Coal India, Hindustan Zinc and Oil India win auction of mineral blocks
As part of its fifth-tranche auction, India, for the first time, on Tuesday auctioned Potash and Halite mines, with Coal India Ltd (CIL), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), and Oil India Ltd (OIL) bagging critical and strategic mineral blocks, according to an official statement.
While Hindustan Zinc and Oil India won the Potash and Halite blocks, Coal India bagged the Graphite and Vanadium mineral block.
The fifth tranche was launched on January 28 and has concluded with an auction of 10 out of 15 blocks put up for bidding.
To date, a total of 34 blocks have been successfully auctioned in five tranches out of 55 critical mineral blocks which were put up for auction.
Regular auction of critical mineral blocks is an important element in the strategy adopted by the Ministry of Mines towards building self-sufficiency in critical minerals in the country.
The Ministry of Mines is also focusing on the exploration of critical minerals and has launched the National Critical Mineral Mission for the development of critical mineral ecosystems in the country.

CUDDALORE: Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL) has emerged as the preferred bidder for two strategic mineral blocks, Raipura and Semhardih, in the Tranche V auction conducted by the Ministry of Mines. Both blocks, located in Chhattisgarh, contain reserves of phosphorite and limestone, which are essential for India's fertiliser and industrial sectors. In a press statement on Wednesday, NLCIL said, 'With production of phosphorite from these mines, the huge dependence on imports can be reduced and can greatly contribute to the sustainability and growth of the agriculture sector in the country.' The company stated that the Raipura block was secured with a final price offer of 8.60%, while the Semhardih block was won with a final offer of 11.05%. 'These acquisitions are aligned with NLCIL's long-term strategy to expand its presence in the mining of critical minerals, which are increasingly vital for clean energy technologies, fertilisers, electronics, and industrial processes,' the statement added. CMD of NLCIL, S Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, said, 'The acquisition of these critical mineral blocks is a proud moment for NLCIL and a significant step in supporting the Government's vision of ensuring a resilient and sustainable mineral ecosystem. Phosphorite is crucial for food security and the fertiliser industry, and securing these resources strengthens our country's journey towards self-reliance.'

Cummins India reports 15% increase in revenue to ₹10,166 crore for 2025
Cummins India Limited (CIL) announced its financial results for the quarter and year ended March 31, 2025, showcasing a year of strong growth and a quarter with mixed performance amid global uncertainties. The Board of Directors reviewed and approved these results, highlighting a milestone year with over ₹10,000 crore in annual revenue. The company experienced significant growth in domestic sales and a partial recovery in export demand, while navigating geopolitical tensions and fluctuating economic indicators. CIL remains cautiously optimistic about future growth, leveraging its diversified product portfolio and strong financial position. For the year ended March 31, 2025, Cummins India Limited reported total sales of ₹10,166 crore, marking a 15per cent increase compared to the previous year. Domestic sales led the growth, reaching ₹8,395 crore, an 18per cent rise from the last year. Export sales also contributed positively, with ₹1,771 crore, a 6per cent increase. The company's profit before tax stood at ₹2,496 crore, 16per cent higher than the previous year, and profit after tax reached ₹1,906 crore, a 15per cent increase. Q4 FY25 results The quarter ended March 31, 2025, presented a mixed picture. Total sales for the quarter were ₹2,414 crore, 6per cent higher than the same quarter last year but 21per cent lower than the previous quarter. Domestic sales reached ₹1,935 crore, 1per cent higher than the same quarter last year but 25per cent lower than the previous quarter. Export sales showed a strong performance, with ₹479 crore, 39per cent higher than the same quarter last year and 3per cent higher than the previous quarter. Profit before tax for the quarter was ₹681 crore, 3per cent lower than the same quarter last year but 2per ecnt higher than the previous quarter. Profit after tax stood at ₹521 crore, 7per cent lower than the same quarter last year but 1per cent higher than the previous quarter. Shveta Arya, Managing Director of Cummins India, said "I am delighted to announce that Cummins India Limited crossed a milestone of ₹10,000 crore. annual revenue while maintaining its profit margins. PU receives CSR grant of Rs 1cr to implement AI in materials analysis
Chandigarh: The sophisticated analytical instrumentation facility (SAIF/CIL) at Panjab University has received Rs 1 crore for implementing artificial intelligence (AI). The grant was given by the Vardhman Industrial Group as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) and was presented to PU vice-chancellor Prof Renu Vig. The concept was presented to industries, with S P Oswal, chairman of the Vardhman Group, being the first to contribute CSR funds for enhancing these analytical capabilities for industrial applications. The transfer of funds to SAIF/CIL was facilitated by Amit Jain, head of CSR and AVP corporate projects at Vardhman, who expressed optimism about additional industrial establishments supporting this innovative initiative. SAIF/CIL at PU is dedicated to establishing an enabling environment for industrial product development, in accordance with the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. The centre features an established laboratory providing precise advanced analysis of materials and manufactured products. It is currently developing international-standard capabilities to examine technologies used in creating new manufacturing materials, including their metrology and quality control. The initiative aims to support manufacturing units, encourage startups, and promote entrepreneurship by utilising the substantial analytical and testing data generated through SAIF/CIL's various facilities. This data will be processed and enhanced using AI to expedite the development of new materials and products through advanced prototyping and design. SAIF/CIL will also concentrate on developing human resources by training scientists, technologists, and engineers through organised full-time and part-time internships and training programmes to maintain and expand these initiatives.
