Bridgerton star Simone Ashley's role in Brad Pitt's F1 cut from final film

Left in the dust. Simone Ashley's role in Brad Pitt's upcoming F1 racing movie has been cut from the final film – even though the Bridgerton star shot an entire storyline for the project. Director Joseph Kosinski explained the reason behind the surprising news in an interview published today. 'It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use,' Kosinski, 51, told People. 'There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn't make it into the final cut.' She does, however, briefly appear on screen but has no lines. Still, the director praised the Netflix star for her acting chops. 'But Simone, she's an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer, and I would love to work with her again,' he added. It was first announced that Ashley, 30, was cast in the Formula 1 racing drama in July 2024. Earlier this month, before it was revealed that her role had been almost completely cut, the Sex Education actress spoke highly of her 'crazy' time on the high-octane movie set. 'I have a very small part, but I'm grateful to be in that movie,' she told Elle on June 6. 'I got to experience many Grands Prix. I don't think I'll ever do anything like that again.' Ashley also said that production on F1 had been 'going for years' during an interview with Who What Wear in March. 'I met for this movie, I think, before Bridgerton even came out,' she told the outlet. 'It's been a long time, and you know, it's Damson and Brad's movie. I'm just so grateful that I can be part of it.' Even more surprising was the Picture This star's revelation that F1 filmed certain scenes both during and alongside actual Formula One races. 'You had to work as a team,' Ashley said. 'Sometimes we literally had one take for certain shots. Like, you'd see on the call sheet eight minutes to get this one thing because we were shooting alongside the races.' 'It was amazing, the adrenaline,' she added. 'It was kind of like theatre. It felt so live.' The Post has reached out to Ashley's reps for comment. F1 stars Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula 1 racer who comes out of retirement to mentor a young rookie prodigy named Joshua 'Noah' Pearce (Damson Idris) for the Apex Grand Prix team. The movie also stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia and Javier Bardem. 'There's a peacefulness in the car,' Pitt, 61, told Entertainment Tonight during the red carpet premiere of F1 in Mexico City on June 9. 'There are some days when you're off mentally, and you're just a fraction of a second behind on your turning point.' 'Or if you're having an uneasy day, and you're not committed to the car, trusting the car, you get it all wrong,' he added. 'And then there are these days where it is so sublime, you just cannot believe what these cars can do.'

Georgia Harrison awarded huge honour after campaign work

A former reality television star has said she is 'beyond honoured' to receive one of the UK's highest commendations after relentless campaigning against revenge porn. Georgia Harrison discovered her ex-boyfriend Stephen Bear had uploaded CCTV footage of the pair in an intimate act to OnlyFans without her consent. Bear was found guilty of voyeurism and two counts of disclosing a private sexual film. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison and was released early on January 17, 2024. Ms Harrison was also awarded £207,900 ($432,923.68) in damages, some of which she donated to charity. Since becoming the victim of the violating crime, The Only Way Is Essex star has tirelessly campaigned for stricter rules surrounding intimate image abuse and deep fakes — including working with the government on the Online Safety Act. This included increasing the amount of time people can take to report the crime, as currently they only have six months. For Ms Harrison, she said it took four months alone for her to realise a crime had been committed against her — and she may have not gotten justice if she'd found out later. Now, she has been awarded a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire — also known as an MBE — as part of the King's Birthday Honours, which is in a similar vein to an Order of Australia Medal. Ms Harrison said she had to read the letter three times to make sure she hadn't misunderstood what was happening. 'I am beyond honoured to be listed to receive an MBE,' she said on Instagram. 'I'm so grateful to anyone who has reach out to congratulate me and also to all of you who have shared and continue to share your stories with me along the way. 'I am continuously reading them all, taking on board your experiences and using them as both fuel and knowledge for my campaigning.' Ms Harrison told the BBC that being chosen for the honour was not something she expected but it felt nice to have her work recognised. Ms Harrison, who is expecting her first child, said she felt 'obligated to help' and was worried about the rise of sexism online. In Australia, image based abuse is when someone threatens to or shares an intimate image or video of someone without their consent. It's sometimes also called revenge porn or sextortion. One in five Australians between 16 and 49 have experienced image-based abuse in their lifetime, according to 1800 Respect People who are most likely to be victims of it are Indigenous people, people with disability and LGBTQIA+ people. People between 16 and 29 are also more likely to be victims.

Charli Grant engaged: Matildas defender to marry Lachlan Cameron

Planning a wedding is an arduous task for any couple. Throw in living 16,000km apart on opposite sides of the world and Matildas defender Charli Grant said the difficulty level increases substantially. Grant and fiance Lachlan Cameron had only ever known long distance relationships. When they went public with their romance Grant was playing in Sweden and Cameron living in Adelaide. Days after Cameron popped the question in the lead up to Christmas last year, Grant was back on a plane bound for London – to play for Tottenham. 'Long distance was really difficult,' Grant said. 'I think the longest time apart might have been four months. It was hard with the time difference. 'We would only be able to speak just before I went off to training and then he would be asleep by the time I finished training. 'So it was only small doses of the day. 'It would make the time when we got together really special.' But just two months after the pair were engaged, in December 2024, Cameron packed his bag and moved to London to live with Grant. 'It's been some difficult moments, some really exciting moments with my football and to have him there by my side to just give a cuddle when I need a shoulder to cry on or someone to celebrate with,' Grant said. 'It's really special to have him with me.' It isn't a luxury all of the Matildas have. Most have to move abroad in order to play football at a higher level and for better pay. Fowler ruptured her ACL in April and as it is mid-NRL season Cleary has had to offer his support from the other side of the world. 'It's a tough time for her but I'm also super proud of her, just the way she's attacked it so far,' Cleary said at the time. 'It's sometimes sad that I can't be there with her, just looking after her. But I'm very proud of her.' With the English WSL season over and Matildas set to play in Perth later this month Grant and Cameron have both made the trip back to Australia. In between catching up with family and friends and catching every seaside sunset she can, the couple are doing some serious wedding planning. Grant, fairly, didn't want to reveal too many details. 'We want the wedding to be back home in Australia so it's been hard to get to venues and things like that,' Grant said. Robert discusses Charli Grant's impressive versatility on the pitch in recent games ðŸ' — Tottenham Hotspur Women (@SpursWomen) May 8, 2025 'We are both probably not the best planners so we need some people to help us out with that. Now we are back home, we've had a look at a few venues, it's finally to finally get started.' Planning the wedding around her football schedule and commitments will likely be the tricky part. 'It's such a funny conversation to have with the venues because they ask what dates are you thinking and I'm like 'I don't know my schedule for my work yet. 'It can be hard to find the time but in the small breaks we get I'm sure we'll be able to organise a day.' ON THE PITCH Grant struggled to get on the pitch at Tottenham this season – playing just 396 minutes across 10 matches. It followed not being named in the final 18-women Matildas squad for the Paris Olympics. 'It's been my most difficult year, this past year,' Grant said. 'I think both the national team and club, it's been hard to cement a spot and get good game time. 'I've been working really hard to prove myself and make the most of any opportunity I'm given.' Tottenham finished 11th on the Women's Super League ladder with just five wins from 22 games. Coach Robert Vilahamn has been subsequently sacked – a new coach is yet to be named. Matildas have also finally appointed Joe Montemurro – giving Grant a clean slate at both club and national level. It was lack of game time at Tottenham that ultimately left Grant out of the Olympic squad – named in the extended team instead. She is desperate to avoid the same happening at next year's Asian Cup. 'It's exciting to have two new coaches, Tom (Sermanni) was great and I've learned a lot from Robert as well at Spurs but it's nice in the national team to have a new coach so we can really focus on the Asian Cup. 'It's a really good opportunity to show myself. 'I was really struggling to get game time at Spurs so hopefully with a new coach coming in I can show that I can play. I'll be working really hard this off-season to earn my spot.' Grant's first opportunity to impress Montemurro will be when the Matildas take on Slovenia and Panama across two two-game series in Perth starting on June 26.
