Maple Leafs Reveal Major Injury Update on Anthony Stolarz Entering Game 6
The Toronto Maple Leafs are just one game from being sent home for the season. Toronto will be looking to extend its second-round playoff series with the Florida Panthers in Game 6, but it'll have to win on the road to do so.
The Maple Leafs held a 2-0 series lead but have dropped three straight games to the defending Stanley Cup champions. One reason for this is that Toronto has been without starting goalie Anthony Stolarz since Game 1.

Stolarz suffered a scary injury on a collision with Panthers center Sam Bennett. Backup Joseph Woll has taken over in the net for the Maple Leafs, and Toronto is likely to rely on him for the remainder of the series.
Kristen Shilton of ESPN provided the latest update on Stolarz.
"To get back to Toronto for a Game 7, the Leafs will have to win in Florida, but they likely won't have starting goaltender Anthony Stolarz," Shilton said. "He has been sidelined since Game 1 of the series with an undisclosed injury. He resumed skating over the weekend and was on the ice for a 30-minute workout on Thursday, but Berube doubted Stolarz would join the Leafs in Florida for Game 6."

Without Stolarz, Woll is going to have to step up for the Maple Leafs. Woll gave up five goals on 25 shots before he was benched in Game 5, putting some doubt in his abilities entering the crucial Game 6 contest.

If Woll can step up again for this team, the Maple Leafs may have enough juice left to send things back to Toronto for Game 7.

The latest on Aaron Ekblad after taking puck to hand in Panthers' Game 2 Cup Final win
Take a sigh of relief, Florida Panthers fans. Aaron Ekblad appears to be OK. Panthers coach Paul Maurice on Saturday said the defenseman was fine after blocking a Darnell Nurse shot with his hand in the second overtime of Florida's eventual 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Friday. The blocked shot occurred 4:02 into the second period, with Ekblad's left hand taking the brunt of Nurse's wrist shot from the point. Ekblad skated to the bench in pain and was checked on by a trainer. He managed to play two more shifts in the game before Brad Marchand eventually ended it with his goal 8:05 into the second overtime to tie the best-of-7 series at 1-1. Ekblad has been one of the top point-producing defensemen this Stanley Cup playoffs. He's tied for third in the league among blueliners in points (11) and assists (eight) while being tied for fourth in goals (three) while averaging just shy of 24 minutes of ice time per game. When Ekblad is on the ice at five-on-five this postseason, the Panthers are controlling 56.98 percent of shot attempts — the highest rate among Florida defensemen — while outshooting opponents 145-125 and outscoring them 14-12. Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final is at 8 p.m. Monday from Sunrise's Amerant Bank Arena.

Wayne Gretzky Reveals Secret to NHL Team Success Amid Stanley Cup Final
Wayne Gretzky Reveals Secret to NHL Team Success Amid Stanley Cup Final originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are battling again in the Stanley Cup Final, meeting in the finals for the second year in a row. Edmonton took Game 1 in overtime, winning 4–3 at Rogers Place on Wednesday night. Advertisement Although both teams have lost and added players from last year to this season, NHL legend Wayne Gretzky believes there's a clear reason why they've returned to the Final. Appearing on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday, after attending Game 1, Gretzky said team chemistry is the one thing that all real contenders share. 'We're always together, I mean, especially when you're playing, it's 20 guys and you go to dinner together,' Gretzky said. 'The teams who do that are more successful. "The teams where four guys go one place and three guys go to another place... they're not a team.' Gretzky pointed directly to the Oilers and Panthers as examples of that winning formula. Advertisement 'You look at the Edmonton guys, they're always together. You look at the Florida group, they're always together, Tampa Bay...,' Gretzky said. 'Those teams, year after year, are successful; there's no secret to why it is. 'They'll go through a wall for each other, and you gotta have that in our sport.' Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid plays in the Stanley Cup Nelson-Imagn Images Gretzky also believes Edmonton has what it takes to bring the Stanley Cup back to Canada, finally. 'This is the team to do it,' Gretzky said. 'I don't think Florida has played a team that is as physical as Edmonton. The speed of Edmonton matches Carolina, but Edmonton's a little more physical. 'And when you get to three championship series in a row, you're physically beat up.' Advertisement Game 2 of the series takes place Friday night in Edmonton, with the Oilers holding a 1–0 lead. Wayne Gretzky Predicts Winner of Stanley Cup Final Without Hesitation
Wayne Gretzky Predicts Winner of Stanley Cup Final Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It has been over three decades since a Canadian team lifted the Stanley Cup, but the Edmonton Oilers have the chance of breaking the curse in the next few days. Advertisement The last time a team north of the American border hoisted the Cup was June 1993, when the Montreal Canadiens capped off a five-game series win over the Los Angeles Kings. Since then, every champion has come from the United States. The Oilers are back in the Stanley Cup Final for a second straight year and currently lead the Florida Panthers 1-0 in the finals rematch from last season. Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky was in attendance for the opener and later appeared on Thursday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show" to discuss the matchup and the potential for history to be made. When asked if this is the team that will once and for all return the Cup to Canada, Gretzky made his stance clear, picking the Oilers to go all the way and win the championship. Advertisement "This is the team to do it," Gretzky said. "One, I don't think Florida has played a team that is as physical as Edmonton. The speed of Edmonton matches Carolina, but Edmonton's more physical." Gretzky acknowledged the toll Florida's deep playoff runs have taken over the past three years, highlighting that as a possible advantage on Edmonton's side. Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett (9) and Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid (97) get into a scrum in the 2024 Stanley Cup Belski-Imagn Images "When you get to three championship series in a row, you're physically beat up," Gretzky said. "Right now, I hope Florida can rebound, but they've put their guts on the line the last three years, and it's hard to get to the Stanley Cup Finals, and they play hard." Advertisement That said, Gretzky still attributed the chances of winning the Cup to Edmonton's mindset, not just how tired the Panthers might be at this point in the playoffs. "I expect (the Panthers) to bounce back. But listen, Edmonton feels it. That's all anyone talks about," Gretzky said. Game 2 of the Final is scheduled for Friday night at Rogers Place, with the Oilers holding a 1-0 series lead.
