Tourism minister discusses reopening of Mövenpick hotel in Sana'a

Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Ali al-Yafei has discussed with agent of the company operating Mövenpick Hotel in Sana'a Ahmed al-Awlaqi issues related to the hotel's reopening.
The meeting addressed the extent of the damage to the hotel, its facilities, and annexes, as well as the costs of reconstruction and operation.
During a speech attended by First Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Essam al-Senini, the Minister of Culture and Tourism condemned the aggression for its deliberate targeting of tourist, cultural, historical, and archaeological facilities, which reveals its hatred and its persistence in destroying the resources of the Yemeni people.
He affirmed that government agencies will provide all forms of support and assistance to the hotel's management, and will provide the necessary facilities and exemptions to enable it to restore and maintain the hotel and restore its activity and operation.
Minister al-Yafei affirmed the government's commitment to supporting and nurturing investments and investors, noting that Yemen currently has numerous investment opportunities, totaling 150, available for application.
Al-Awlaqi expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism leadership with the hotel management in overcoming the difficulties facing it and bringing it to life.

Yemen's Houthis "warn" companies to leave Israel
The Houthis yesterday renewed their warning to all firms investing in Israel, urging them to leave immediately or risk bearing full responsibility for any potential losses. Mahdi Al-Mashat, president of the Supreme Political Council — the highest governing authority in the Houthi-led administration in Sanaa — called on all companies investing in Israel to take the Yemeni warning seriously and to withdraw quickly, stressing that the environment is no longer safe. His remarks were reported by Houthi-run media. 'Companies that remain in the Zionist entity after our warning will have to bear the consequences of their insistence and be held accountable for any losses they may incur,' he added. Occupied al-Quds- Saba: The Israeli newspaper "The Marker" revealed that revenues from the port of Eilat collapsed by 80% in 2024, after ships stopped docking there following the blockade imposed by Yemeni forces on maritime navigation in the Red Sea in support of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli government will vote next Sunday on a draft resolution for compensation conditional on the payment of a debt of 3.2 million shekels accumulated by the port owners. The draft resolution reveals the extent of the damage to the port due to the blockade imposed by the Yemeni armed forces, which has prevented ships from sailing through the Red Sea, forcing them instead to circumnavigate Africa to reach Israel's Mediterranean ports, Ashdod and Haifa. From the beginning of 2025 to mid-May, only six ships docked at the port. The suspension of operations placed 21 employees on unpaid leave, compared to only 16 ships docked last year. In 2023, port revenues reached NIS 212 million. In 2024, they decreased by approximately 80%, reaching NIS 42 million, compared to 134 ships docking at the port in 2023.
