Man gets life in prison for triple killings at Phoenix apartment that was set on fire
An Arizona man was sentenced Monday to life prison in the killings of three people at a Phoenix apartment that was set on fire.
Chase Scott Christman, 31, of Mesa had previously pleaded guilty to murder and robbery charges stemming from the July 2024 deaths of Merissa Honeycutt, 27; Anthony Frederickson Ceccarelli, 25; and Samuel Lott, 37.
Prosecutors say Christman had gone to the apartment in Phoenix's Ahwatukee area to get drugs and steal money.
R.J. Parker, an attorney representing Christman, didn't return a phone call from The Associated Press.
The bodies were found by firefighters who responded to a blaze at the apartment. Authorities said the bodies and the apartment weren't significantly damaged in the fire.
Neighbors told investigators they heard screaming coming from the apartment. Police say one victim was fatally stabbed, another was shot to death and another was both shot and stabbed.
Authorities say the victims likely fought back during the violent attacks and that Christman had cuts on his hands when he was arrested. Prosecutors say blood found in the apartment was matched with Christman's DNA.

The 78-year-old actor attended the Washington State Summer Con in Puyallup, Washington over the weekend, but the incident lead to the police getting involved and the actor being kicked out. The incident happened in the VIP section of the Washington State Fair and Events Center when Hannah-Kim, 37, and her husband, actor Sebastian Roche, walked past Kove and said hello. Kove then allegedly grabbed her arm and bit it so hard he nearly drew blood, and then even kissed her arm when she cried out in pain, according to TMZ. Both Hannah-Kim and Roche witnessed the incident and immediately told Kove - who recently lashed out at 'political Hollywood' - what he did was inappropriate. reached out to reps for both Kove and Hannah-Kim and they have not yet responded to requests to comment. Kove, according to the police report, was, 'furious and outraged and visibly angry when I told him calmly not to bite me,' and, 'he insisted he bit me for fun.' Kove also claimed he was trying to be 'funny' adding that they, 'play fight all the time on the set of Cobra Kai.' The police officer who was monitoring the VIP section told Kove that what he did was a crime, and told him to stay put while the situation was sorted out. While Hannah-Kim did not press assault charges against Kove, she did request that a report be taken with statements from her and her husband, to have on file in case a situation like this happened again. Photos were also taken of Hannah-Kim's arm, which showcased a, 'very noticeable bite mark on her arm that was already turning blue and bruising.' After the police were involved, Kove seemed to realize the gravity of the situation and apologized to Hannah-Kim and Roche in front of the officer. Kove was told to leave the convention, and the officer told him never to do something like that again. Kim played Kim Da-Eun, a powerful South Korean sensei who is also the granddaughter of Kim Sun-Yung, the master who taught initially taught Kove's character John Kreese in his youth. Kove played Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese in the 1984 classic The Karate Kid, and its 1986 and 1989 sequels, The Karate Kid Part II and The Karate Kid Part III. He reprised that role for Cobra Kai, set 34 years after the events of the original Karate Kid film, which originally aired on YouTube Red before moving to Netflix. The show enjoyed a strong run spanning six seasons, following Kreese's old student Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), which ended its run back in February. Kove will next be seen in Killing Mary Sue with Sean Patrick Flannery, Dermot Mulroney and Jason Mewes, while Hannah-Kim is filming the South Korean TV series The North Star.

Luigi Mangione's cellmate reveals 'CEO killer's' surprising life behind bars - and his 'obsession with fame'
A cellmate of Luigi Mangione has shared surprising details about the alleged CEO killer's life behind bars. Michael Daddea, 29, who was jailed briefly on federal ghost gun charges, said he spent two nights in the same unit as Mangione and described the accused killer as calm, friendly, and surprisingly well-adjusted to life behind bars. Daddea recounted how Mangione, 27, introduced himself right away, worked as a shower cleaner, and eagerly searched newspapers for coverage of his high-profile case. The video which was later deleted by Daddea has since resurfaced on TikTok attracting fresh attention not just for his jailhouse revelations, but for his looks, with commenters flocking to social media swooning over the Florida native and his brush with one of the country's most notorious murder suspects. Mangione is accused of assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson with a homemade 'ghost gun' last December. Daddea, who served just two nights in the MDC's 4G unit before bonding out on $250,000 bail, recounted his shock at being housed with Mangione, reports the New York Post. 'I thought the guard was being a wise ass,' Daddea explained. 'But then I see him - Luigi, standing there, smiling, saying, 'Hey, how's it going?' Like we were at a cookout. 'Super nice. Introduced himself right away. I'd been in the unit for 10 minutes. I guess he must've seen another white kid,' Daddea recalled. Daddea claims Mangione has by all accounts, become a model prisoner - and something of a celebrity in the federal lockup. His video racked up more than 80,000 views before being pulled and begins with Daddea recounting his shock at being told he'd be bunking with the Luigi Mangione. According to Daddea, the two hit it off instantly. 'I told him, 'Yo, it's an honor to meet you.' And he actually seemed touched. Said we were the first guys who even knew who he was or cared.' Mangione responded, 'You two are the first kids that came in here who knew who I was or even cared about it.' The third member of the unlikely trio was a fellow inmate known only as 'V.' From there, Daddea claims a brief but intense bond was forged with the pair sharing every meal and talking about religion. He claims how they even received Ash Wednesday ashes together when a visiting priest made the rounds in early March. 'We would just eat, bulls***,' Daddea said in the clip. 'He'd grab his tray and come sit with us like clockwork.' Mangione's days behind bars appear to be mundane. According to Daddea, the Ivy League-educated suspect has adapted with an eerie calm, serving as a 'collie' - in prison slang, that means an inmate with an assigned job. His task is to scrub the communal showers clean 'He's the guy who cleans the washrooms,' Daddea said. 'Not what you'd expect from someone who allegedly assassinated a CEO, right?' In addition to his janitorial duties, Daddea told how Mangione spends his free time jogging laps around the unit and scouring the local New York Daily News and New York Post for mentions of his case. 'He'd have me help look through some to see if there's articles about him,' Daddea wrote in a now-deleted comment. While Mangione is said to be scrubbing showers and reading headlines about himself, it's Daddea who's drawing comments from TikTok and Instagram. 'Came here after the viral comments, stayed because you're fine as f***,' one user swooned. ' MDC got a dating app we should be downloading or??' joked another. 'Okay, so you were def in the pretty boy unit, right?' added a third. Daddea is still facing serious charges for allegedly manufacturing more than two dozen untraceable firearms using 3D printers. He was released on $250,000 bail But internet fame is a double-edged sword. On X, Daddea revealed he's also received hate comments and threats since his video gained traction. Daddea is still facing serious charges for allegedly manufacturing more than two dozen untraceable firearms using 3D printers. He was released on $250,000 bail and awaits his own trial. Despite his serious charges, Mangione seems to be making the most of federal detention. In an electronic message dated June 3, the accused killer expressed gratitude for 'Chicken Thursdays,' 'Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce,' and 'thousands of books and letters' from supporters. Mangione who faces a charge of first-degree murder and the potential for a death sentence if convicted described his current cellmate as someone who 'tolerates the clutter of all my papers, shares his unique wisdom, and doesn't hesitate to humble me when I need it.' He even praised the correctional officers and staff, writing: 'They're nothing like what The Shawshank Redemption or The Stanford Prison Experiment had me believe. There's the occasional minor dissent, but nothing like that.' Surveillance footage from December 4 appears to show a man alleged to be Mangione raising a home made firearm, one eerily similar to the type Daddea himself was charged with producing, and firing multiple rounds into the back of CEO Brian Thompson near 56th Street in Midtown Manhattan. He spent five days on the run before he was ultimately arrested in Pennsylvania and hit with a suite of federal charges, including murder and terrorism. Mangione has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday, June 26. According to an alleged manifesto found on him at the time of his arrest, Mangione was inspired by the appalling state of healthcare in the US. In it, he allegedly blamed healthcare insurers for 'continuing to abuse our country for immense profit because the American public has allwed [sic] them to get away with it.' He has pleaded not guilty and awaits trial. Mangione celebrated his birthday behind bars on May 6, with a letter he sent to mark the occasion emerging on social media last week. He wrote that the number one thing he was grateful for is 'my friends, for being there when I needed it most.' '(Number two), my family, for [REDACTED - my personal life is none of your business!].' He paid tribute to the guards and mail staff at the federal correctional facility in the letter, thanking the mail room workers for having 'photocopied and processed thousands of letters sent to me from over 40 countries - your efforts are appreciated by so many.' The 27-year-old went on to thank an array of people in his letter, from those who donated over a million dollars to his legal defense, to his 'Latinas for Mangione' fan club. The alleged killer is not expected to stand trial for Thompson's murder until 2026. He described his life in jail as a 'predicament' that has pros and cons. While saying he lives a 'Groundhog Day' lifestyle of monotony in the MDC Brooklyn walls, Mangione said this has also brought him close to 'many talented and generous individuals.' Mangione faces the death penalty if convicted.
