World's Largest Rubber Duck returning to Pittsburgh area as part of Idlewild and SoakZone's 2025 event lineup
The World's Largest Rubber Duck is making its grand return to the Pittsburgh region as part of Idlewild and SoakZone's 2025 event lineup.
The six-story-tall inflatable duck will return to western Pennsylvania for the first time since 2013. The duck will be on display for three days from June 27-29, 2025. Guests will be encouraged to take pictures and enjoy duck-themed activities and merchandise throughout the weekend.
Idlewild's 2025 season will also include Neighbor Days, Kids Fest, and the HALLOWBOO! Halloween-themed event.
Neighbor Days, running Fridays through Sundays from July 11 through Aug. 3, is a celebration of Pittsburgh's own Fred Rogers.
A Mister Rogers-themed weekend celebration will also run from July 11-13, paying tribute to Pittsburgh's favorite neighbor and offering parkgoers the chance to meet cast members, including David Newell (Mr. McFeely), Maggie Stewart (Mayor Maggie), and Chuck Aber (Neighbor Aber).
Kids Fest, running Saturdays and Sundays from Aug. 9-31, will feature differing themes from dance parties to magic shows and visits from costumed characters, including Idlewild's own Ricky Raccoon and Duke the Dragon.
HALLOWBOO! also runs on Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 13 to Oct. 26, transforming the park into a "festive, not-too-spooky Halloween haven," per a press release from park officials. Families can enjoy a Trick-or-Treat Trail through Story Book Forest, themed attractions, and Halloween displays among the fall foliage.
"Our team has crafted an exciting lineup of events that truly offers something for everyone," said Tim Heger, Idlewild & SoakZone General Manager. "From the return of an iconic floating friend to our treasured annual traditions, we're giving families a season packed with joyful moments and new reasons to visit us again and again. Whether it's to see a giant rubber duck make a splash, celebrate beloved PBS KIDS characters, enjoy some foam-filled fun, or experience Halloween adventures."
Idlewild opens for its 148th season on Saturday, May 17, with SoakZone attractions opening on May 24. More information about the park and event schedules can be found here.

Walt Disney World Teases Details About New 'Cars'-Themed Land amid 'Largest Expansion' in History of Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World has released details about the upcoming Cars-themed land, set to launch as part of the Piston Peak National Park transformation The Cars attraction was first announced at the Disney Experiences showcase at D23 on Aug. 10 "Cars from around the country are fueling up to be the wildest racer in the 'wheelderness,'" a Disney Parks Blog post read Walt Disney World is gearing up for the "largest expansion" in the history of Magic Kingdom! On Tuesday, June 3, the Orlando, Florida park released new details regarding the Piston Peak National Park transformation and the upcoming Pixar Cars-themed land, per a Disney Parks Blog post. "Cars from around the country are fueling up to be the wildest racer in the 'wheelderness,'" the post began. "Of course, we know that fans are curious to see how the exciting new backdrop for the big rally race will fit into the waters, landscapes, and storytelling at Magic Kingdom." It was announced that two new Cars-themed attractions would soon be built in Frontierland at the Disney Experiences showcase at D23 on Aug. 10. In the latest post, the park announced that Piston Peak National Park "will continue the sweeping storytelling tradition that has crossed Liberty Square and Frontierland" since it opened in the '70s. The post read, "Since the early days of Magic Kingdom, adventurous guests have traveled across space and time as they pass from Liberty Square to Frontierland." "At the heart of all these stories are heroic characters with a belief in themselves that helped forge a path to their dreams," the statement continued. "To continue this journey in great American storytelling, Piston Peak National Park will be part of the largest expansion in the history of Magic Kingdom," the park said. The post continued, "Imagine an awe-inspiring wilderness filled with towering trees, snowcapped mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, roaring rivers and impressive geysers. While fictional, Piston Peak is inspired by the Rocky Mountain area and the history and iconic sights of the American Frontier and its national parks." The park revealed that Piston Peak visitors would "be able to see and explore the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails and more all set within the Disney and Pixar Cars universe." "To make sure these buildings fit naturally within the surrounding majestic landscapes, Imagineers are using a style of architecture called 'Parkitecture,' which was developed by the National Park Service to create structures that harmonize with the natural environment," the post added. "From the outside, trees will provide a natural barrier between the off-road rally and other parts of Frontierland and Liberty Square. Rugged mountains with dramatic peaks will be nestled along a calming waterway across from Grizzly Hall, and soaring geysers from the famed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will stretch into the trails of our off-road rally," the description read. The post also confirmed that amid the ongoing work on the park this summer, the attractions Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat would be closing from July 7. "Imagineers are also hard at work beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, bringing to life the first-ever land inspired by the Disney Villains with two major attractions, dining, and shopping all on an incredibly twisted grand scale," the park added. Details of the off-road Cars vehicles heading to the park were first revealed at The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW in March, per a previous Disney Parks Blog post. Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter and Imagineer Michael Hundgen shared the news, with the latter saying, 'Our primary goal is creating an emotional experience for our guests." 'For this Cars attraction, we need to invent a new type of ride vehicle. No one builds these in a factory because it has to do so much more than just carrying you from one place to another. We have to create a car that conveys a feeling when you ride in it," he added, per the post. The Imagineers worked with a motocross company after taking a trip to Arizona to experience driving in a real off-road vehicle on rocky terrain, the park said. 'We're using a customized production vehicle,' Hundgen explained. 'It has sensors all over it, and we're taking it for test drives on our dirt track to gather data on how the vehicle responds to different terrain. This is where we turn that feeling we want into real-world engineering." A Disney spokesperson didn't immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information. What to Eat and Drink for Pride 2025 in Seattle
Pride this year is a celebration and an act of political resistance against a resurgent anti-LGBTQ brand of right-wing politics. In Seattle, as usual, the largest event will be the official Seattle Pride Parade, which will bring more than a quarter-million people downtown to march on June 29. But the whole month of June will be filled with Pride events, like neighborhood Pride festivals, meetups, and even a 'Pride Pet Vaccine Clinic' where LGBTQ pet owners pay only what they can. Pride in Seattle is not particularly focused on food and drink, but anytime anyone is celebrating, they're likely eating and drinking, too. What follows is a list of food- and drink-focused Pride events in Seattle — either Pride-themed menu items, or Pride events taking place at restaurants and bars. If you want to celebrate Pride by eating at a LBGTQ-owned establishment, the Seattle Times has a good list. We'll update this article as we hear about new events or specials, so if you are reading this and know of something that should be on the list, please email us at seattle@ Pride brunches On any given weekend there are drag brunches all over Seattle — here's our guide to the best ones — but during Pride, a lot more pop up. On June 8, the Fairmount Olympic Hotel is hosting the 'Big O-lympic Drag Brunch and Show,' which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes a 360-degree photo booth, a DJ, and performances from 'Seattle's top queens, hosted by a soon-to-be-announced icon.' A $90 ticket (plus tax) gets you food and a glass of sparkling wine; a portion of proceeds go to Seattle Pride. For more info and to book tickets go here. The day of the Pride Parade, June 29, there's an official drag brunch at the Hilton Motif, also downtown, which is fundraising for the Pride Impact Fund. The brunch starts at 10:30 a.m. and there's a host of events including a drag show, pop-up market, and a 'refreshment retreat' after the parade. Tickets are $87.21. Also on parade day, the gay-owned businesses El Suenito Brewing and Frelard Tamales — which share a space near the waterfront on the Ballard-Fremont border — are throwing their own drag brunch, featuring Drag Race star Geneva Karr. The event starts at noon and runs until 1:30 p.m.; tickets to this 18-plus event start at $30, with group and VIP packages also available. Other events On Friday, June 6, the Capitol Hill location of upscale ping-pong parlor chain SPIN is throwing a Pride event from 8 to 11 p.m. It'll feature 'Drag Pong Battles' pitting drag queens against 'SPIN pros' in 'high-energy paddle duels,' according to a press release. There will also be a photo booth, 'Sing-Along Pong,' complimentary rainbow Jell-O shots, and a special cocktail whose sales will benefit the Trevor Project. Tickets are $10. On June 14, the popular Ballard brewery Reuben's is hosting a no-cover 'Pridefest' that will feature rainbow flights of beer, a 'danceable DJ soundtrack,' and limited-edition merch. Sales of the Pride-themed Crikey IPA cans will benefit Seattle Pride. The Greater Seattle Business Association — a LGBTQ-allied chamber of commerce — is throwing a luncheon and pop-up market on Wednesday, June 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (the meal starts at noon). This is much less raucous than the Pride brunches above; the featured guests are Washington State Supreme Court Justice Mary Yu and Washington State Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pedersen. Tickets are $65. Finally, local charcuterie maker Boards by Erica is hosting a charcuterie-making workshop at Capitol Hill brewery Outer Planet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on June 27. Tickets are $60.54 and include the materials for your charcuterie boards, plus a flight of beers to accompany the cheese and meat. Sign up for our newsletter.
