This Vintage Clip of Kate Middleton Apologizing to Prince William After Beating Him in a Boat Race Is Going Viral on TikTok

Getting ready for a royal family flashback courtesy of a vintage clip of Kate Middleton and Prince William from the couple's 2014 trip to Aukland, New Zealand that's currently going viral on TikTok. In the clip, Kate can be seen playfully (and adorably) apologizing to her husband after beating him not just once, but twice when the two faced off in a yacht race on the trip. The clip, which has more than 21K likes and close to 515K views as of this writing, features Kate (looking nautical AF in a blue and white striped top) saying, "I am sorry," while holding Will's hands after her back-to-back victories. Will and Kate both stepped up during the April 2014 trip and took the helm of an Emirates Team New Zealand Americas Cup yacht for the race, which was held at the Viaduct Basin, in Auckland. According to a report from Sky News at the time, "Kate left William in her wake as she took the helm of one of the Team New Zealand America's Cup yachts for almost the whole 90 minutes spent on the water." Kate's victory was made even sweeter by the fact that, according to Sky News, Will had previously told New Zealand Prime Minister John Key that he would be the one to win the race (which was apparently seen by some as a kind of "revenge match" for a dragon boat competition that Will actually won during the royal couple's 2011 tour of Canada). "We were sabotaged," Will joked after losing the Aukland race, and, when someone told him that Kate looked pleased to have won, he added, "I bet she is. Selfless husband. I wanted a quiet night." Eric Haagh, who was the skipper of William's boat, recapped the race and explained that, even though "William was a good sailor," Kate ultimately won because she "pushed us around into a bad position" and "did very well." Haagh also confirmed that the couple's reputation for being competitive is well-earned, revealing William had a slightly salty reaction when his wife won both races. "William was very competitive right from the start—he didn't want to lose," Haagh added. "When Kate won both the races he just said: 'At least she'll be happy.'"

5 sci-fi movies on Netflix you need to watch in June 2025

Netflix's sci-fi page is light on new movies in June. Due to the lack of new entries, our recommendations are movies that have been on the streamer for months. One of our picks is Dune, the original movie adaptation from the '80s, not the 2020s. If Dune isn't your speed, try Godzilla Minus One, a masterful monster movie. The Oscar-winning film might even move you to tears. If you don't believe me, then try it yourself along with these other films. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+. Godzilla Minus One (2023) The recent Godzilla movies are mindless entertainment. That's a compliment, by the way. Watching Godzilla form a tag team with Kong to take on otherworldly creatures is a satisfying time at the movies. However, Godzilla Minus One is in a league of its own. The Oscar-winning epic follows Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki), a Japanese WWII pilot who defects from his post, only to watch his comrades get wiped out by Godzilla. Plagued by survivor's guilt, Shikishima gets a shot at redemption when he joins a small group of soldiers chosen to defend Japan from Godzilla. Who knew a movie with a giant lizard could include one of the most moving depictions of grief and trauma? Stream Godzilla Minus One on Netflix. The Adam Project (2022) Shawn Levy's last three movies have all been headlined by Ryan Reynolds. The first movie, Free Guy, became a sleeper hit, and the most recent, Deadpool & Wolverine, broke box office records. The movie sandwiched between the two was The Adam Project, a sci-fi adventure and one of the five most popular English-language movies on Netflix. Pilot Adam Reed (Reynolds) travels back in time from 2050 to 2022 when he encounters his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell) one year after the death of his father. Adult Adam must work with his younger self to prevent the assassination of his wife (Zoe Saldaña). Like most of Levy's movies, there's a surprising amount of heart in this middle-of-the-road sci-fi adventure. Stream The Adam Project on Netflix. Dune (1984) Is Dune bad? The film's director, the late David Lynch, disowned the movie. Two things can be true: Dune is mediocre, and it was ahead of its time. Before Timothée Chalamet became Lisan al Gaib, Kyle MacLachlan starred as Paul Atreides, the heir to House Atreides who must unite the Fremen on Arrakis in their fight against the Harkonnens. Lynch's movie is a fascinating attempt to bring an unadaptable book to the screen. The large amount of exposition forced Denis Villeneuve to split up the source material into two movies. Still, Lynch laid the blueprint for Villeneuve's spectacular adaptations. Stream Dune on Netflix. Time Cut (2024) Time Cut is Scream with a time travel storyline. In the present, Lucy Field (Madison Bailey) still mourns the death of her older sister, Summer Field (Antonia Gentry). The Fields' parents also struggle to cope and neglect Lucy in the process. While exploring a strange light in a barn, Lucy discovers a time machine and travels back to 2003, days before Summer's death. Gifted with this newfound opportunity, Lucy plans to save her sister. Be prepared for some physics because time travel movies have specific rules that must be obeyed. Stream Time Cut on Netflix. Outside the Wire (2021) Anthony Mackie playing a soldier is not exclusive to the Captain America movies. Mackie played an android super-soldier in Outside the Wire. Drone pilot Thomas Harp (Damson Idris) disobeys an order to save nearly 40 soldiers. However, two Marines die from Harp's mistake, so he's sent to combat duty at a base in the Ukraine as punishment. Harp now serves under the command of Harp (Mackie), who is secretly an android disguised as a human. The two reluctantly team up to find a doomsday device before nuclear war breaks out. Outside the Wire is a serviceable sci-fi action movie with two charismatic leads. Stream Outside the Wire on Netflix.

Police issue mosh pit warning ahead of Download festival in Leicestershire this weekend

Police are warning rock fans at this weekend's Download festival about the potential for accidental calls while in the mosh pit. Leicestershire Police issued an alert ahead of the event at Donington Park, which begins on Friday. Posting on Facebook, the force said, in previous years, they received "a rise of nearly 700 extra 999 calls" caused by energetic dancing at Download. "The tech assumed that people in mosh pits had been in a collision, causing 999 contacts and abandoned 999 calls," said the post. Police have blamed mobiles and wearable gadgets featuring technology which alerts emergency services when it suspects there has been an accident. The technology can inadvertently activate when hardcore rock, heavy metal, or punk fans are involved in aggressive styles of dancing - sometimes called "thrashing", "slam dancing" or "pogoing". Certain iPhone and Apple Watch models operate a "crash detection" feature - turned on by default - which is designed to identify a severe car crash and connect people to emergency services. Even if people are unaware that the feature has been activated, the device will call the emergency services automatically after a 30-second countdown. Some Android mobiles operate a similar service called "car crash detection". "All those calls had to be assessed, with three outbound call attempts completed to ensure there is no threat, risk or harm, taking our contact handlers away from answering true emergency calls," police added. They recommended switching on airplane mode or disabling emergency alerts on wearable tech, as well as answering any callbacks so officers know fans are safe. Read more from Sky News: Some of the reactions to the post included "don't mosh too hard" and "be wary of the mosh pit". But another user commented: "Avoid false alarms and allow police to focus on crime." Headline acts at Download are Green Day on Friday, Sleep Tolken on Saturday and Korn on Sunday.
