies moved to combat online abuse published last year a report that attributed nearly half of abusive social media posts to angry gamblers. 'Thank you for pointing out this disgusting behavior,' retired former world 10,000 metres silver medallist and NBC Sports commentator Kara Goucher wrote on X. 'You are exposing the crap that women go through and will eventually help other women as well.' Related Topics Gabby Thomas
