PGA Tour Reveals Priceless Robert MacIntyre Reaction on J.J. Spaun's US Open Victory
PGA Tour Reveals Priceless Robert MacIntyre Reaction on J.J. Spaun's US Open Victory originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
J.J. Spaun's dream run ended with a championship at Oakmont Country Club as he captured the 2025 U.S. Open in the most challenging circumstances. Despite a nightmare start — five bogeys in his first six holes — Spaun dug deep after a rain delay and delivered an epic comeback. He drained birdie putts from 40, 22 and an outrageous 64 feet, sealing the win with a clutch putt on 18. Spaun closed the day at one-under par, the only player to finish under par.

'It's a dream weekend scenario ... to have my two kids here is just awesome – the cherry on top!' he said, celebrating Father's Day with his wife, Melody, and daughters, Emerson and Violet.

While Spaun celebrated, the man he edged out, Scotland's Robert MacIntyre was left stunned. MacIntyre had played brilliantly with a two-under 68, setting the clubhouse lead at one-over par and watching from the scorer's room, hopeful. But when Spaun's monster putt dropped on the 18th, cameras caught MacIntyre's reaction, mouth wide open in disbelief, followed by a classy round of applause. The PGA Tour shared the moment on social media, and fans couldn't get enough of the sportsmanship.
Upon this reaction PGA Tour wrote, "Class act" on X. MacIntyre might have said "Wow," on seeing Spaun's performance.
Though denied the win, the Scotsman proved his mettle on one of golf's toughest stages.

It was a fitting end to a dramatic major weekend: wild weather, pressure-packed moments and genuine emotions both on and off the course. And in the middle of it all? Two pros who showed the world what class looks like.

"It's super sparkly in person and of course it's a bonus that it's a nightlight." While it's not a formal collaboration with the legendary singer-songwriter, it certainly looks as though it could have taken inspiration directly from her famous Fearless guitar—the original of which was encrusted with Swarovski crystals, while the Eras Tour version was hand-bedazzled by her parents and her brother. Williams drives Oklahoma closer to NBA championship
Oklahoma City are just one win away from lifting the NBA championship. Jalen Williams had a career playoff-high 40 points and MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 31 as the Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers 120-109 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night. JDUB SPEAKS AFTER DROPPING 40 🔊Leads OKC to a 3-2 series lead in an iconic performance! — NBA (@NBA) June 17, 2025 It was the 10th - and by far the biggest - time the Thunder stars combined for more than 70 points in a game. Williams was 14 of 24 from the field and Gilgeous-Alexander added 10 assists. Pascal Siakam had 28 points for Indiana, who now trail the series 3-2 and will host Game 6 on Thursday night. TJ McConnell added 18 for the Pacers, who whittled an 18-point deficit down to four in the fourth before watching the Thunder pull away again, and for good. And now, everything favours the Thunder. Teams who have won Game 5 of an NBA Finals that was tied at 2-2 have gone on to win the series 23 times in 31 previous opportunities, or 74 per cent. And teams with a 3-2 lead in the finals have won 40 times in 49 previous opportunities, or 82 per cent. But Game 5 was not easy. Far from it. Down by as many as 18 late in the second quarter, the Pacers - the comeback kings of these playoffs, with as many wins in this postseason from 15 points down or more (five) than the rest of the league has combined, including in Game 1 of this series - did what they do, chipping away. And they did it with Tyrese Haliburton reduced to basically playing decoy on offense because of a leg issue that he aggravated in the first quarter. Led by McConnell, who scored 13 points in just under seven minutes of the third, the Pacers got within five late in that quarter. Then, Siakam went to work - a pair of free throws with 9:19 left got Indiana within four, then a 3-pointer about a minute later made it 95-93. In the play-by-play era of the NBA, starting with the 1997 playoffs, teams with leads of 15 points or more in the finals were 80-9. Make that 81-9 now, and the Thunder are one win away.
