In this collection of pictures we shall know the star cricketer who is inspired by Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh and his father is a truck driver. Let's dive in.
Harvansh had the opportunity to shift to Canada and pursue cricket there, but chose to stay and chase his ambitions in India.
Canada does have cricket internationally and even participated in the 2024 T20 World Cup. But Harvansh turned down his father's suggestion to shift there and instead chose to remain in India to pursue his dream of playing for the national team. In a chat with TimesofIndia.com, Damandeep Singh, Harvansh's father, disclosed that his son turned down the opportunity to go abroad, determined to live his dream of playing for the country in the India jersey. Interestingly, Damandeep and Harvansh's uncle used to play cricket for pleasure in their early days in India.
"There are so many congratulatory messages. It feels good. It brings back so many memories of when Harvansh said 'no' to me about moving to Canada. He was rigid, and he's living his dream," Damandeep said.
"My elder brother and I were crazy about cricket. We used to play for the sake of a hobby. Even Rajkot is 200 km away from our city. It was only in 2012 when the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) opened an academy in our town. I enrolled Harvansh in it when he was six. He picked up 'keeping from me, as I used to don the gloves as well. But he turned southpaw because of Yuvraj Singh. He's a massive Yuvraj fan and hasn't seen peak Yuvraj, but he was obsessed with the video of him hitting six sixes off Stuart Broad," Damandeep revealed.
Harvansh currently lives in India with his mother, while the rest of his family resides in Canada. Having already represented the junior national side in both red and white-ball formats, his next goal is to secure a place in the squad for the 2026 ICC World Cup.

IPL 2025: List Of Major Trophies Won By Virat Kohli In His Illustrious Career

Last Updated: Virat Kohli, ace India and RCB batter, finally won the IPL title, completing his collection of major cricket trophies. Ace India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli won the coveted Indian Premier League title on Tuesday, to fill a cabinet that has the biggest titles in the world. Other than the World Test Championship final, Kohli has now won all the big titles and would definitely strive for a few more, as he goes through the fag end of his career. We take a look at the major trophies that Kohli has won in his illustrious career: ODI World Cup: A 22-year-old Kohli won the title back in 2011, when he was just three years into his international career. He scored 282 runs in nine matches in that tournament, at an average of 35.25 and with a hundred to his name, which came in India's opening game. He played three more ODI World Cups over the years and finished as semifinalists twice and runners-up once. T20 World Cup: This title took years to come for Kohli, and when it did, he hung up his boots from the format. The final of the 2024 edition of the tournament saw him play a match-winning knock against South Africa in Barbados as he took India to safety after an early collapse. India's first T20 World Cup title had come back in 2007, a year before Kohli's international debut, and after failing in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021 and 2022, he finally won it last year. Champions Trophy: This is the only ICC trophy that Kohli has won twice. He won it first back in 2013, as a 24-year-old, and this triumph remained India's biggest win till last year's T20 World Cup. In 2025, as the most experienced player of the batch, he won the title again, beating arch-rivals New Zealand in the final. IPL Trophy: While it probably wouldn't rank anywhere above the aforementioned, this eluded Kohli for the longest time. 'As far as the IPL trophy is concerned, you've made me wait 18 years to be able to lift it and celebrate my friend, but it's been worth the wait," Kohli wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. It took a mammoth effort from everyone in the RCB franchise to finally hand the star batter the coveted title. First Published: June 04, 2025, 12:45 IST

Exciting ninth edition of TNPL kicks off with defending champions Dindigul Dragons facing Lyca Kovai Kings.

The IPL might have just ended less than 48 hours ago, but T20 league action will continue in the country when the ninth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League kicks off at the Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science here on Thursday. In the opening fixture, defending champion Dindigul Dragons, led by former India off-spinner R. Ashwin, will take on the Lyca Kovai Kings in a rematch of last year's summit clash. The TNPL has been a nurturing ground for players from the state to take the next step. As many as 11 cricketers from Tamil Nadu featured in the recently concluded IPL, and most of them have benefited from the T20 league that started in 2016. B. Sai Sudharsan, who finished as the highest run-getter in the IPL, was one of the most recent finds of the TNPL when he burst onto the scene in a breakout season for Kovai Kings in 2021. The eight-team tournament will be played across four venues, starting in Coimbatore before moving to Salem and Tirunelveli. Dindigul will host the final leg of the tournament, including the Playoffs. There have been some significant changes in team composition post the mega auction earlier this year, with some big names, including Vijay Shankar and M. Mohammed, finding new homes. The Chennai-born former UAE leg-spinner Karthik Meiyappan, who scalped a hat-trick against Sri Lanka in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, has returned home and will make his TNPL debut. This year, the TNPL will have DRS calls for wides and no-balls. With the IPL scouts expected to be scouring across the venues, it will be a chance for TN's bright hopefuls to show their wares and follow in the footsteps of the likes of Sai Sudharsan, T. Natarajan, and Varun Chakarvarthy. TNPL schedule: League stages: At Coimbatore: June 5-11; At Salem: June 13-19; At Tirunelveli: June 21-26; At Dindigul: June 28-29; Playoffs (At Dindigul): Qualifier 1: July 1; Eliminator: July 2; Qualifier 2: July 4; Final: July 6.

Bengaluru stampede: CM Siddaramiah, PM Modi, RCB, BCCI express grief

Eleven individuals lost their lives and 33 were injured in a stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a large crowd had gathered to see the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team following its first Indian Premier League (IPL) title win. According to reports, thousands had assembled outside the stadium, and police attempted to manage the situation. Force was used as crowds surged against the entrance gates. Eyewitnesses stated that fans arrived in large numbers at the felicitation venue. Visuals showed police personnel moving the injured and unconscious to nearby hospitals using ambulances. An RCB fan outside the stadium said, "I don't know what we did had tickets." Another, Prashant Shetty, said, "We came to watch our stars. I bought tickets for the function but was not even able to enter the stadium. Police suddenly blocked all the roads and closed all the entrances to the venue, and suddenly they started lathi-charging near the main gate." RCB extends condolences to the affected families, ''We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team's arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe.'' IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said, "We spoke to the management when we got to know about the situation and they assured that they will finish the ceremony quickly. This is definitely sad and tragic. RCB officials assured me that they will wind up the celebrations now." He added, "... Officials inside weren't aware about what happened outside. They assured me they will wrap it up inside. It is very sad and tragic. Heartfelt condolences... We are not even aware whether someone has planned this event - how come such a huge crowd came to the stadium?" "I am not in a fault finding mission at this moment without knowing the complete fact. Whenever these kinds of events are being organised, if you take the example of how BCCI organised such victory celebration after India won the T20 World Cup in West Indies last year, there was a thorough planning with local cricket association. Not a single untoward incident occurred because all the protocols were duly followed.", BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told NDTV. Saikia added, "When one organises a victory celebration of this and security measures need to be taken." BCCI vice-president and Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said, "This can happen in any state, and the ruling party should not be blamed for it. It should not be politicised. If this happens in a BJP-ruled state, we should not blame them. The crowd was huge. I spoke to the franchise, and they also did not think that such a huge crowd would come, and this incident happened suddenly. Efforts are being made to provide maximum help to the families of the deceased." PM condones the incident Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences in a post shared by the Prime Minister's Office on X: "The mishap in Bengaluru is absolutely heartrending. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured have a speedy recovery." Karnataka CM expresses grief Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted, "Deeply shocked by the tragic loss of lives in the stampede during the RCB victory celebrations near Chinnaswamy Stadium. A moment of joy has been eclipsed by sorrow. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Precautionary measures were taken by not allowing a victory parade, but the crowd surge near the stadium led to this tragedy. I urge everyone to always prioritise safety — above excitement, celebration, or crowd fervour." Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge posted, "I am deeply saddened by the tragic stampede in Bengaluru during the celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2025 victory. The loss of precious lives and the injuries sustained by many in this unfortunate incident are profoundly distressing. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured." Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on X: "My condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Wishing a swift and full recovery to all those injured. In this hour of grief, I stand with the people of Bengaluru. The Karnataka government must provide all possible support and relief to the affected families. This tragedy is a painful reminder: no celebration is worth a human life. Every safety protocol for public events must be reviewed and strictly enforced -- lives must always come first." Senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad said, "The incident in which more than 11 people, including women, died in a stampede during the RCB cricket team's victory parade in Bengaluru is extremely shocking and regrettable. The condition of some of the injured in the stampede is serious, and the government should take immediate action to provide them with appropriate treatment." Opposition slams state govt The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised the Congress-led government in Karnataka, demanding that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara accept responsibility for the incident. Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said on X: "It is extremely painful to see innocent lives lost even before the celebrations could begin. The primary reason for this massive tragedy is the lack of proper planning and complete failure to take precautionary measures. The state government, led by @INCKarnataka, must take full responsibility for this disaster."
